Image of the Tripadvisor rating Excellent Birthday Weekend Hotel Stay

Aug 31, 2025 Madeleine D

We had a great stay at the New York Marriott Maquis Hotel. We received excellent customer service. We came to celebrate my birthday and catch a few shows. This is my favorite hotel to stay in New York. I have been many times in the past.

The room felt much larger having an interesting view. Our room was very quiet, the beds comfortable, and the air conditioner worked well even though the days were VERY hot. The annoyances were minor: no water at the M Club...had to go to the front desk and beg for water; you have to walk by other people's garbage in the hallway as it is not picked up until midday; they re-set the TV every day and you have to sign into Netflix all over every day; you can't plug your own device into the HTML; they don't have PBS on the TV channels. I am a Lifetime Platinum Elite member for Marriott Rewards and a loyal Marriott user. I recently stayed at Marriott Marquis Broadway New York for six days. I was fully disappointed because one of my benefits as a Lifetime Platinum Elite member is the ability to be able to stay longer during checkout up to 4 pm. We stayed from a Friday until Thursday of the next week and when I asked for a late checkout, I was declined even up to 2 pm. I know for a fact that Thursday is a slow day and I have never been NOT given a late checkout when I asked for such as a Platinum Elite. I asked this from the time we checked in on Friday, August 15 and was promised that I will be given such but when I verified again on Wednesday night, day before our checkout, I was told in a message that I have to checkout by 11 a.m. We are truly disappointed because I was told that it was ok by the person who checked us in then no in a message the night before our checkout day. I will never stay at this Marriott again when I visit NYC. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Very aggressive staff

Aug 21, 2025 Kate H Newington, CT

I’ve never been treated so poorly at a Marriott property. Staff at check in were rude and suspicious- stating that they didn’t believe I was a state employee when I had ID. Then, they acted like the M lounge holding the presidents- aggressively asking you for your key and scolding you if you try to bring in your 10 year old. I’m all set- will not… Read more

We had access to the M lounge , this is a great area where we had breakfast ( the offering was endless ) in a very cool relaxed area , whether on business or just spending quality time with the family type M lounge certainly catered for all , The hotels location speaks for itself , walk out the door and your in Time Square and easy access to subway . The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and are obviously very customer focused. We can’t wait to stay again , keep doing what ye are doing , it’s working !!! Read less
