And its location throws you in the deep end too – right on Main Street in one of the state’s most historic and most charming villages, it’s got all those famous Taconic and Green Mountain moments in virtual touching distance, from leaf peeping, to skiing, to summer festivals. Creating a more homely hideaway than most hotels, they’ve included full American breakfasts, morning tea and coffee in the Living Room, and a social hour every evening. First the positives.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean.
The staff were very patchy. Some were very helpful, others very unhelpful.
I was surprised to find no shuttle available at all one evening when the hotel was quiet and when this is included in the resort fee.
Another Wonderful Stay at the Kimpton Taconic – Perfect for a Family Ski Trip!

I had another lovely stay at the Kimpton Taconic Hotel in Manchester, VT. This was my second time staying with my family of four, plus a group of friends. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the pillows are soft — just the way I like them. The hotel’s location is excellent, with a short drive to both Stratton Mountain Resort and Bromley…

The on-site restaurant, The Copper Grouse, is a solid option for food, and the town of Manchester is so quaint, with charming shops, a supermarket, and plenty of great restaurants — all within walking distance from the hotel. We’ll definitely be back for our next skiing trip!

My husband and I and our small dog recently stayed here for three nights for the first time. It is a laid back hotel, and very welcoming. The rooms are compact, but beautifully appointed. The bathrooms have spacious walk in showers. We enjoyed the social hour each night sitting in front of the roaring wood fire, and chatting with other guests. The Copper Grouse restaurant off the lobby was an excellent and delicious place to eat, with a great staff. Manchester is a lovely historic and scenic town and is filled with other highly rated places to dine as well. All in all, it was a great trip, and we will definitely be back!

Our Home Away From Home

Always enjoyable whenever we stay at this hotel. It feels like it is our home away from home. The staff is always welcoming, especially at the front desk. Would recommend a guest room with a fireplace. Housekeeping was somewhat lacking though. One day the trash was not changed and another day the tissue box was not replaced.

Note, this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to review a hotel. I have been fortunate to have travelled extensively for thirty years for both business and pleasure staying at many exceptional properties, and I have to say the Kimpton Taconic is my family's favorite hotel.

Note, this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to review a hotel. I have been fortunate to have travelled extensively for thirty years for both business and pleasure staying at many exceptional properties, and I have to say the Kimpton Taconic is my family's favorite hotel.
The hotel has become a bit of an oasis and mini-vacation when we go to VT. The boutique size is perfect, accessible, cozy and never feels crowded. I cannot think of a more relaxing setting than the firepit and wraparound porch and rockers in the spring and summertime and the cozy library and den with continuously running real wood fireplace in the fall and winter. The excellent restaurant Copper Grouse, game room and complimentary cocktail hour make it that much more enjoyable.
Most importantly though, the service and staff drive the truly exceptional vibe and experience of the hotel. There is a warmth and authenticity in the friendly service that is unlike any other places we have stayed.
I hesitate writing this because I don't want this hidden gem to get out there, but I feel that this exceptional hotel and staff need to be recognized.
