My mother and I absolutely LOVED OUR STAY AT MOXY! The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and they had vibrant positive attitudes. Ricky checked us in and had so much knowledge about the hotel and the area. Ricky was, "That Guy" if we needed assistance with something! Thank you to the team at Moxy Times Square for the warm welcome. We really appreciated the clean rooms, comfy beds, and the unbeatable location — perfect for exploring NYC. However, one part of the stay didn’t live up to expectations. The Liberty Cruise tickets, offered as part of the destination fee, turned out to be a major disappointment. The 2pm cruise was cancelled without notice, and the pier was poorly signposted, with no shade cover or queue control. Staff on-site lacked authority or information, and with a 5pm flight from JFK, the next cruise was too risky to attempt. Despite a credit offer from the operator, we lost money on extra tickets and transport, and wasted four hours on our final day — making the perk feel more like a liability than a benefit. To be honest, the whole destination fee felt like creative accounting to keep your money within the hotel, and while this seems to be a common trend now, it’s worth questioning whether the perks genuinely add value to the guest experience. A few other points: At the rooftop bar, I was told drinks couldn’t be charged to the room, which is fine, but when paying via contactless, no receipt was provided. I was charged $13 with no breakdown or clarity on tipping — which differs from UK/European norms. Minor issues included very cheap toilet paper, a hairdryer placed extremely close to the toilet (which felt unhygienic), and lifts that occasionally glitched — one even did an emergency stop and paused for several seconds. On the positive side, the lobby staff were attentive and welcoming, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout the hotel — the games, sweet and drinks cart, and drip coffee station added convenience. The room was compact and a bit noisy, but we expected that and found it a comfortable base for exploring the city. It’s a shame — had I written this review midway through the stay, the hotel was on track for a full 5/5. But the final day’s experience really coloured the overall impression. Read less
