“Not our first but prob our last”

Location of this hotel is great and nice proximity to downtown. This was not our first day although it may be our last. We have stayed here several times over the last five years when our son attended school there. We went back so we could visit some of our favorite places and chose this because it’s very easily walkable to restaurants in both Annapolis and Eastport. we checked into a king room and we’re greeted by a portable air-conditioning unit and duct tape on the windows to help filter the air-conditioning unit outside. There was a crack in the ceiling and the shower itself was definitely moldy and could use a good clean. But the cherry on top was there was no hot water for our showers both Sunday and Monday. I did go to the front desk and was offered breakfast, but we had plans to meet friends in town so they ended up giving us the credit towards our visit of $25 each. $50 total and because my husband is a gold member on Bonvoy 15,000 additional points but they need to be approved so we’re not sure if that will actually happen. Just be warned it’s definitely showing it’s wear and tear

This was my 3rd stay at this property (actually a few weeks earlier in the year but the drop down review menu stopped in Sep) but the first since it was sold off by Marriott. There simply is no better location in Annapolis for views and convenience, but (alas) the hotel is really feeling its age. The air worked in the rooms (we had two for our party of 2 couples) but seemed to struggle a bit if you left the curtains open. Whatever was going on with the system, I think they need to figure out why the air it puts out is humid even when you keep doors closed all the time. Also, while we were there, the elevators were acting up sporadically. They didn't trap us or anything but the buttons would stick, etc. Also, NO MORE PUSSERS RESTAURANT. Boo hoo. Loved that place. Yes, it was a bit in need of repairs and updates, but the food was great and the atmosphere fun and upbeat. I guess what they were installing in its place is going to be a nicer, more modern thing, but I don't know about that. The staff at the hotel was extremely nice and very accommodating. The parking is limited but valet is attentive and efficient. Nice gym but too hot inside.

“Extremely loud portable AC; non-responsive management”

I wish that I had taken a look at the other reviews here on TripAdvisor for the Annapolis Waterfront before checking in, particularly the reviews by Ed E and drieldc regarding the loud temporary A/C units. After having the same problem I raised this issue with the General Manager at the email address provided by the front desk personnel, but after a week I never received a reply. After receiving no reply to my email, twice I asked for a reply from the hotel's comments page, but again no reply. Below please see the email that I sent to the GM: Taylor, I attempted to speak with you in person this morning when checking out of the Annapolis Waterfront, but was told that you were unavailable. Hopefully this email reaches your attention at the address that I was provided.Unfortunately I am compelled to bring to you my dissatisfaction with my stay at your hotel Sunday night. Upon arriving at the hotel, I was advised that valet parking was unavailable and that I would need to self-park two or three blocks away. This was annoying, but I understand that these things happen, so no big deal. After hiking back to the hotel from the Mills Hilman Garage, I proceeded to check-in. As a Bonvoy Lifetime Platinum Elite member, I requested an upgrade. I was immediately advised that nothing was available. I found this a tad curious since I had checked the Marriott website shortly before checking-in and there were a plethora of better rooms available. Again annoying, but not a deal-breaker. Upon arriving in my assigned room (room 505) I was surprised to see some piece of equipment connected by a duct vent to the window. Upon closer inspection this turned out to be a portable air conditioner. I thought this was strange, but my wife and I unpacked and quickly left the room to explore Annapolis and go to dinner. We returned to our room rather late and went right to bed. Within minutes the air conditioner “kicked on” with a loud, insufferable rattling noise. The A/C would run for a few minutes, then turn off, then kick on loud again repeatedly throughout the night. My wife and I conferred about seeking another room, but since it was late and we were already unpacked and in bed, we decided not to. That was clearly a mistake. We both were awake throughout the night due to the loud, banging noise. In fact, as you can see from the attached screenshot, at 3:49 AM I used a cell phone app to document that the A/C was generating 60 decibels (see attached). A quick Google search will reveal that 60 decibels is equivalent to normal conversation or a dishwasher - certainly not sleeping conditions in an upscale hotel. In conclusion, as a perfunctory review of my Bonvoy account will reveal, for decades I have stayed at Marriott family properties around the world and I do not believe that I received the value of the 57,000 points that I used for this stay at the Annapolis Waterfront and believe that a significant return of points is warranted. Thank you for your attention to this matter and I look forward to hearing from you.
