Image of the Tripadvisor rating Really nice, amazing property: sometimes it’s challenging to run such a massive property

Overall, this property is exceptionally impressive. It’s huge. Each section probably has the equivalent of four normal hotels, and there are four or five sections. There are probably a dozen full-size restaurants in the property easily. First the good stuff: we had a mini suite, or what I would call, a slightly larger than normal room. The bed… Read more
Overall, this property is exceptionally impressive. It’s huge. Each section probably has the equivalent of four normal hotels, and there are four or five sections. There are probably a dozen full-size restaurants in the property easily. First the good stuff: we had a mini suite, or what I would call, a slightly larger than normal room. The bed was comfortable, had a little mini fridge, and we had two sinks, which was nice. The property was pretty clean, although… The stuff that needs improvement: housekeeping was spotty at best. We were there four or five nights, we actually only had the room cleaned once. Well, it was cleaned a second time when I found a housekeeper in the hallway and asked her to do it. I called the helpline every day, which is an AI, bot, which promised to take care of the problem every day. That never worked. They were quick to bring up towels and stuff. They’re adding on and doing a lot of construction currently, and that meant sometimes the slight inconvenience of having to walk outside or through a really long detour. It would be really nice if they would be able to give you some sort of estimate on when those doors would be open again. They also probably should take a minute and make sure they have enough people to service the giant crowd they already have before they add on. There were lots of restaurants, and we had no trouble getting dinner any night. Getting a coffee or a quick snack was more challenging with pretty long lines and a lot of new people. Overall, with a waterpark, shopping, restaurants, etc., you barely need to ever leave. However, there’s a really nice mall within walking distance. Overall, it’s an interesting experience to stay there, and I would recommend trying it Read less

We recently stayed at the Gaylord Opryland Resort for the National TSA Conference and were blown away by the stunning property. The grounds are beautiful, and the overall atmosphere is impressive. However, for the price point and reputation, there were several frustrating issues during our stay. The power went out on our first night, which created a rough start. Later in the week, I got stuck in one of the elevators, which was a bit unnerving. Throughout the stay, the Wi-Fi was inconsistent at best, making it tough to stay connected—especially during a work-focused trip. Additionally, while some restaurants on property were excellent, others didn’t quite live up to expectations in terms of food quality for the price. That said, the staff at the Cascade Restaurant were a bright spot. In particular, Keke and another lovely woman wearing an ankle boot (her name slipped my mind) went above and beyond to make breakfast a pleasant experience each morning. Their warm personalities and great service really stood out and deserve to be recognized. Overall, the resort has a lot of potential and many positive qualities—but the infrastructure and consistency in service need attention. We’re hopeful the resort will address these issues moving forward. Read less

Be prepared to exercise some patience and keep an eye on your bill. Our dinner server charged $40 for a $18 drink. It appears that most of the staff are new, as check-in took nearly 45 minutes. On the positive side, the hotel is clean, kid-friendly, and offers a variety of activities. There are several dining options available to cater to different preferences. The arcade is entertaining, and the ice cream and movie offering are a nice touch. I would consider returning, but only if I had the kids with me and needed to stay at the hotel. For a couples trip or if I didn't plan to stay at the hotel, I would choose a different place. Read less

Excellent place to stay—highly recommended! We thought this apartment was great and would absolutely stay again. It's cozy but plenty big for four people, extremely quiet, and very clean. Everything you need for a comfortable stay of several days is provided. Location can't be beat The apartment is just steps from everything—San Marco Plaza, restaurants, and shops. You really can’t ask for a better location. Some people have commented on the lack of a sitting area, but unless you plan to entertain, it’s not necessary. Being so close to all the sights more than makes up for it. Well-stocked with thoughtful touches There were many nice extras provided: coffee pods, shampoo, conditioner, makeup remover pads, a manicure kit, and a sewing kit. The small refrigerator includes a freezer and even an ice cube maker. Beds are comfortable, and there is a washer (note: no dryer, but a drying rack is provided, which is typical in Italy). Comfort and climate considerations The apartment has air conditioners in both bedrooms and window screens for when it’s cool enough to open the windows. There are also shutters that help keep the rooms cool. Note that Italy's AC systems aren’t built for extreme heat, and you’re asked to keep the temperature at 24°C—which is still perfectly comfortable for sleeping. Useful details to know There are stairs to reach the first floor, as is common in Venice—you enter at street level and walk up. The apartment uses a physical key for entry and electricity (insert the key to activate power). A keypad is used for the main door. Arrival and local assistance Veronica recommended a limousine service from Trieste (where our cruise ended) to the apartment. It was more reasonably priced than what I found online and included the boat transfer to the dock nearest the apartment. Carla met us at the dock and walked us to the apartment, which is especially helpful since Venice can be a labyrinth. A note on Venice in general Be prepared—little is cheap in Venice. Since everything is brought in, even food is expensive. That said, the experience is absolutely worth it. Final thoughts I’m including these details so others know what to expect. If you read carefully, you’ll be able to decide if this apartment suits your vacation style. For us, it was a fantastic choice. Read less

We recently stayed at the Gaylord Hotel. While the overall environment is beautiful and the rooms were clean, the service unfortunately didn’t meet the expectations for a hotel in this price range and category. Check-in started well — a lovely lady at the front desk welcomed us and promised a room with a nice view. However, we were given a room facing the back with garbage bins. It wasn’t a big issue for us as we were only there to sleep, and she was kind enough to give us helpful tips about the city. The second day, breakfast was a challenge. The dining area was too small for such a large hotel, and we had to wait 20–25 minutes for a table — something that really should be managed better. Later, I needed to use a dryer for my husband’s pants (which I had already washed myself), but was told it’s not available unless we used the full laundry service. I agreed, but they informed me it would take two days, which wasn’t an option since we were checking out the next day. On the day we left, we couldn’t find our car in the parking lot. It turned out I had accidentally parked in the valet area and only remembered the spot number (starting with 400). Unfortunately, no one could assist us, and we spent nearly an hour looking for the car, eventually missing our flight. We decided to return and give the hotel one more try, but were charged $571 for the night — no flexibility was offered, as we were told it was high season. Bottom line: If you're planning to stay at the Gaylord Hotel, be prepared for long waiting times — even for simple things like breakfast or room service. It’s a lovely place, but the service needs improvement to match the hotel's high prices and reputation. Read less
