Conrad New York Downtown

Financial District, New York

Star rating

The hotel

Conrad New York Downtown is a statement hotel in a stunning location, overlooking the Hudson River from its spot in Lower Manhattan’s Battery Park City. As you step into its sky-scraping 15 storey lobby, it’s ready to wow: there’s the instant impact of its bold design; the multi-storey art installation by Sol LeWitt; the 24 hour fitness hub; and the sophisticated dining of ATRIO. But it does save some pleasures for higher floors. As you scale this all-suite hotel’s grand stairways, you reach more than 2,000 works of gallery worthy art; luxurious 2 room suites for all guests; and, the cherry on the top, a seasonal rooftop deck where small plates, ‘Prosecco & Ice Pop’ cocktails, and Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor views all vie for top billing.

Having stayed at the Conrad New York Downtown on multiple occasions, I’ve found it to be a consistent and comfortable option for business trips. Rooms and Comfort The all-suite rooms are spacious by New York standards, with a separate living area that’s ideal for working or relaxing. Beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are well-appointed. The showers in particular offer excellent water pressure—something I’ve come to appreciate after a long day of meetings. The standout here is the housekeeping staff—always warm, thorough, and consistently excellent. Fitness Center The fitness center is very small, limited to just a few treadmills and stationary bikes, including a Peloton. It covers the basics but isn’t suitable for a more comprehensive workout. For a hotel at this level, the gym is underwhelming. Lobby and Elevators The lobby is modern and expansive but lacks warmth or character. The elevator experience also leaves something to be desired—wait times during peak hours can be frustrating and feel inefficient for a business-oriented property. Dining I did not dine at the hotel’s restaurant and would recommend venturing out instead. Even within a short walking distance, you can find a far better dining experience. Given the hotel’s location in Lower Manhattan, there are excellent options nearby for every cuisine and budget. Beach and Family Amenities There is no pool and the hotel does not offer many family-friendly features. It’s clearly designed with business travelers in mind, not vacationing families. Location Located in Battery Park City, the hotel provides a quieter and more polished environment compared to Midtown. It’s ideal for those with business in the Financial District, Tribeca, or Lower Manhattan. However, it is a bit removed from typical tourist attractions. Final Thoughts The Conrad New York Downtown is a solid business hotel—comfortable rooms, exceptional housekeeping, and a quiet location. While not ideal for families or leisure tourists, it’s a reliable choice for work travel. Just plan to eat elsewhere and don’t expect extensive on-site amenities. Read less

This review has been long overdue, but it’s one I’m truly excited to write. When it comes to hospitality, this hotel has set the bar incredibly high—and my family and I consider it our home away from home every time we’re in NYC. With over 200 hotels in Manhattan alone, we’ve experienced a wide range of accommodations over the years—at least a quarter of them. Yet, none have matched the consistent excellence in service we’ve found here. From the moment you’re welcomed at the door to the warm, efficient check-in with the concierge team, every detail is handled with care and professionalism. One person who truly stands out is Richard from the concierge team. If you’re lucky enough to be assisted by him, you’ll immediately understand why this hotel feels so special. Richard is not only knowledgeable and attentive—he genuinely cares. He goes above and beyond in ways that leave a lasting impression, making every guest feel seen, valued, and celebrated. We can honestly say that his warmth and extraordinary service have played a big part in why we continue to choose this hotel. He’s remembered every special occasion we’ve shared here, always greeting us with joy and familiarity. The fact that he even knows all our names, including our son’s, speaks volumes about the genuine care he offers. Over the past two to three years, every stay has been consistently remarkable thanks to Richard and the entire team. This review is both a heartfelt thank-you and a standing ovation for years of hospitality that go far beyond expectations. Thank you, Richard, and thank you to everyone who’s made our stays unforgettable. We’ll be back very soon. Read less

A very good option for business travelers in the financial district. I’ve stayed here several times over the years. The suites are spacious, beds are comfortable, showers are excellent and amenities are high quality. Appreciate the in-room Nespresso machine as well. Front desk staff are professional and corporate, reflective of the neighborhood. The breakfast staff are more warm and welcoming, and the quality of the breakfast is good. The gym is quite good too. The only thing to note is that the neighborhood does get quieter at night, given all the offices in the area. That being said, there is a subway station you can walk to about 10 minutes away. Wouldn’t be my first choice for leisure travel, but very good for business. Can get very expensive on weekdays. Read less

Pros: - Quiet Battery Park location - Spacious, well-appointed suites - Very clean throughout Cons: - Limited, low quality food options - Unmotivated, disengaged staff - Rude senior citizen rooftop host This isn’t a 5-star hotel, but it’s solid—just make sure you’re not overpaying.
