Pros: The proximity to the park is the biggest reason to stay here. So convenient. The general store has grab and go breakfast and lunch so you can stop by on your way to the park and get everything you need for the day. Best feature in my opinion. There are several areas to sit and to play on the property. The restaurant was good overall and it was so nice not to have to leave the property for dinner each night. The setting is beautiful. They offer rooms with a king bed for parents and two separate twin beds for older kids who can no longer share a bed. Cons: Honestly the only con was the sheer amount of very young children - like under 5 years of age. I wasn't expecting that, based on the how the resort is marketed. We have recently been to Fort Wilderness at Disney and the "vibe" was very similar - lots of babies and toddlers, lots of running around and screaming everywhere on the property - at Disney you expect it, but maybe not at an upscale place like Rush Creek. We tried to read or relax at the pool area, but it was difficult because of the constant screaming and the parents talking in loud baby voices to their children non-stop. They have two stand up shuffleboards, which our teen boys and I love to play together, but it was hard to use them because they were nearly always occupied by 2 and 3 year olds just going nuts on the board while their parents looked on. I am assuming that in the offseason this is not the case, but if you are a couple or looking for a quieter experience, probably August to May is best for you. I would still stay here again, but just be prepared for the daycare vibe in the summer season. Read less

My friend and I used Rush Creek Lodge last summer as a base for day hikes in Yosemite. It’s perfectly located for early-morning drives to trailheads like Cloud’s Rest. The facilities seem to be very nice, although we did not use them all as we came for the park more than the hotel. Still, we stayed in an upgraded hut with forest views and direct foot access to the sunset lookout point—a peaceful spot where we enjoyed sitting with coffee each evening as the sun went down (see some pics I attached). The restaurant is OK—nothing exceptional, but decent and convenient. That said, the sister lodge deeper in the forest, Evergreen Lodge, has better food and `adventurous` atmosphere. Of course, it’s about a 10-minute drive farther from Yosemite, which slightly reduces the convenience. Due to a double-booking, we were moved from Evergreen to Rush Creek at the last minute, but we were thoroughly and fairly compensated for the inconvenience—so no hard feelings there. We still went to eat and drink at Evergreen. Overall, this is a well-run place that enchances the Yosemite experience. Read less

Overall, we had a fantastic trip as first timers to Yosemite. We did two excursions and Tyler who was our tour guide for both was absolutely fantastic. Our whole family enjoyed listening to him tell us about Yosemite and how it was made throughout history. He was extremely passionate and knowledgeable in Yosemite‘s history and how it came to be. Rush Creek Lodge was in a nice location to get in and out of Yosemite although it’s definitely showing its age and could use some upgrades in the individual rooms. In addition there are a lot of little kids at this resort that our teenage kids did not want to go in the pool until later in the night, although that wasn’t a major concern since we were out hiking throughout the day but just something to keep in mind if you have older kids.
