The hotel

It’s said that life in San Francisco is best lived on the waterfront. Where better to sample it than at Hotel Zoe, a stroll from Pier 39 and the bay. Wander out and you’ll stumble upon many fabulous shops and eateries, or pop into the hotel’s Italian trattoria for homemade crab ravioli or roasted sea bass. They serve a delicious breakfast too - why not grab a table on the sidewalk and watch as Mason Street comes to life?

Hotel Zoe offered a stylish and comfortable base for our San Francisco adventure. The room decor had a luxury feel, with mirrors on each wall that gave it a much larger, more open vibe. The bathroom in the room did feel quite dated, with a definite 90s feel to it and could use a refresh. The reception area was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. As we were only staying for a short period, we chose not to use the housekeeping service, but it was available if needed. The parking charges were extortionate, and the in-room incidental items were seriously overpriced—we didn’t dare touch them in case we were left with a huge bill. As a guest for the hotel it should be included in your room price-not an additional charge! Additionally, the hotel’s location is fantastic—just a 5-minute walk to Pier 39, a scenic 20-minute cycle along the waterfront to Oracle Park, and about 45 minutes bike to the breathtaking Battery Spencer viewpoint. We’d definitely recommend continuing the ride down into the charming village of Sausalito—just be aware that there are some steep sections, so an e-bike is a great idea! Overall, a very enjoyable stay in an unbeatable location, but a few things kept it from being a full 5-star experience. Read less

No less than 3 times I emailed the hotel to confirm our booking, and not one reply. On arriving at the hotel, even though the room was ready, we were asked for an early checknin fee of 50 dollars, despite having already paid over £2000 for 4 days. Most of the staff were not very engaging, and it felt as if you were not a guest, but an inconvenience. No coffee making facilities in the room. No iron, the bathroom was very basic, and looked grubby. I completely avoided spending any money in the hotel restaurant, as I felt that my whole stay was hugely over priced, and not worth a dollar more. Please be aware if you book this hotel, you will receive the bare minimum, but I guess it is San Francisco! Read less

Everyone was extremely helpful and kind, especially Azriel . They accommodated us with us walking in off the street for a room. We thought we had a reservation at a different hotel but it was inadvertently canceled. I saw Hotel Zoe by chance, connected to a bar & grill, decided to check it out… it did not disappoint!
