Leaky enough that it was soaking the whole bathroom and it was LOUD. Took them 2 days to send someone up and when they did it was 8 am on a Saturday. Literally who in NOLA is up then? This was a regular occurrence-housekeeping banging on our door at 8-9 am. The clientele that stays in this hotel over the weekend is loud at all hours of the night and the walls are thin. Everything is just a little shabby...they really need to redo the carpets, the bathrooms etc. Read less

I came for a conference and added three nights for leisure. The first four days were on the company card, a second reservation was required for the remaining nights. The hotel description says newly-renovated -- lobby was shabby and decorated in Y2K style darkness, bathroom light fixtures rusty, trim around ceiling fixtures missing, furniture scuffed. The front steps look like the entrance to a flophouse -- a dark and dank space with heavily tarnished brass rails. The bunch of sweaty smokers sitting around day and night didn't help the image. I had to visit the front desk six times (causing me to miss large parts of the conference I was there to attend) to address problems that should never have happened: - Wrong room - full beds instead of a king. I'm too old for that nonsense but didn't want to face the line at the front desk, so we unpacked. The iron spat sand and dirt all over the white linen dress I brought for "White Linen Night", awesome. At bedtime, we discovered the charging block didn't work. We waited until the next morning. - Went to the front desk, moved to a king. I also told them about the hole in the bathroom ceiling, unhooked toilet seat, and the non-working outlets. - The king room was nicer, except for the blood on the wall. They came up and took care of that. At least I didn't slide off the toilet like in the last room. - Upon check-in, the front desk clerk told us the hours of our free breakfast. Wednesday morning, I saw they charged it to our room. $60 x 2 for eggs and juice. Back to the front desk, who told me, in essence, "too bad, you must have misunderstood". I told her I hadn’t and suggested a compromise: extend the $20 per room breakfast rate, and I'll pay that. I could only assume she was being intentionally obtuse by refusing, so I left it for another day. (The first part of my stay was on a company credit card, which specifically said no room charges. They had not taken my card for a deposit so I don’t know how they expected that to shake out...). - Came back down again to address the $120 worth of eggs. A new desk clerk confirmed that the hotel has no way to remove those charges. I channeled my inner Karen and asked for a manager, seeing as I've been patient with the bloody wall, non-working electronics, a hole in the ceiling, a ruined a dress, and a host of other issues. God bless her, she must have recited the whole list because when the manager came out, he immediately agreed to remove the charges. - That breakfast that cost $30 each... mostly inedible. The guy making omelets did a great job, but everything on the buffet was sitting at room temperature. That's not how sausage and crawfish ought to work. - The elevator doors are dirty, and there's a big plastic-covered box in the lobby. Odd for a "newly renovated hotel". - Visited the pool but left because a bunch of people were using a hookah that made the deck smell like a cheap car freshener. Yes, I tattled, but had to call four times before anyone picked up. - I planned to check out at the front desk since at this point I didn't trust them or their billing. I waited in line for 40 minutes without moving. They did not conclude a single transaction in that time. The folio they email you for checkout has no instructions on digital checkout. To check out online I had to search through 4 or 5 pages on the site to find the checkout page. FIVE FREAKIN" PAGES! All this said, the staff was (mostly) lovely. The bed was comfy enough. In summary: you can find a better hotel for less money. Do it. Read less

We stayed in the Sheraton new orleons recently, due to me attending a conference there. It seemed to be absolutely packed out as not only was our conference on, but there was also a UFC fight and the endure youth gathering where many stayed in the Sheraton. The hotel is really cool, with an inviting foyer, great bell service and situated perfectly for sight seeing so you can just walk straight and be near main attractions really quickly (or a street car is right outside). We had our room upgraded as apparently the tradition 2 bed had been overbooked. The room was beautiful, with a kitchenette, sofa/lounge area, amazing view of the city and a queen bed. It also had a sofa pull out bed which our two children slept on. The only reason I haven’t given this 5 star review is due to the check-in experience. We turned up after 23hrs of travelling at 7pm (3 hours after check-in) and our room wasn’t ready due to issues with housekeeping. We then waited for an hour, and when we arrived at our room, there was only one bed made up with no sofa bed pulled out (we also weren’t told it was a sofa bed). We had to speak with reception again; and then once the sofa bed was established, we then had to request two pillows which took another 45 minutes to come. If this was just us, we would have gone out for dinner but with a 2 and 5 year old, who were suffering from jet lag, sleeping on the sofas in the foyer, and then no apology or compensation for this, it felt very disappointing and frustrating. We are going to put it down to how busy the hotel was, and overall, we would say book the hotel as its location, cleanliness and views from our specific suite were beautiful. Be warned, at busy times, you can be wait in around 20 minutes or more (I waited 30+ minutes with two children and a stroller) for the lifts! Read less

Key system was down so first night so had to wait on a desk clerk to let me in my room every time. Next morning went to the front desk to get the key fixed and the not so nice (well she hardly spoke, so..) fixed my key. Went back up and key didn’t work. Back down. She the called someone to come fix my door. Not a single apology. I get it, systems go down and I understand but you can be nice about it. After about 30 minutes of dealing with this I finally have a working key. The ugly. So my company books our stay for us. I’m a titanium elite member but because my company booked my room they don’t give me any of my hard earned benefits. No lounge access or breakfast. I repaid the favor and didn’t give them any of my hard earned money for food and drinks. Come on Marriott, you can do better. That’s why I left Hilton. Read less
