“Luxurious Hotel”

The Thompson Central Park is a beautiful, top-tier property located in the heart of New York City. This hotel specializes in making their guests feel luxurious. They offer spacious rooms, room service, 2 restaurants downstairs and a lounge area for certain rooms. There is on property spa and access to Lifetime Gym across the street. It is an amazing hotel.

Very expensive with below average accommodations. Elevators were brutal wait times, and food was below average. In addition, I was charged twice for my stay and have had to dispute and have AMEX intervene.

My 16 year old's Christmas wish was a trip to NYC and I was so excited to make it magical for her. Thompson is centrally located close to the subway so getting around was a breeze. The famous Indian Accent Restaurant is right next door along with a very good ramen shop. I booked a room through Amex because they have a partnership where they offer special perks like early check in, late check out, free daily breakfast and a hotel credit. Check in on Christmas Eve was very impersonal and I wasn't given an upgrade. As for breakfast, they gave us only $120 credit to The Parker, the onsite restaurant with terrible service and extremely expensive prices for subpar food. Breakfast on Christmas morning took two and half hours and everything was cold. The following day we went there for a drink but no one ever came to serve us so we walked out after waiting 20 minutes. The rooms are clean and aesthetically attractive but impractical with their slick bathroom tile and lack of towel hooks. I liked the high end toiletries but the pull out bed was terribly uncomfortable. I was denied late check out even though I was supposed to get through AMEX. Overall, it was a very expensive and disappointing hotel stay.
