The hotel

It’s said that life in San Francisco is best lived on the waterfront. Where better to sample it than at Hotel Zoe, a stroll from Pier 39 and the bay. Wander out and you’ll stumble upon many fabulous shops and eateries, or pop into the hotel’s Italian trattoria for homemade crab ravioli or roasted sea bass. They serve a delicious breakfast too - why not grab a table on the sidewalk and watch as Mason Street comes to life?

The room was OK, could not turn the fan off in the bathroom, which was annoying. Even though we had the do not disturb sign on the door they came in and did housekeeping service!! This is a major violation of my privacy!!! The breakfast buffet is $40 and their continental breakfast is $25, which is extremely expensive for the offerings. The bar had last call at 9:00 PM even though there were many tables that were still having dinner and ordering drinks. Plus the bartender was serving someone who was obviously inebriated and was having a wonderful conversation with him while we were waiting for him to wait on us. I made the mistake of coming back the following night. I was charged eight dollars for a Shirley Temple!! Which is Sprite with a splash of grenadine! My drink was $18 for less than two ounces of a mixed drink! There were ladies at the bar that were charged extra because they wanted more than their standard 2 ounces of wine!?!? I will never stay here again, especially since there are much nicer places in the area that won’t allow groups of loud, rowdy people hang out on the sidewalks adjacent to the hotel. Read less

He also went above and beyond by checking if our room was available earlier. Our valet attendant, Ben, was really nice and delivering our vehicle promptly. The rooms were very nice and the bed was comfortable to sleep with. The carpet in the hotel was soft too. My only suggestion is to replace the shower head or strengthen the water pressure more for a more satisfying bath. Other than that, highly recommended. Read less

Stayed 4 nights in July. Excellent stay. Handy for Fishermans Wharf and sightseeing around the city. Hotel very comfortable, rooms good size and clean with plenty of towels. Staff very friendly and helpful. Check in straight forward and ensured rooms close together. Would stay again and would recommend.

I just checked in, and the hotel looks nothing like the pictures. After paying for my reservation, I went up to the room and was shocked by how misleading the photos were. I returned to the front desk to cancel, but they said they couldn’t help because I booked through a third party. To make matters worse, there was only one staff member at the front desk, clearly overwhelmed, and it took a very long time to be assisted. I asked to speak with a manager, and was told there is no manager on duty — which is honestly unbelievable. A hotel should always have someone in charge, especially to assist guests with urgent concerns. Expedia has tried to help, but I’m stuck in a hotel I don’t feel comfortable staying in. This has been a frustrating and disappointing experience. Definitely not recommended. Read less
