Platinum Elite Approved – Shayla & Kerry Made the Trip!
As a Marriott Platinum Elite member and Hyatt Globalist, I travel often and have come to expect a certain standard — including room upgrades when available. I was in Nashville for a guys weekend, and we chose the Sheraton Nashville Downtown primarily for its location. It’s just a few blocks from Broadway’s bars, restaurants, and nightlife, which made it the perfect home base for the weekend.
The room itself was exactly what I’d expect from a Sheraton — clean, comfortable, and nicely appointed. No complaints there.
The club lounge, however, was a bit underwhelming compared to other Marriott lounges I’ve experienced. It wasn’t bad, just not particularly memorable.
But here’s the thing — the crown jewel of this hotel isn’t the rooms or even the location.
It’s Shayla and Kerry at the main lobby bar.
Hands down, they were the best bartenders we encountered all weekend — and we visited a lot of bars. As i also happen to hold Globalist status with Hyatt, and I jokingly mentioned that I’ve had better stays with Hyatt than Marriott. That’s all Shayla needed to hear. She made it her personal mission to convert me back to Team Marriott.
The playful banter, the friendly competition, the jokes — it made the night. She even got us access to the Sky Lounge rooftop for nightcaps, which was a fantastic touch and completely unexpected. That level of service is what separates a good stay from a great one.
If you travel a lot, you know — every once in a while, you run into a rock star employee who takes your trip to the next level.
Shayla was that person for us.
Because of her (and Kerry), I’ll absolutely stay at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown again next time I’m in town. Loyalty programs matter — but great people matter more.
5 stars for service where it counts.
