This was an excellent location for our trip. We wanted to experience Broadway plays and good restaurants. All were just a block or two from the hotel. The staff are exceptionally friendly, and they offered us free water bottles on demand. The breakfast and WiFi were included, and we enjoyed the breakfast each morning. They changed the offerings somewhat each day, but there was always breakfast meats, some kind of cooked egg or omelet, waffles or pancakes, muffins, yogurt, juices, etc. Very satisfying. Our room was rather unusual. There was no chair, dresser, desk, or closet, but some shelving, a bench, and a small table were provided. A nice TV and a full-length mirror are mounted on the wall. (See photo.) The bed was quite comfortable. We had a kitchenette with microwave, mini-fridge, small cooktop, coffee maker, and toaster. Dishes and utensils are provided. One night we heated up some leftovers from a restaurant, but we had to go to the lobby to eat them since there were no tables or chairs in the room. The shower is worth mentioning. It was quite large and had both handheld spray and a rainfall spray, with strong pressure and good temperature control. The shower also had the only chair in the room. (See photo.) We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would gladly return here in the future. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great Staff, Confusing Hotel Name

As frequent Marriott customers, we were expecting a cleaner, more polished room with a name reflecting its amenities. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and welcoming. The hotel is also very close to the theater district, which was very convenient. Other than that, the hotel room itself was a huge disappointment. Our "suite" was at the basement level (which was not included in the room description when we booked seven months in advance). When my husband went to the front desk to request a room change, he was told that this was the only "suite" with a separate bedroom in the entire hotel, and this is why we were given the room. He asked the front desk clerk why the property was called "Townplace Suites" if it only had one suite, and the clerk said that this label was often confusing for guests. My husband then asked to change to a double queen one-room suite, and we were told the hotel was full, and we were stuck with the room below ground level. Had we known at the time of booking that there was only one, one-bedroom suite, and it was located below ground level, we would have gladly paid more money for a different hotel. This room was the equivalent of staying in a relative's basement; dark and dingy. We had to keep our curtains closed at all times, as people walking past could look down into our room. There was no art on any of the walls to distract from the dark, dank atmosphere; the only things visible were water stains and peeling wallpaper. The lone closet in the bedroom was a particleboard stand that looked like it came from Ikea. Please do better with your room descriptions, Marriott. We will not be returning to this property and would not recommend it to anyone. Read less

Stayed on 3/30/25 for a cruise. Perfect location to walk to pier. Rooms are clean and quiet and breakfast was good, but dining area is extremely small for number of guests. Shoutout to Rosalyn who checked us in and explained everything to us, very welcoming and informative!

Just stayed here for 10 days. Also stayed here for 10 days in November. I used to stay at a private club very close to here that was twice the price. Everyone here is so friendly from the maintenance crew to the breakfast service to housekeeping and then especially front desk Everyone cares about you for example, my 85 year-old mother-in-law was having problems with her room. The maintenance man tried to fix it and a couple of days later. It still wasn’t fixed so he came and personally moved her to another room .The next day, maintenance wanted to make sure she was happy. she did not answer the door and the front desk and everyone in the hotel was so worried about her and asked me if it was OK that I called her because they wanted to make sure all was well. She did not have her hearing aids on so did not answer the door. Chocolate chip cookies are made freshly every afternoon. After being out and about in New York, it is so nice to come ‘home’to a sweet treat. The only downside, is the very, very, very slow elevator . The upside is You get to meet a lot of nice people. I look forward to going back in November. Read less

Thanks to Rozina for giving us the best room. It was warm, quiet and a perfect space for our stay. Everyone at the hotel was kind and friendly and very helpful but especially Rozina, nothing was too much to ask. We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks again!
