Highly recommend if you are looking for a CLEAN, NEW, BEAUTIFUL hotel in NYC that actually looks and feels like a 5 Star hotel. The staff is truly incredible (so kind, well trained, & professional). We stayed in the Wellness Suite and LOVED it — big windows all over the suite, windows open for fresh air, nespresso machine, steam shower, tub with a view, bright room (with auto blinds you can easily adjust if needed), comfy bed, 1 min walk to NYPL..etc etc. Just book your stay...you won't regret it! It is a half a block to the subway, easy walking distance to Time Square and in a beautifully quiet area of NYC. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. Breakfast is served until noon which is great if you have had late night events. The only downside of the hotel is that it does not serve lunch or room service after 10 pm. Sometimes we like to have a lazy hotel day and that doesn't really work here. Also we had a couple of nights when we got in from seeing Broadway shows that we would have liked to get a nightcap and a bite to eat but the bar and restaurant were closed. There is nothing else around to go to so we pretty much had to hit the mini bar which is not what we really wanted . The bar/restaurant is open to 11 on Week ends. Read less

Attentive and proactive service, well-appointed, comfortable rooms, and really excellent World of Hyatt Globalist perks. The Bar Downstairs is a hidden gem--I frequent this restaurant regardless of whether I stay at the property. Breakfast there is also wonderful. It's a shame they removed the lobby restaurant, which I also used to frequent, but I would highly recommend this property for a comfortable stay in NYC! Read less

The air-conditioner barely worked. They refused to try to fix the first time we called the front desk and the second made time sent a technician who promised the issue was fixed and that the temperature would continue to drop. Waited all night and the temperature never hit the set point. Totally not worth the price.

I’ve stayed at the Andaz 5th Avenue countless times over the past 14 years and I think this will be the LAST time. I’ve stayed at the Andaz 5th Avenue countless times over the past 14 years and I think this will be the LAST time. It’s time to go to a hotel that offers better value and at least bothers to recognize its Lifetime Globalists. I booked a Loft Suite (no upgrade given). The shower was ridiculously slow and took me twice as long to shower. The room didn’t smell clean and had an overwhelming smell of cheap cologne and the furnishings are completely run down. The mattress was soft and had zero support and although I asked for foam pillows, what I was given were NOT foam pillows. WiFi was patchy throughout the stay. Worse was the service in the Bar Downstairs. I’m not a breakfast person and didn’t bother with breakfast throughout the stay until the last morning of my stay and service as rude and perfunctory. Worse was when I was rudely told by the brusque waitress that as a globalist I was “ONLY allowed one entree and one beverage”. It wasn’t the message but the delivery that irked me particularly. I’ve been here over the past so many years and each year the benefits become worse and worse especially the breakfast. But it’s the poor service that was shocking. She sent me milk that was COLD for my tea and when I asked her to heat it up, she was put out by that and it seems that she didn’t like the way I looked at her when I asked for the milk to be heated and confronted me by asking “are YOU ok?!” instead of asking “is everything ok?” I had said nothing other than to ask for the milk to be warmed up but apparently I need to be sensitive to her feelings with my facial expressions and how I look when I’m having breakfast. I’m used to the brusque NY service but she was rude and made the entire breakfast hurried and rushed when the place wasn’t even that busy as it was already 10.30am. Read less
