We had a great stay overall, based on the amazing friendliness of the staff, cleanliness, location, and amenities.
We booked multiple rooms in the Iberville Tower for ourselves and extended family (one king suite, one double suite, and two king rooms), and it worked out really well having everyone on the same floor. The only real downside was the view from our room (1527), and it was honestly awful. The bedroom window was small (none in the living area), appeared to be painted shut, and the view was basically pipes, a wall, and the hallway of the next building (see photo). Meanwhile, two of the other rooms in our group (1532 and 1533), just down the hall, had large windows, river views, and lots of natural light. I am guessing that all the rooms in the Iberville tower that end in -27 or -29 have similar views.
I do think if the views vary that much, it would be helpful if there were some sort of “no view” or “obstructed view” designation (or pricing difference) so you know what to expect.
That said, my husband did point out that we had a direct view into the 14th floor hallway of the Bienville Tower—which is supposedly haunted—so if that’s your thing, maybe it’s a bonus!
Everything else was great. The staff were all incredibly nice, the hotel itself is beautiful—historic with really nice modern touches—and everything was very clean. Elevators were quick, suites (especially with the extra half bath) were a great size, and room service was prompt and good. The view of the city from the pool at night was beautiful, as was the pool area. And as everyone mentions, the location is perfect.
Overall, we would definitely stay again… just hopefully in a room with a better view next time.
