The hotel itself is modest, and some hallway carpeting is in need of replacement. That said, I repeatedly return to this property on 36th, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, for a number of reasons. My rooms have consistently been clean. The location is ideal for train travel to/from any of the three New York area airports, as you can readily walk to Penn Station. You're also within walking distance of Bryant Park and a multitude of shopping and dining options, as well as subway stations.
It's the management and staff, though, who really make a difference. Ronald leads a great team, including Stefan, Jade and others. I've stayed at this property a number of times in no small part because of the people, who welcome me by name and are consistently gracious and helpful.
I stayed at this property twice in the last five weeks, once while NYC was in a state of emergency as a result of February's major snowfall. I was among many NYC visitors who unexpectedly needed an additional night's stay as a result of flight cancellations, and the team at this Holiday Inn took great care of me.
