Very nice stay, I was met at the curb by staff to assist with luggage and provided a bottle of water. Check in was quick and availability of Uber was within a minute most of the time. Room was beautiful and staff was responsive when needed.

The Andaz is in a perfect place to visit NYC with fantastic oversized rooms and suites. For primary school aged kids and above it is perfect. Free in-room movies and snacks make it just that much better. They have true two bedroom suites that were perfect for our family overlooking the library and Empire State Building.

Terrible sewage smell in lobby. This is the 2nd time I’ve stayed here in 4 months and had the same smell both times. The check in experience was odd with a round desk in front of the elevators that ‘maybe’ had someone there to check you in. Terrible sewage smell in lobby. This is the 2nd time I’ve stayed here in 4 months and had the same smell both times. The check in experience was odd with a round desk in front of the elevators that ‘maybe’ had someone there to check you in. There was no greeting upon entering the hotel so really you didn’t know where to go. Once we got to the room, it was fine. No sewage smell. Quiet because we faced another building and not the street. Being an Globalist, I was disappointed that I wasn’t given a better room but oh well. Everything was clean and the room was good size for NYC. Bathroom was extra large for NYC standards. Carpet in room was a disappointment and had seen better days. Stains in several places - not sure why hotels still keep carpet. I did love the electric blinds and good towels in the bathroom. Shower was pretty great, large, and had fabulous amenities. Bed was comfortable but super low to the ground which was awkward. Breakfast was good with a lot of options. I did notice in our hallway that there were pizza boxes and room service trays left for days without being picked up. That’s not a high end experience and felt bizarre walking past it for 2 days. Overall I might stay here again but I would certainly look at other properties first. It wouldn’t be my first choice. Read less

I've stayed here many times. It used to be that the best part was the physical property. Now, with some material wear and tear showing, the best part is the people. The good: * Perfect location for virtually anything in Manhattan. * The people are extremely customer service oriented, seem happy, and were genuinely kind/caring. * The downstairs bar is a great place to pass time in the evening (subject to the below). * *Great* having a hidden kitchen area in this suite; well done on the design front :) The bad: * The light sensors and AC were a mess in our suite (1413). It was constantly shutting off lights and turning them on (thinking we had left or just arrived). * The layout of this suite is really... odd. No privacy for anyone using the bathroom, only one sink, virtually no storage in the bathroom for personal effects, and the furniture is really austere/unwelcoming in the common area. The very bad: * Though it's unlikely the hotel's fault, the ground floor and basement areas smelled like sewage to such an extent that we curtailed our drinks and head out early. * The bed in 1413 is so **insanely soft** that it was almost like sleeping on an air mattress that was only 20% inflated. Memo to mgmt: you need to put a high quality, new mattress in this suite *pronto*. I travel 6 months a year around the world; it's the worst bed I've experienced in... years. Not a close call. * There are bathrooms on the 2nd floor and basement for guests; they were so dirty and understocked (no toilet paper and hand towels) the day of our departure that it seemed they hadn't been looked after for days. Not a good look. This property used to have a bit more savoir faire -- full stop. I hope they recover all their prior mojo. Read less

If you are looking for a getaway in NYC and you want to stay in the heart of Midtown, I would suggest checking out this hotel by Hyatt. Everyone on staff was noteworthy of a standing ovation. They all paid attention to the small details to make the experience seamless. The rooms are chic and have a Feng shui about them that makes this hotel very appealing to stay solo, as a couple, or a family. The room was amazing, the shower was impeccable. The thing that I loved the most about this location is LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. A few blocks away is Grand Central, then you have NY Public Library one block away, and Times Square is a quick 15 min walk. Great access to subways and most of my business happens in midtown. Will stay again. Read less
