When you're looking to wander around Fisherman's Wharf trying out the various dining options, enjoy the entertainment on Pier 39, and wander through the shops on Ghirardelli Square - well you couldn't pick a better location for your hotel than the Kimpton Alton. Just a stones thorugh from all of the above, you're also only about 15 minutes walk from San Francisco Bay where you can take the ferry to Alcatraz. Back at the hotel the rooms offer very comfy beds, and cosy vibes that will allow you to relax after a day exploring Golden Gate City. Even better, they offer complimentary tea and coffee to kick start your day, and a complimentary wine and beer hour to wind down at the end of it! Couple that with the option of in-room spa treatments and you really will feel relaxed on this city break. The service on hand at this hotel is indeed top notch - there's even complimentary scooters on hand to use for the little ones to roam the city!

“Great place to stay in San Francisco”

Very nice clean hotel. Walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf and plenty of good restaurants around. Their restaurant had a very good breakfast and free coffee was available in the lobby. They also stored our luggage for us since our train didn’t leave until late.

Very relaxed, easy place to stay. The rooms have record players and records to play in addition to a record lending library via reception. You can also borrow a plant to brighten your room if you wish. Happy hour in the lobby each evening serving local beer and wine. You can hire a bike for the day too. Close to tram and cable car. Rooms don't come with a kettle, tea or coffee, but they're available from reception on request. Staff are fabulous and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are clean and we'll presented. I'd stay again

“Nice hotel and not far from main part of Fisherman’s Wharf”

Kimpton Alton Hotel is one road back from seafront road at fisherman’s wharf - only 5 min walk. There was 3 of us ( all adults) with two queen beds ( bed was big enough for two of us) and room was large & on 3rd floor. As you walked in ( we did not hire a car whilst in San Francisco as walked or used hop on hop off bus), you had restaurant to you right which served breakfast and lunch/ evening meals. Breakfast not included and didn’t eat there so not sure of price, but restaurant looked busy at breakfast, lunch and dinner so would suggest it was good and I would book. We went to Boudin Bakery and had a breakfast wrap which was about $13. All food dearer in American than when we previously went. We arrived Thursday afternoon and stayed until Sunday morning. Had free wine 5-6pm so people could socialise with each other - seating available near reception, but we were out so did not attend it. When we arrived back at about 9/10 each night, there was a DJ (fri & sat) which sounded good. In a morning, there is free tea and coffee from6-10am, which you can take back to your room - decent tea for me ( English ). There was a record player in the room with a few records in the drawer but not music we knew. Would recommend the hotel to others.
