We stayed in the club level. Highly recommend paying extra. Includes breakfast and afternoon hor dourves. Dora was very friendly and provided great service. Hotel is convenient to French Quarter and River Walk Shopping. Near a casino too.

Bellhop noticed and encouraged us to change rooms while noting the hotel needs a renovation. Does it ever… Next room much if the same. Worn out stained carpet. Mildew smell. Furniture so old and banged up. Can’t imagine how old the matress is , as we sank in the middle of the bed. Bathroom is old and gross. No fan, shower floor has some stuck on vinyl thing growing mildew. The head sprays water in many directions. I’m in Nola for a convention and seems otherwise accommodations are sold out so I’m stuck here and miserable. I can’t understand why anyone would stay here after checking in. This reminds me more of an hourly motel off a freeway! Read less

I usually don't write reviews because I am a busy lady who travels often, however, I found this to be an exceptional circumstance: Location and Accessibility The Monkey’s Paw: The area was decently walkable, but definitely had some sketchy elements. While waiting for my conference shuttle, I was aggressively harassed by taxi drivers. I didn’t feel safe walking around alone and needed a chaperone to feel secure. Not a great first impression. Service Grown adults acting like exhausted teenagers: I’m a Gold Elite member of Marriott Bonvoy, and not once during my stay was I thanked or even acknowledged for my loyalty. I confirmed they recognized my status—so they simply chose not to care. Unfortunately, this also meant no perks except some points? The front desk staff were cold, dismissive, and visibly irritated. No smiles. No eye contact. No pleasantries. The bell desk was worse. We dropped our luggage there before check-in, and the men behind the counter acted as if we were bothering them, very snippy too. I tend to be friendly and polite, but it didn’t soften them in the slightest. Room Disservice: Wow, was the room service bad. I love ordering room service when I travel, but this was just sad. For double the price of the meal, I expected a tray with flatware and an actual plate to eat off of. Instead, I got a paper bag of plastic containers shoved at me like a takeout order. The man who brought my food just stuck his arm out with the bag when I answered the door, and left before I could look in the bag. Wild! Worst room service ever! I spent $40 on a piece of cake and a very basic entree salad. We don’t care how your stay was, but we have to ask!: Upon check-out, it was like they were being forced when they asked how my stay was, and with a cringed face I said “it was just ok…” and they didn’t even follow up, look at me, or acknowledge that I didn’t give the standard “great!”. So I didn’t tell them about the ceiling leak in my room, because clearly, they didn’t want to know! Room Quality Moist Depression: I stayed in 1518. The view was kind of abysmal, but the city itself isn’t particularly picturesque on Canal Street. The lighting was very cold and dim. The room had no functional fan (including in the bathroom) or means of circulating the air so it was kind of stale. When the people above me took a shower, the water poured through the ceiling into my shower, so much that I thought I had left my shower running. Overall, a sort of banged-up room and hotel in general. I get the vibe that the hotel is understaffed for the amount of wear and tear that is not being maintained. Lobby furniture is dingy and visibly dirty! Get in there with a steam cleaner, people! Wifi costs if you aren’t a Bonvoy member, but I was, so that was ok. Noise - not soundproof, but not problematic!: No real issue with outdoor noise or A/C noise - so good there! There was an off-key circus-y song playing every afternoon outside that my colleague complained about, but it was whatever. Hallway noise carried into my room, though. I could clearly hear people talking at normal volume, which was awkward. Amenities A Bar & A Starbucks: I am always happy to patronize the on-site amenities and restaurants. I prefer to eat at the hotel where I am staying. There was one restaurant, a bar, and a Starbucks at this 29+ story hotel… And only the bar was open for lunch and dinner. I did have Starbucks every morning, I ordered ahead to avoid waiting in the crowd. I ate from the bar several times, since there weren’t other options. The menu was underwhelming, and the prices didn’t match the quality. No Mini Fridge but also… No Dining!?: It’s audacious to remove in-room mini fridges while also giving guests only one food option. If you're going to nudge guests toward hotel dining, maybe offer more than one place to eat? To their credit: the chocolate cake slapped. My colleagues also raved about the bread pudding. Yes, Mini Pool… with Roaches: We went to the pool, and there were cockroaches. I can’t say that I have seen a cockroach in years, but I knew that's what they were. It’s a laughably TINY pool for the number of rooms. With practically no view. This is more of an architectural issue. Never again!: This was a pick by my workplace for a conference, and I will be sharing my opinion on where we should stay for this conference next year. Four Stars? Generous: My understanding of the criteria for hotel ratings at worst is based on amenities; At best, it’s based on service and quality. The Sheraton New Orleans is rated a Four, though a Three would be fair based on other 3-star hotels I have been subjected to. Let’s end on a positive note: To be fair, I’m chalking a lot of these issues up to understaffing. This is a massive, conference-oriented hotel, and it shows. But for the money and reputation that the Sheraton brand carries, I expected a far better investment in staff training, maintenance, and hospitality. That said, the chocolate cake was phenomenal, the lobby smelled amazing, and the artwork of the Louisiana graveyard dog was charming. Read less
