Ask for a room on a mjuch higher level.T he elevator system is terrible and you sometimes had to wait ages to get on one to go either up , or down. Because of the size of the hotel - over 1900 rooms, it gets very busy both in the elevator area and for the main reception area with long lines and not always the most pleasant of staff. We asked for a 'late' check out - they give you an extra hour and if you want to stay any long they want another $125, or something like that. The room we ended up having was on the 42nd floor and was a wonderful size and had a walk in shower which I needed as I'd hurt my leg. We had a great view. The room has a coffee machine, but we had no idea that all the coffee, cream, sugar etc was behind the coffee maker until we found it a few days later. The a/c was very effective. The location of the hotel is right on Times Square and very busy and noisy, but great for getting on buses / the subway. There are multiple eateries and coffee places etc within walking distance. I want to start this review by telling you that the day we were to go to New York, a trip that we had planned for months, we woke up to find out that our flight was canceled. After a stressful morning of trying to find new flights, we finally got on 2 that would get us there around 10:00 pm instead of the 3:30 pm we had anticipated. This meant that we only had one day to do everything that we wanted. This was our first trip ever to New York and it was for my daughter’s birthday. We finally made the hotel around 1:00 am on Saturday. We were thrilled that they gave us a room overlooking Times Square!!! That perked us up! We got up early and went downstairs to talk to Michael whom I had spoke to on the phone Friday before we flew in. He got us all hooked up with dinner reservations that night before the show we were seeing and made sure we got tickets for the Big Bus Tours, which was fantastic. When we got to our reservation at the Broadway Lounge, they made sure we had a table overlooking Times Square and our waitress, Ruth, was wonderful. I highly recommend this property for a wonderful stay in the Big Apple!! Thank you so much for making our very short stay memorable Read less

I stayed at the Marriott Marquis New York for 2 nights in late July with my husband and son before a baseball tournament in upstate New York. This property is ideal for those looking to be located in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Times Square while still enjoying a relaxing, secure and quiet stay. 1) Location- right on times square with great views. If you’re interested in seeing a broadway show this is an ideal place to stay. 2) Rooms- the rooms were clean and quite spacious for a New York hotel. The rooms were quiet and we slept well without interruption from outside noise. 3) Service- no issues. From check in to housekeeping to the M lounge, we found everyone to be friendly and they went out of their way to make our stay memorable. The elevator system was a plus for a large hotel with many floors. It helped limit waiting times. 4) M lounge- the breakfast in the lounge was fantastic. If you’re not a Marriott elite member with lounge access consider upgrading - the breakfast was an expansive buffet with something for everyone. It’s the full service buffet that other hotel guests pay for in the restaurant. M lounge guests have a separate eating area. 5) Gym- I was impressed with size and extent of this gym given the hotel location in Times Square. If you’re looking for a New York hotel with a nice fitness center - this property definitely checks that box. 6) Resort fee- many complain about this but we used the credit in the restaurant and were pleased with the food and service. Overall we enjoyed our time and we would absolutely return. Read less

Stayed on the 33rd floor and it was the best view. The room was clean and the staff was great. Overall stay here if you are coming to nyc. Read less
