Unfortunately, my check‑in experience left a very negative impression. Due to a snowstorm, I arrived at the hotel around noon and asked whether early check‑in was possible. I was told that rooms were available, but that I could not be checked in because someone might arrive later and be willing to pay an early check‑in fee. Being told there was availability but having it withheld on that basis felt unprofessional and inconsistent with what is stated on the hotel’s website.
The website notes that early check‑in is based on availability, which the front desk confirmed existed. There was also no signage at the front desk indicating an early check‑in fee. After waiting an additional hour, I ultimately paid the fee simply to access a room that I already knew was available. The fee was also taxed, bringing it to $54.44, which was not communicated.
As an event planner who frequently travels and works with Marriott properties, this was an unusual and disappointing experience. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this situation felt mishandled and contrary to standard hospitality practices. I hope management reviews how this is handled in the future.
