We had a genuinely amazing time in Memphis and on Beale Street, but this stay was a real mix of highs and lows.
The Booking Nightmare: Booking with points through Hyatt.com reservations over the phone was a confusing mess, the agent left me more unsure about my points than when I called. On top of that, there were unexplained charge issues that I believe have been sorted out, just waiting on statement to come out, but it shouldn’t have taken that much back-and-forth in the first place.
Rude on the Phone: When I called the hotel directly with simple questions about parking, I was met with a rude, impatient staff member. Not the kind of first impression a guest should get before even arriving.
The Rooftop Fireworks Fiasco: This one stung. We planned our whole holiday around watching fireworks from the rooftop bar, only to find out the day-of that it required tickets for guests, tickets that were already sold out and we tried to book immediately when told. This should have been communicated at check-in or even at booking. Total letdown that could’ve easily been avoided with better communication.
Now for the good — and it was REALLY good:
Despite arriving at 12:30am, the front desk agent was top-notch, professional and welcoming, no complaints there at all.
All areas of this Hotel were exceptionally clean and one of the cleanest I have been in.
Floyd deserves his own paragraph. Thank you Floyd! Every single morning I caught him out back smoking brisket or cooking for hotel events, and if you get the chance to try his food, DO IT. Hands down one of the best parts of our stay. Floyd, you’re the man!
The PMC Valet team was outstanding across the board. My car sat right out front the whole stay and was clearly well taken care of. Special shoutout to Brandon, Raymond, and Gus you guys went above and beyond, and it did not go unnoticed. Thank you!
And the view of the fireworks over the Mississippi from the back deck was absolutely stunning, one of the best parts of the whole trip.
Bottom line: The booking process and communication around hotel events need serious work, and the rude phone call was unacceptable. But the staff on the ground especially Floyd and the PMC Valet crew made this stay memorable in all the right ways. Beale Street itself was a blast. We’d come back, but Hyatt needs to fix the front-end experience.
