The hotel

If you're going to do a Californian road trip, you might as well do it in style right? And staying in an iconic air stream would fit that bill for sure. Think of it as camping, but still with a nice warm shower and a comfy bed to sleep in - oh and a fully functional kitchenette so you can whip up a storm and enjoy it out on your private deck. There's also a lovely pool to enjoy and weekly activities incuding yoga and live music, and if you don't fancy cooking each night - The Kitchen is on hand for you to grab a bite to eat or a nice glass of wine (after all, we are in California). Most importantly of all though, this is a great base for visiting Yosemite National Park. You're just 26 miles from Yosemite National Park's Arch Rock Entrance Station, so you can easily take a dip in the Merced River, chase waterfalls through Yosemite Valley, or explore the historic town of Mariposa.

All they care about is money. This is a pervasive aspect of the company culture. A perfect example of this is how they double book regular guests with "private" events like weddings. To put this into more clear terms, you can pay a thousand dollars here to sleep in a tent with your kids...and have music full of super inappropriate lyrics blasting until 10PM... and the best part is that they put the parties on the roof of the central clubhouse (so that they don't "waste" any space on the ground where they can cram in more airstreams like a sardine can)... so they are literally blasting it from high up in the middle of the property, and it reaches everywhere.... so you're sitting at your campfire with them blasting corny corny music to a bunch of super drunk people when you should be perfectly toasting s'mores with your kids to the sound of crickets instead. the people who work here will do nothing to make it right, too. they all know every event = a ton of pissed off people who didn't expect to be staying at someone else's party... but that the corporate venture capital backed management doesn't allow any way for them to do anything or fix the situation. it's by design, it's the intended outcome. AutoCamp prioritizes revenue over everything else. your "camp" trip may be cool. or it may be a traumatizing nightmare where your kids are kept up all night and learn a bunch of new cusswords. you're staying at an airstream sardine can factory created by a venture capitalist a*holes. I want to start by saying that I truly appreciated the unique ambiance and the airstream experience at AutoCamp Yosemite. It was the very reason my husband, our friends, and I chose this location for our getaway. Unfortunately, what could have been a memorable and restorative trip ended up highlighting capitalism at its best—prioritizing profit over the guest experience. During our stay, AutoCamp Yosemite hosted a private wedding on site, complete with a DJ blasting music at high volumes, including explicit lyrics about sex, drugs, and foul language. While I understand and respect the 10:00 pm noise policy (and yes, the music stopped promptly at 10:01 pm), the disruption leading up to that time clashed entirely with the peaceful, family-friendly, nature-focused environment AutoCamp promotes. To make matters worse, when multiple guests complained to the front desk, the response we received was essentially, “This was expected.” That type of dismissal made it clear that the comfort of paying guests had taken a back seat to the revenue brought in by hosting a private event. For us, this trip was meant to celebrate life after a friend’s survival of a major heart attack and also my birthday. Instead of finding peace and connection with nature, we were met with noise, explicit lyrics, and the realization that guest experience simply wasn’t the priority. AutoCamp Yosemite sells itself as an escape—an opportunity to unplug, unwind, and reconnect. Hosting events that undermine this promise not only impacts guest satisfaction but also risks the long-term reputation of the brand as a family-friendly destination. Capitalism at its best: a profitable night for AutoCamp, but a lost opportunity for loyal guests seeking the experience they were promised. Read less

Overall, we were pleased. The staff is wonderful, kind, and helpful. The pool is small but perfect for cooling off after a day of hiking. The accommodations are close together, and I was worried that it would be noisy, but it wasn't at all. Cooking out on our own fire pit was one of our favorite activities of the trip. We did find the Airstream to be tight for a family of four, and not as new and nice as pictured on the website, but overall, we enjoyed our stay. Read less

I had high hopes for our visit -- i'll start with the pros. Clubhouse was nice as it was spacious and had some lawn games. The kids enjoyed walking by the pond on our daily walks. They provide a wagon for you to transport your belongings to your accomodation. There are EV chargers onsite. A/C in our air stream was strong and sufficient. Good… Read more

They provide a wagon for you to transport your belongings to your accomodation. There are EV chargers onsite. A/C in our air stream was strong and sufficient. Good location to Yosemite. With that being said, cons: pool was closed for our entire stay which was a huge disappointment for our kids - said it would be open the following day but come the day staff didn't have a definitive answer, air stream itself was worn down which is to be expected with lots of foot traffic, the sponge had grass stuck all over it - makes me wonder what the previous guests used the sponge for (why wasn't it replaced?), body wash was completely empty -- appalled that your basic necessities were not checked and refilled for the next guests, paper towels were more than half empty and ran out on our 2nd night, on the 1st night ants got into our trash that next morning, there were no extra trash bags in either bathroom or kitchenette (usually there are extras in the trash bin). Felt a bit inconvenienced and that more effort and attention with housekeeping should've been had especially for the price we paid. It felt like housekeeping rushed through to turnover the air stream to the next guests. Not sure if we will be back to this location specifically. Read less

Okay, I really wanted to like the place. Because it has great potentials. The location is convenient to Yosemite, the airstreams are comfortable enough, I overall enjoyed the experience, minus the parts where I interacted with the staff. Now the staff, I only interacted with them during check in and check out, for twice. And both were horrendous experiences. One worse than another. First, when I checked in. I completely missed the front desk, because no one was there. Then a guy appeared out of nowhere behind me. no smile or anything, and proceeded to look down on the computer and asked for my last name, and without asking for anything else threw me the keycards with a map. I asked nicely if there is any other location available as I saw that the unit assigned was a bit too close to the road. Then he told me they were 100% booked. So I went to the first unit, and looked at the website and saw there were other units available, so I called the office and asked again to see if I can move. Was told again there were no other units. When I pointed out that there were indeed other units on their website, they tried to say something about the room type, which was a lie. There were only maybe 4 types of rooms, and the same type was listed on the website. After me insisting, the manager moved me to another unit. (I don’t like to throw hotel status around, but I’m a Hilton diamond, which means I can get upgrades in room type if available, I think that helps for context.) Which I appreciated. But that interaction need not happened. Okay, one bad apple, a small hiccup, I’m willing to look pass that. I enjoyed the rest of time there in my unit. Then the check out. It was the on site manager who helped me with switching the room. She was pleasant, smiled, and remembered my name. Then she told me I owed $50 for the breakfast that day. I was under the impression that we get $50 each day, so I let her know, not wanting to get into another situation. She’s actually the one that told me about the credit the first day. The other guy made no mention of anything that’s beneficial to guests. I stayed two nights and ordered breakfast twice. Then she told me the morning of check out is not covered. Which is exactly not how other hiltons function. She then told me that she couldn’t do anything about the charge, but she’s going to ask her manager about it later Not wanting to argue anymore at this point. I paid and got out of there. I doubt she’s going do anything, as they have been dishonest the whole time. So I’m really disappointed of the staff. If you can handle being treated badly and lied to by the staff, stay here. Otherwise, look elsewhere. Read less
