My daughter and I have really enjoyed our 8 night stay at the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge. The room was very clean and more spacious than I expected for NYC, and we slept well every night. Hallway traffic was minimal, neighbor noise was acceptable, and the beds were comfortable — overall it felt restful, which is a big deal after long days exploring.
Location & transit: This hotel is a great “basecamp” if you want a break from Manhattan’s constant bustle but still want easy access to everything. Multiple subway lines are only a short walk away, and we were consistently able to reach places like the World Trade Center, SoHo, the East Village, Rockefeller Center, and Central Park without it feeling like a slog. The block around the hotel is well lit and calm, and it’s an easy walk to DUMBO, the Brooklyn/Manhattan Bridges, the River Café, and the NY Transit Museum.
Views: Views vary a lot by room. We lucked out with a view of the Empire State Building, but a room one door over could be looking at a school. The restaurant/bar views are more “civic Brooklyn” (NY State Supreme Court building) than skyline — just set expectations.
Staff: Everyone we interacted with was kind and helpful. Lydia was absolutely wonderful, and Dom in the M Club also stood out.
M Club lounge: Great perk if you’re eligible and it fits your schedule. It’s free for Platinum Elite and above, and otherwise it’s $30 for breakfast or $50/day for you + one. Food and nonalcoholic drinks are included; alcohol is charged per glass (you pour your own, so pour size matters). One important note: the M Club is closed Friday afternoon through Sunday until 5:30 pm, so it’s very weekday/business-traveler oriented.
Gym (excellent) & other amenities: Some older reviews mention a pool — the pool has been removed. The gym, however, is extensive for a hotel: squat racks, barbells (up to 110 lbs), dumbbells (to 50 lbs), Peloton bikes, treadmills, machines, physio balls, and lots of bands. A fun detail: there’s a beehive just outside the gym that produces honey used in some restaurant ingredients.
Fees & costs to know:
• Destination fee: $30/day (at the time of writing), due at check-in. It can be used at the café in the morning and bar in the evening, but it expires daily at noon and can’t be banked. Also, it can’t be paid with points — credit card only.
• Café pricing is on the pricey side for breakfast (example: $2 banana, ~$5 soda, ~$5 prepackaged oatmeal, typical coffee chain prices). Dinner felt more reasonable (e.g., burgers around $18; beer ~$9–10).
• Parking: $60/day.
• No on-site guest laundry room. There’s a laundry service (seemed expensive to me) and a laundromat a short walk away.
Bottom line: I’m not the pickiest traveler, but I care about service, convenience, comfort, cleanliness, and accessibility, and this hotel delivered. If you’re okay trading “guaranteed skyline views” for a calmer home base with great transit access, it’s a solid choice.
