I had a very nice stay here and can recommend it. I'll stay again but it was not a perfect stay. First, the good: 1) I was kindly upgraded to a loft suite as a globalist. I loved the suite, the feel and size. I was having a rough day so the upgrade was greatly appreciated. It's not a proper suite as there isn't a wall between the living area and the bedroom but the room is huge. I loved it and hope I'll stay in it again 2) gym was well stocked with 50 kg dumbbells. They also had free bottled water and protein bars in the gym. This was awesome as I love a protein bar after a workout 3) the breakfast for globalists was surprisingly good. I loved the avocado toast. I did order sides both mornings. One morning the side was charged, one it was taken off (globalists get free breakfasts but not free sides though most properties will waive a side). Front desk eventually did. 4) front desk overall was awesome. Usually front desks are cold in my experience. These folks were friendly and always offering bottled water. That's great. Too many hotels are stingy with water so it's great they offered to many people 5) location is awesome near Bryant Park. I loved the ease to walk to Central Park as well as Korea Town. Good location Overall, I'd definitely stay here again. However, there were some weaknesess 1) the mini bar was not refilled on day 2. I even called to ask if it comes and they said it does. This was disappointing as I had drunk all the sparkling water and wanted snacks. This was not good as mini bar is part of the amenities 2) oddly, I had late check out on last day as a globalists , and the guy came in to refill the mini bar at 350, right when I was exiting. But worse the guy just walked in the room and didn't knock. This is actually upsetting. I did not tell anyone at the hotel as I was so thankful for them upgrading me to a suite but the mini bar guy should've knocked and waited 2 seconds. I was naked in the bed about to get dressed. Not happy about this at all. In other words, this was a great hotel and lll definitely come back but the mini bar team was terrible - walking in on me and not restocking properly despite me calling to ask. I loved my stay, probably because of the room upgrade. If I had not had that and dealt with the mini bar issues, my review might not be as good. But because I had such a nice upgrade, I'll definitely come back and use a TSU next time (I used free night certificates this time so couldn't use a TSU, one of the oddities of the Hyatt program) Read less

While the situation was resolved in 20 minutes, it added unecessary stress and anxiety after a full day of travel and spoiled our entire stay given the way it was handled they the obviously sick front desk staff (caughing with larangitis). No accomodation was given or even offered for the inconvenience. At $750/night, this was unacceptable. That, and the persitent piles of garbage in the hallway outside the elevator on the 9th floor belighed the cost of the accomodation. The in-room dining was very much sub-par given the price. I dropped nearly $2k in this hotel over a 2-night stay and feel like my money was stolen. If nothing else, our stay a the Andaz did nothing to make a birthday weekend in NYC seem special. Read less

The location of this hotel can't be beaten. Bryant Park, Whole Foods, NY Library, the Summit, 5th Avenue shopping, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, all within walking distance. Wow. Given that, I will go with category 7 designation within in Hyatt system. Customer service, however, was very average at best. None higher than any other Hyatt Regency I've been to. They are professional but not all that friendly. They do their jobs well but not one person had smiles or turned their postures to speak to me when I approached. Their hands and bodies were still glued to the computer while helping me. Breakfast offering was good, but both times I visited, two different servers forgot to bring out one of our orders each morning. Not much checking in either. Like a lot of people mentioned here, I do see some wear and tear of the property but the room was clean. If you are staying on points, since you didn't pay for the destination fee, you don't get the benefits at this hotel. That's unlike any other Hyatt I've visited. Even the staff, while acknowledging this, told me that if I watch a movie and pay for it in the room, he will waive it for me one time. But maybe not other benefits? Very confusing. I was upgraded to a corner 1 bedroom, and according to one of the staff, it was an upgrade. I did see some suite availabilities but wasn't about to argue with not-so customer service-oriented staff when I checked in. Overall, I'm glad I experienced one of only a handful Category 7 Hyatt hotels in the US. But for this particular hotel, not so sure if I would come back. Read less

Favorite hotel in NYC - and there's no shortage of outstanding establishments. I've written a number of reviews, and everything I've written remains consistent with each stay. The Andaz 5th Ave has transcended hotel status and has become our NYC home. We know the staff by name as they do us. We walk in and are greeted with hugs and a big WELCOME BACK followed by follow-up questions about what had been going on in our lives since our last visit; all of this happens before the staff even check us in, so this is all by memory - and we only stay 2x, maybe 3x yearly! We visit primarily to see my 95-year-old grandmother, and they ask about her by name! The same experience occurs downstairs each morning when we have breakfast. Justyn and Heather are good to get us going with breakfast, but always remember elements from our last stay and check-in with us about them. This stay was a short visit from July 19 -24 in an Andaz Suite. In general, all room types in the Andaz 5th Ave are generous in size and will comfortably accommodate long stays in my opinion. Housekeeping is absolutely outstanding. They make an effort to learn what time you leave your room each day to have it cleaned very early (or late, should you wish). Also, hotel housekeeping staff are generally standoffish, but we really enjoyed it when we came across our housekeeper and had nice conversations. As mentioned in many reviews, the hotel's location really can't be beat! You're right across from Bryant Park and the library. A few blocks over, you have Grand Central. Walk west and you're at Time's Square and Broadway. In any direction, and within just a few blocks, you have access to subway lines that will take you almost anywhere in the City. Yes, you have your Four Seasons, Peninsula's, MO's, Aman's, Rosewood's and even the Park Hyatt, NYC. Based on our experience with those hotel brands and other 5* establishments, our experience here is priceless. I'm very proud that I can write a review such as this after each stay - without exaggeration. We hope your stay here is a special as ours always is. Read less
