I just spent 2 nights at the Towne Place Suites Times Square. I will say, it's better than average but not quite worth 4 stars. Trip Advisor needs to add half star ratings.
My room was ready a bit early which I appreciated. I was in 610. It's very small, I've been in bigger cruise ship cabins. It was clean and the AC worked, but it blows right on the bed so I got an extra blanket. There's only a small padded bench for a seat other than the bed. The bed is very hard and low to the ground. Not very comfy.
The television has a mind of its own. I am not sure if it is a local to the room TV issue or an overall signal problem but it froze, went blank or pixelated more often than not. There's a small fridge, 2-burner cooktop and a microwave as well as a dishwasher and cooking supplies.
You can hear EVERYTHING. Doors slamming, people blowing their nose, all kinds of random building and street noise, including I suppose the garbage being picked up at 4 AM. Don't stay here if you want to actually rest and relax.
The staff is very nice and there is a free breakfast included with some hot items, as well as cereal, breads and pastries and the like. (Standard Marriott Select Service brand fare.)
The hotel is close enough to Times Square for touring but away from the hustle bustle. I've stayed here before and it served its purpose both times, a reasonable hotel not far from the cruise pier for a reasonable price whether using Marriott points or cash. Also there are lots of places to eat within walking distance. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant so you'll need to cook or eat elsewhere.
I don't think I'd stay again due to lack of comfort though the staff was nice and the hotel was good for the 2 nights I needed to be in Manhattan.
