“Outstanding Stay — Exceptional Service and Perfect Location”
Feb 22, 2026IamTraveler999
We had a fantastic stay at Kimpton Alton Fisherman’s Wharf and would return without hesitation.
From the moment we arrived, the staff delivered truly exceptional service — warm, attentive, and consistently helpful at every interaction. It’s rare to experience such genuine hospitality throughout an entire stay, but the team here made us feel welcome at all times.
Our platinum loyalty status was well recognized and appreciated. We were graciously upgraded to a beautiful room, which set the tone for a wonderful visit. Recognition like this goes a long way, and it was clear the staff takes pride in valuing returning guests.
The hotel itself has a modern, fresh feel and is very well maintained. Everything was spotless, stylish, and thoughtfully designed, creating a vibrant and positive energy throughout the property. It feels contemporary without being sterile — a great balance that makes it both comfortable and uplifting.
Breakfast at the hotel was another highlight, with excellent options that made starting the day easy and enjoyable before heading out to explore the city.
The location is ideal — close to the waterfront, Fisherman’s Wharf attractions, and convenient transportation options, making it easy to get anywhere in San Francisco while still feeling relaxed and safe.
Overall, this property delivers exactly what travelers hope for: outstanding service, great amenities, thoughtful recognition of loyalty, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone visiting San Francisco.
“Great room at a great value”

We had a great time visiting this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was large and much quieter than I expected. The rooms were also very clean. We appreciated the addition of the Nespresso machine. I would have liked some albums available from people that I had actually heard of.
“Destination Fees: But We Don't Care”
Feb 01, 2026a m
I had a very nice stay at this hotel. My room was fairly large (by SF standards), well maintained, and the staff I dealt with was courteous and professional. The turntable in the room is kind of a gimmick, but one that I enjoyed. I like touches like these. I borrowed a few albums from the front desk. I had an incredible meal at Abaca, highly recommend. So why the one star review and why am I recommending that you avoid this hotel at all costs?
Upper management has decided to swindle customers by charging 'destination fees'. I was charged $42 (w/ tax) per night, separate and aside from the rate I paid for the room. In you are not aware, California law (SB 478 and AB 537, effective 7/1/2024) bans resort fees by requiring all mandatory charges to be included in advertised room prices. Hotels cannot circumvent this ban by relabeling resort fees as 'destination fees' or 'amenity fees'. The destination fee I was charged functions identically to the banned resort fees: they are applied per night, charged to all guests, and are non-negotiable.
If you, like me, have stayed at this hotel and were similarly robbed:
* You have legal recourse. California law permits private citizens to sue hotels for violations, with statutory damages of at least $1,000 per violation under the Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA).
* Request removal of the destination fee charge at checkout or before booking. If denied, document the interaction and consider filing a complaint with the California Attorney General's office or pursuing a claim in small claims court.
This hotel's choice to charge destination fees demonstrates a willingness to exploit guests. Why would I ever give my money to a business that treats their customers like rubes? Find another place to stay, you have more dignity than this place thinks you have. I've already filed a complaint and asked for a refund.
