As a lifetime elite Titanium Bonvoy Member- who just returned from a special wedding anniversary week at the Sheraton Kaua’i - our stay was a huge disappointment which is u fortunate as it was for an important anniversary. There are numerous Bonvoy properties on Kauai- and we chose The Sheraton Kauai Resort for its direct location on the beach. What is sad is that it is an excellent location — BUT has not been updated, does not have the staff needed, and does not speak to the beauty of Hawaii or the caliber of Bonvoy’s other hotels. In a nut shell- Upon our late evening 9:00 PM arrival after a long flight- we were told when we checked in that the only place we could get a soda was from a vending machine hidden behind the pool area in the complex across the street from the building where our room was located. Literally- a 1975 vending machine. We walked along a pathways in the dark and finally found the tired 1975 vending machine. Then crossed back across the street to our room. This should have been a clue. The next day we headed to the restaurant for breakfast. There is no lounge at this hotel, but we were told that the continental breakfast was included as we are elite members. We have experienced the standard continental breakfast at their hotels all over the world- BUT this was a new low. We were allowed to order one of five breakfasts on the menu. All very odd food combinations. No substitutions- no change of combinations- the only protein offered was a cold tiny 2” diameter egg Frittata which was served with pineapple slices- no toast- no muffin- no croissant- we asked! We were told that if we wanted a croissant or toast , we would have to pay for that off the menu. The “cereal option breakfast” did however come with a small croissant—-(2 Carbs together??) so we chose that and fed the birds the dry cereal. Needless to say- we went out for breakfast from then on. The nicer of the two pool areas is small and cramped- think 1970s swimming pool surrounded by lounge chairs - near the beach(you can hear the beach) and by the breakfast restaurant. You can rent a red circus “bungalow” tent for the day- behind the pool even further from the beach for $225 a day! Or a hooded wood chair where you can actually see the beach for $75 a day. No thank you. The hotel is divided in half by a road - one side of the road is on the beach and the other building (with Kitchenettes) is not. The beach side building lobby (the more pricy rooms) never had anyone at the front desk for SIX days! Seriously- no greeter- no “how can we help you”- no concierge… just two empty desks! I actually went into a “welcome center” down the hall from the unmanned lobby to ask for a local map and the three individuals at desks eating cinnamon rolls (never saw them for breakfast!) told me to go across the street to the concierge over there. I then suggested that they either get a stack of local maps from the numerous free maps around town if Sheraton could not provide any information at the “welcome center” in the building on the beach. Oh- I have a long list of shortcomings but no need to go further. All in all- it was a hug disappointment. We have been to Hawaii three times before- different islands. Always stayed at Bonvoys. We wrongfully assumed that this Sheraton resort would be the same caliber of other places we have stayed. We LOVE Bonvoy properties. (We even had lunch before flying out at a restaurant (Dukes) at a beautiful Marriott in Lihui.) But this Sheraton is not what we have grown to expect after decades of Marriott/ Bonvoy stays. It may have been decades ago- but no longer. What is really sad is that it COULD be! The location is incredible and the rooms in the second building are right on the water. But that is where the “good stuff” ends. T Read less

It’s a nice hotel and service is good. I like all staff I dealt with. Self parking could be busy sometimes but they allow to use valley parking spots for free. But there are small disappointing details. Sand beach is very attractive but the hotel has only one shower to wash out sand after swimming and this shower is not in a good shape. Also it’s far from the beachfront property we stayed in. Hotels WiFi Is a close to a joke in the evening time. I can tell the same about is hotel’s internet TV which is not accessible in high demand time. Read less

I’ve stayed here twice on a vacation package. The biggest issue is that all “hotel rooms” (as opposed to studio+) have doors to the room next door. Sitting on the bed, I could hear every word of the conversation next door - even though they were not speaking loudly. The hotel told me my only option was to pay more for a studio. The studio was nice aside from a semi-functional dishwasher - but I should not have to pay more for something as basic as not hearing every conversation next door. While the hotel claimed people rarely comment on this, the sales staff were very aware of this issue. WiFi is always crashing - just ask them for the “secret” network to resolve the problem. Overall the facilities are nice and clean, the staff are good, but you will need to advocate for yourself a lot. Read less

The location of the Sheraton Kauai Resort is absolutely perfect—right on a stunning stretch of beach with gorgeous sunsets every night. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the overall vibe is very relaxing and peaceful. That said, the rooms were just average. They could definitely use some updating, especially considering the price point. Food options on the property were okay, but nothing stood out and choices felt limited for a resort of this caliber. Also, the WiFi was frustratingly slow and spotty throughout the property, which made staying connected a bit of a hassle. If your priority is beach access and beautiful surroundings, it’s a solid choice. Just don’t expect luxury-level amenities across the board. Read less

We had a wonderful stay at the Sheraton Kauai Resort! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm, personal welcome from Sheryl at the front desk, who made us feel truly valued as guests. Her friendliness set the tone for the entire visit. Throughout our stay, the service was excellent—especially at the on-site dining options. Maynel at the Link Café went above and beyond every morning with attentive, cheerful service that stood out. The resort itself is in a spectacular oceanfront location, with breathtaking views, very clean rooms, and well-maintained grounds. We had read reviews noting that the property is a bit older, so we came in with slightly lower expectations—but we were pleasantly surprised. Not only did it feel fresh and nicely updated, but we also stayed at a couple of newer resorts during our trip and ended up preferring the Sheraton for its quieter, more relaxed, and personal atmosphere. One of the biggest highlights was the beach directly in front of the resort. It was ideal for swimming and felt far less crowded than other resort beaches we visited across the island. It quickly became our favorite spot play to relax. We’re so glad we chose the Sheraton Kauai and look forward to returning in the future! Read less
