I've stayed at quite a few hotels in NYC and I have to say the rooms are fairly spacious and clean, however, a bit dated and there's no freezer (only a refrigerator ). I was unpleasantly surprised by the "breakfast"; it's basically a small selection of pastry and some cereals, not even eggs, bacon or anything like that. The only reason I went for it is because it was included for free, however, normally they charge almost $20 - I would definitely not pay for this type of "breakfast", despite the fact they call it "continental". However, it is possible to order "proper" breakfast for around $20 but I haven't been brave enough to try. On top of that, even when you're provided free breakfast, you have to sign a check (with $20 per person) that, based on what I was told, "is just for the record and will be checked against what's in the system". Weird but could be legit - I've never seen it at any other hotels. What surprised me, however, was that they actually asked for a tip; no idea what for, considering the only service you get is the waiter pouring you a cup of tea or coffee. Not that I'd want any type of service with my breakfast, anyway, it's just the non-sensical gesture. Other than that, the stay was good and considering I was able to find a good deal, I'd go for it again. Read less

Very disappointed. For the price expected something much nicer. No vent fan in the bathroom, no TV options, no continental breakfast. Small room with poor lighting. Cleanliness was ok but not outstanding. It was quiet. Comparable to a Motel 6 type accommodation.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to Michael, the overnight manager, for his outstanding help during a stressful situation. Due to an online booking error, the hotel was overbooked, and I was left without a room. Michael, however, stepped in and made all the difference. He promised to do his best to find a solution and, true to his word, he managed to secure a room for me. As this was my third attempt to find accommodation, Michael's assistance truly saved my night and made my stay in New York much more enjoyable. Overall, the staff's commitment and kindness are truly appreciated. 💚 Read less

This is, hands down, my worst hotel experience in thirty years. The mattresses were soft to the point of broken, the sheets were threadbare, the blanket was the thinnest polyester quilt, the toilet seat had been scrubbed so much it had flaked and chipped, and the bathroom fan did not work, meaning a shower turned the whole room into a sauna. The… Read more

The mattresses were soft to the point of broken, the sheets were threadbare, the blanket was the thinnest polyester quilt, the toilet seat had been scrubbed so much it had flaked and chipped, and the bathroom fan did not work, meaning a shower turned the whole room into a sauna. The doors were scratched and chipped from where the handles scrape against each other. The bathroom ceiling was patched and poorly repainted. The thin walls meant that we could hear every word of the angry man staying next door as he shouted on the phone at 3AM. When we saw other visitors in the elevator, they shared our distant looks of discomfort -- staying here meant we were all trapped in our own private New York slumlord hell, just waiting to get out. This is my second stay, and it continues to be one of my favorite hotels in downtown NY. The rooms are fairly basic, but are clean, comfortable with ample space for two people. My upper floor room was very quiet, good for NYC!. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I like this neighborhood, as it's a quieter side street with ample restaurants and bodegas for food. Subways are very convenient, the #1 is half a block away and the N and R is 1.5 blocks. Read less
