Hotel Monteleone

The hotel

This is not just one of New Orleans finest hotels, this is a film set – movies such as Double Jeopardy with Tommy Lee Jones and The Last Time with Michael Keaton have been filmed here. It has been said, time and time again, that the French Quarter begins in the lobby of the Monteleone and it truly does, capturing the very essence of what makes New Orleans so very special. A member of the Historic Hotels of America, you will adore your stay here, revelling in a grandeur only the Deep South can provide, and traditional decor within your room that adds a timeless touch to your stay. However, the hotel has also recently renovated rooms within the Iberville Tower if you are looking for some calmer colours. Admire stunning views from the sundeck surrounding the rooftop swimming pool, a truly blissful place to chill out, cocktail in hand and a good book beside you. At night, your starting point should be the Carousel Bar & Lounge - this has been the most celebrated bar in New Orleans since 1949, and it's still spinning, quite literally. Don't worry, the rotation is very subtle so you can still enjoy your classic cocktail at ease!

Wow!!! I had an above amazing stay at the Hotel Monteleone!!! This is definitely a first class hotel and located in the French Quarter the location was great for a person like me who loves to walk. Little did I know when I had signed up for my Road Scholar trip that I would be staying at this historic family owned hotel. From the minute you walk through the beautiful two front doors you are greeted by this beautiful and classic lobby. For me the thing that really stood out was the warm and friendly staff so willing to help and go above and beyond. Every staff member was a pleasure to engage with. There are a few staff that I must mention because I feel lucky enough to have personally engaged with. My first experience was with the delightful Danielle from house keeping. I came in a day early and the first morning felt like a dummy thinking my Keurig was broken and contacted the front desk. Danielle immediately appeared and I discovered all I hadn’t done was set the cut under the dispenser. I mentioned that I was mostly a tea drink and she quickly disappeared & returned with more than enough tea for me to enjoy the rest of my stay. Danielle also noticed I had already drank my water and also brought with her extra waters. She was so sweet and I felt I was off to a great start. The first morning of our tour we had a fabulous buffet breakfast in an adjacent building. As I was deciding what I wanted I was greeted by the wonderful Russel!! We quickly struck up a conversation as he insured all the fresh fruit and hot dishes were full. Every morning I looked forward to seeing and chatting with Russel with his warm smile and gentle humor. Lastly I must mention the effervescent Ronald who was a waiter at the Carousel Bar. We were lucky to find a table for 2 and was quickly greeted by him. I’m a gin drinker and asked for recommendations. I wish I could remember the name of the cocktail but it was delicious!! When 2 seats became available at the bar he immediately made us aware. Lastly I have to mention the door men. I wish I could remember their names but what a marvelous first impression. Every time exiting and entering the hotel they were there with their friendly great big smiles to help with the doors. I have never experienced such a delightful staff whose pleasant service seemed so genuine!!!! Read less

The hotel is “old fashioned” in all the good ways. Quality, style and excellent service. The staff are amazing and make you feel that nothing is too much trouble. From the door staff onwards, it was amazing. The rooms are small-ish and this is made worse by the growing trend of packing too many chairs into a small room. But they are clean,… Read more

From the door staff onwards, it was amazing. The rooms are small-ish and this is made worse by the growing trend of packing too many chairs into a small room. But they are clean, well appointed and the air con was effective. The bathroom was generous in size and very clean. We had a breakfast on the last day of our stay and it was amazing. Very close to the main area of the city so very convenient for walking out to see things and then popping back for a rest. Read less

The hotel is as good as advertised. It is one block off of Bourbon Street. It is an easy walk to the Park along the Mississippi River. The service at the hotel was excellent.
