My family and I (hubby, son + 3 of his best friends) just returned from Maui. We really enjoyed our stay, 7/7 through 7/12. I highly recommend it. Ratings: Accomodation: 10/10. We had an ocean view room and it was spectacular. We were facing the west side so we watched the sunset almost every day. The room even had motion sensor night lights under the bed and in the bathroom. You won't have to fumble around to use the bathroom at night. Location: 10/10. The hotel has pools and it's right on the beach. Enjoy both within easy walking distance. It's also less than a mile from Whaler's Village (shopping center with multiple stores and restaurants). You can walk along the boardwalk or take the free shuttle there. It's close to other hotels (Marriott, Westin, Kaanapali, Ali'i, Sheraton) so you can eat at those restaurants as well. Pools: 10/10. There are 2 at this location, one for everyone and one for the kids with slides (very family friendly). The pools are heated! In addition, they are not cheap with towels. There are towel stations all over the resort to pick up and drop off. Unlike another resort in Honolulu that gives you one per card (aka HHV). Service: 9/10. Mostly everyone was friendly and professional. If you skip a day of cleaning, you will be credited $10 per day. Atmosphere: 10/10. The vibe was so nice. You're on an island and everyone is happy because they're on vacation. What's not to love? There are penguins and swans on the property. Everything was so inviting. Restaurants on-site: 8/10. We ate at Japengo and Umalu. Food was good/excellent but not exceptional. Both were good but pricey for what you get, which is the norm on any island in Hawaii. The only exception I feel is Mama's Fish House (pricey but worth it). There are lots of places to eat, so don't limit yourselves to the hotel's restaurants. Overall, we had a great stay. I highly recommend the Hyatt Regency Maui. In fact, I already made reservations for the same time next year. I hope this was helpful if you're trying to decide where to stay in Maui. If you choose this property, I hope you have the same awesome experience we had. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Mahalo! Read less

The instructors Rae and Kylie are wonderful. The self-checkout towel kiosks are genius. The resort has ample seating space on the property to enjoy the beautiful views. The lovely talking birds on the property and the penguins add a cute touch. Proximity to Whaler's village on a short beach walk and an additional free shuttle were both convenient. Shared use of the facilities between Hyatt regency and Hyatt vacation rentals is very helpful too. Great resort to pick for a return stay. Only thing is the rooms can use a bit of upgrade. And stay away from the hertz counter on the property. The inexperienced kid that the actual owner of the agency has left there, has no idea about the rental business or dealing with the customers. The best vacation you can go on with small kids. The staff must all be parents because they are patient with kids (who are everywhere btw, so don’t be afraid to bring yours) and immediately start interacting with your little ones. The pool is great for families, the staff is over the top friendly, the spa is absolutely jaw-dropping, and do yourself the favor of getting a club pass. It makes a huge difference. We don't typically like to stay in hotels when vacationing as a family, but decided to spend one night at the Hyatt Regency at the end of our recent trip to Maui and wish we had stayed longer! Rooms have been nicely updated and we all had a blast at the pools. Was a great way to relax and end our trip after adventuring around the island all week.
