    Put yourself slap-bang in the middle of some of San Francisco’s most fashionable theatres, restaurants, and sights. The boutique Marker Hotel is a great base — and its energy matches its setting. It was built in 1910 but you can still see its ‘Beaux Arts’ beauty in the lobby’s floor-to-ceiling fireplace and grand marble staircase. The hotel’s anything but olde-worlde though, with little touches like WiFi, and a Hydration Station providing fruit and herb infused water on tap.

    Where is it

    In the Tenderloin/Lower Nob Hill area of San Francisco, near Union Square’s shopping, the theatre district, museums, and endless dining. The hotel is also close to the Financial District and Moscone Convention Center. Transfer time from San Francisco International airport: 15 minutes.

    What a treat to stay at such a beautiful hotel. We were welcomed by lovely staff, given a huge bag of the most delicious popcorn and our rooms were large and spotless.     What a treat to stay at such a beautiful hotel. We were welcomed by lovely staff, given a huge bag of the most delicious popcorn and our rooms were large and spotless. They give out free morning coffee to start your day right and the social areas are just gorgeous. The only thing I would mention slightly is the location of this hotel. We loved it as a little way out of the San Francisco tourist spots of Pier 39 and we were travelling with older children so were very comfortable to walk and get taxis but maybe with younger children you'd prefer to be a little more central. If you do go though get the Waymo driverless taxis they were BRILLIANT. Read less

    We spent a very pleasant stay at the Marker hotel. Event if the location is close to streets with homeless and poverty, the hotel situation is perfect to visit the city by walk. Homeless are not really dangerous and you won't be disturbed. Room's bed is really comfortable and so quiet. If you don't take the coffee at the hotel restaurant, you can… Read more

If you don't take the coffee at the hotel restaurant, you can have free coffee and tea at the reception which is really good. We had a chance to discuss with Geo (guest reception) during our 3 days and he was really precious for us in term of advices. We had some trouble with our first room and he found a solution in less than 2 minutes to find another one. He was really pleasant and cheerfull each time we requested his help.     Nice hotel, good location, nice rooms and nice bar. Didn't like the Whiskey sour but thats my personal opinion. Would definitely stay there again.

The free coffee and tea in the morning is a lovely touch and all staff gave a gentle reminder when passing reception so it never felt awkward to go grab a cup!
