I picked this hotel simply because it was the most affordable in Midtown during my first visit to NYC during the Christmas season. Having booked through a 3rd party, I was not expecting much in terms of room type and service. I would not hesitate to stay here again for one reason: the service and attention I received at check-in from Sebastian. He could not have been more helpful. He is a prime example of what excellent customer care means. My booking was for an ADA room, and upon opening the door, it felt like it wasn't for me. From experience, I know that others would have said that because I didn't book through Bonvoy, I would have to stay in that room. Sebastian did his best to move me to a regular king room, which was a typical NYC-sized, but clean, room with a well-appointed kitchenette. It was on the 6th floor, away from the street noise.
When I realized that I had left my coat in the previous room, Sebastian went above and beyond to retrieve it, even though the system showed someone was already checked in that room, and my coat was lost somewhere in the hotel. Sebastian saved the day and was such a welcoming sight whenever we walked in from the cold.
I feel like this hotel is a great value. Breakfast was neither memorable nor horrible; it was served in the small but modern lobby lounge where they offer water and coffee all day. The Theater District location was a bit crazy to navigate on foot at times. Nelly's restaurant across the street was a great place to have drinks and or dinner. Overall, this is a solid place to stay.
