When you're looking to wander around Fisherman's Wharf trying out the various dining options, enjoy the entertainment on Pier 39, and wander through the shops on Ghirardelli Square - well you couldn't pick a better location for your hotel than the Kimpton Alton. Just a stones thorugh from all of the above, you're also only about 15 minutes walk from San Francisco Bay where you can take the ferry to Alcatraz. Back at the hotel the rooms offer very comfy beds, and cosy vibes that will allow you to relax after a day exploring Golden Gate City. Even better, they offer complimentary tea and coffee to kick start your day, and a complimentary wine and beer hour to wind down at the end of it! Couple that with the option of in-room spa treatments and you really will feel relaxed on this city break. The service on hand at this hotel is indeed top notch - there's even complimentary scooters on hand to use for the little ones to roam the city!

“Worst Hotel Experience Ever in San Francisco”

I used to love Kimpton Hotels - this place makes me question who in HR hired the staff here. First of all, this is NOT A 4-STAR HOTEL. No amenities, super basic rooms, not even a coffee aker or water in your room. Upon check in, when I complained about a $32 a night "resort fee" with absolutely no tangible benefits, the rude desk clerk threatened to cancel my reservation. He then brought out the manager who was equally rude and gave me some B-S about how $32 a night was the price we paid for their supposedly free cocktail hour. The A/C in my room was not functioning, and when I called to complain there was no apology and no offer of compensation for the wasted time repacking up all my stuff and moving my room. AVOID this hotel - you can do better!

“Worst Kimpton Ever”

We paid for a room with a “Bayview“ and it had an amazing view of the parking lot! Totally false advertising. We chose this hotel because of that and then they argued with us and made it very difficult. Bathrooms are also insane. No hooks, no magnifying mirrors, lights were out, zero places to put your stuff. Worst Kimpton I’ve ever stayed at. Avoid breakfast. Coffee and a pastry $21 because they include 20% tip on counter service.

“Dishonest staff and hidden charge”

The front desk themselves told me I could leave my luggage in the room between stays — I even confirmed twice. When I came back, I was charged for an extra night. The same staff avoided me and others blamed me, acting arrogant and dismissive. Manager refunded only after I pushed hard — no apology, no responsibility. Felt like a deliberate scam targeting Asian travelers, disguised as a “miscommunication.” Kimpton brand should be ashamed of this. I will never return. 프론트 직원이 직접 짐을 방에 두고 가도 된다고 두 번이나 확인해줬는데, 돌아오니 추가요금이 결제되어 있었습니다. 항의 후 환불은 받았지만 사과나 책임감은 전혀 없었고, 외국인(특히 아시아인)을 상대로 한 의도적인 속임수처럼 느껴졌습니다.
