Lotte New York Palace

Midtown, New York

Star rating

The hotel

Railroad magnate Henry Villard's 19th-century mansions were combined with a sleek tower to create one of the city's best hotels. It's a place where the staff greet you as if they have known you all their lives, and nothing is too much trouble. The location is one of the best in Manhattan, right in the middle of Midtown, but hidden away in a gated courtyard. There's dining options suited to all at the Lotte New York Palace, from luxury brunch to baked goods, whatever you opt for you'll be in for a treat. Enjoy handmade cocktails in one of Manhattan's most popular bars, Trouble's Trust, or relax in 19th century-style surroundings in Rarities - either make for the perfect post-day-in-the-city tipples.

We had a great stay at the Lotte Palace Hotel, which has a very convenient location in midtown, close to Grand Central, Central Park and Times Square. Our room had a fantastic view overlooking the cathedral - it was breathtaking every morning when we opened the blinds. The room was large and beds were comfortable. The hotel itself was very pretty and we had a wonderful breakfast in the Gold Room during our stay. The staff we encountered were all kind and welcoming. In particular our housekeeper Utra was very friendly and looked after us well. A couple of minor complaints would be that during the week when there were conferences on it was a long wait to get a lift to our room on the 26th floor, sometimes up to 10 mins. We also asked for a kettle in our room and were surprised to be charged $32 for this, which we only realised at check out - I would expect a hotel of this standard to provide this as a basic amenity. It would have been a 5 star review, however we lost a personal item whilst staying here and only realised when we returned home. We tried to contact the hotel on 4 different email addresses to ask if it had been handed in by housekeeping but we got no response or acknowledgement, which was disappointing. Read less

We had an amazing stay here. We came in for a wedding, and we stayed here with MANY other groups from the same wedding. We ate breakfast at the hotel nearly every day, ordered room service (which, to be honest, was a little pricy, even for the Towers), and even invited some immediate family and friends to our room for breakfast the morning after the wedding. The room was enormous, luxurious, and everything we had hoped for. The location was great for exploring, traveling around the city, and sightseeing. When we departed, we were running late to catch our train, the doorman named Gary Miller and two Bellmen named John Amon and George Matos helped us with our bags and helped us get them loaded into our car. I completely spaced and failed to tip any of them because I realized I had no cash on me at all. They were really great and had always been exceptionally pleasant when we were coming and going, even when it was super cold out. I am very appreciative, but regret that I did not tip them for all of the help they provided. I called the concierge to see if there was a Venmo or something that I could provide a tip that way, unfortunately, they did not have anything like that set up. I hope that before my next stay, Lotte is able to figure out a way to a Cashless way to tip, or that the doorman and bellman are not working for tips any longer. Read less

We traveled to NYC for a family vacation and booked a 6 night stay with two connecting rooms for our family. The Lotte Palace is in an absolutely fantastic location in Manhattan. Very convenient location for exploring the city with nearby subway entrances and lots of good food options. The other great thing about this hotel was the size of the rooms. For our large family, we had plenty of room (we booked two rooms that were connected) and never felt cramped. Many hotels in NYC are lacking on the square footage, but the Lotte Palace offers spacious rooms. Finally, we had a very pleasant experience with all of the hotel staff. Everyone was friendly and went out of the way to ensure we had everything we needed. We had a minor issue when we checked out with some confusion over some room charges we had on our folio, but Francesca, the director of reservations, handled it and ensured we were taken care of. Thank you to her. Overall, we had a fantastic trip to NYC and very much enjoyed staying at this wonderful hotel. Read less
