Conrad New York Downtown

Financial District, New York

Star rating

The hotel

Conrad New York Downtown is a statement hotel in a stunning location, overlooking the Hudson River from its spot in Lower Manhattan’s Battery Park City. As you step into its sky-scraping 15 storey lobby, it’s ready to wow: there’s the instant impact of its bold design; the multi-storey art installation by Sol LeWitt; the 24 hour fitness hub; and the sophisticated dining of ATRIO. But it does save some pleasures for higher floors. As you scale this all-suite hotel’s grand stairways, you reach more than 2,000 works of gallery worthy art; luxurious 2 room suites for all guests; and, the cherry on the top, a seasonal rooftop deck where small plates, ‘Prosecco & Ice Pop’ cocktails, and Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor views all vie for top billing.

This review is about the front desk team and the rooms. Phenomenal front desk team at the Conrad NY Downtown! Sincerely grateful to Elliott and Dominique for their help and graciousness. Elliott is outstanding, A+! He went above and beyond without batting an eyelash to accommodate my request to switch rooms. He's courteous and gentlemanly, in a polished manner he made sure that my request will be catered to and because of his gesture it made our stay extra wonderful, and I am forever thankful for his help! What an exceptional service from Elliott, Dominique, Darwin, the porter manager, housekeeping, tech team who helped with the TV issue, room coffee bar (he helped me set up the Nespresso and supplied us with additional coffee and cream). Now I have to mention the rooms, we stayed in a King room and another room with two double beds. We are pleased with the cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms. It's not common in New York to have a separate living room and bed room, this Conrad has all rooms configured that way. Conrad NY will be my go to hotel when visiting New York due to their staff, the rooms, and of course worth mentioning is the included complimentary water filtration and coffee/tea selections. Note: the filtered drinking water system is available to you 24/7 in your room, in a "bar" section with its bar sink too! We had an extraordinary stay at The Conrad. Thank you for your kindness and excellent service! Last, the location can't be beat, it's in the Financial District, walkable to Wall Street, 9/11 Memorial, One World Trade Center, many restaurants, train stations, and other sights. Read less

The Brookfield Place Terminal is also across the street from the hotel. You can walk to the World Trade Center, or stroll around Rockefeller Park, Teardrop Park, North Cove Yacht Harbor and Pumphouse Park. The location is very convenient and relax for visiting to New York City. We are Hilton HHonor diamond member, and our stay had been upgraded to a double bed suite. The room is spacious and beautiful by Manhattan standard. It has a nice sized living room with a sofa bed and a sofa chair, two double beds, a bathroom and a separate shower room. There is in-room filtered water station, which is unique in the setup. The atrium of the hotel is beautiful. There is a small exercise room (quite busy with a number of exercising guests), a small business room (unfortunately without a functioning printer). As Hilton HHonor diamond member, we have received USD 50 food credit to be used at the hotel restaurant. There is only one restaurant (ATRIO) at the hotel. It offers a small but quality menu. We notice that you can order food from delivery service (e.g., Uber Eat), and the food will be placed at a table near the entrance of the hotel. Read less

The quality of this hotel is very good and it’s in a great location, very close to the World Trade Center memorial. The bed was extremely comfortable. Only one thing spoiled our stay. Hilton in the USA no longer provide buffet breakfasts, apparently since Covid. You get a daily allowance towards breakfast. This barely covers coffee and juice. But the biggest issue is that it’s wholly inappropriate for vegans. There was nothing on the menu apart from Bircher muesli. There was a buffet available for 2 days due to Independence Day, but we took a look at the offerings, and what we could have eaten did not justify the $48 we would have been charged (the daily allowance we were given was $25). We ended up eating a bagel with peanut butter and banana each morning, but in truth, we had no idea if the bagel was vegan. We always choose Hilton in the UK because we know we can have a good breakfast from the buffet. I think it’s a good idea to have guests only order from a menu because it reduces food waste, but if you’re going to do this you need to provide a vegan menu with a decent range. Guests should not have to ‘make do’ like this when they pay the same rate for the room as everyone else, a premium rate in the case of the Conrad. This offering is not acceptable for those on a plant based diet or for those with dairy or egg allergies. The Hilton in the USA needs to do much better on this front, Hilton UK is leaving you behind.
