While the room was good and the location was great I had a poor experience that created a poor end to my stay. The breakfast is 40 a person so even on a 5 trip you can only get a single poor quality breakfast for 2. While it was… Read more
While the room was good and the location was great I had a poor experience that created a poor end to my stay. The day before I had talked to the front desk to try and combine my daily food credit from the high destination fee. The breakfast is 40 a person so even on a 5 trip you can only get a single poor quality breakfast for 2. While it was promised that this could be done when I went to check out the very confrontational manager Jorge was unwilling to budge. Even saying that yes even though the employee said that it was allowed. We would have not spent the ludicrous $80 plus tip and tax for such a simple make your own waffle breakfast buffet had we not been told earlier that we could combine credits. Read less

The second I walked into my room, I knew something was wrong. Most of the desk was taken up by a large screen TV, with no outlets to be found! The second I walked into my room, I knew something was wrong. Most of the desk was taken up by a large screen TV, with no outlets to be found! I immediately headed back down to the front desk and asked for a room reassignment. I was told I was in an 'upgraded' room, and assured there is a lamp at the desk with outlets (though I was sure there wasn't). If not, they would send one up. So, I headed back up to my room and - sure enough - no outlet. I called the front desk and they said they would send someone up. The engineer showed up with a dirty, dust covered power strip (I kid you not) that he plugged into the outlet on the other side of the TV and stretched all the way over to my computer (dust and all)! I was too tired to fight, so I worked with it. The problem arose when later that night I tried to use the outlets on the nightstand lamp, and the plugs were literally falling out of the outlets! And, the USB port didn't work. i called the front desk and they said they would send up someone from engineering - but no one ever showed up. I finally called again in the morning, and the nice engineer who showed up brought me a proper, clean, power disc with multiple outlets and USB ports that actually worked! He basically acknowledged there were known issues with my room!!! Oh, and I had a room with 2 queen beds, but one of the beds was unusable because the sheets and cover were dirty!! So disappointed in Westin, which is usually my safe choice for travel! Read less

Booked a room for 3 people to be told on arrival that an extra bed for room would be $50 a night. The extra bed was abandoned in the room in a horizontal position, after several calls to reception, I decided to man handle the very heavy bed myself, and make it up. Room was stinking , an extractor fan was installed, but didn’t make much difference . The place is filthy and outdated. Staff are rude, I decided must be the American way! I had breakfast in the hotel one morning which resulted in a severe dose of dysentery. Refrigerator in room was charged at $20 a stay. I was told at concierge that I needed to tip, as they rely on them for wages. As I say the worst hotel experience ever, WESTIN used to be a trusted brand! not anymore .. Read less

It might not be the most up-to-date property in Times Square, but it is conveniently located and VERY subway accessible. I had what could only be described as one of the largest Manhattan hotel rooms I’ve ever been in during my stay. I will admit on the 14th floor – I could still hear the honking cars and police sirens on the very busy corner of 43rd & 8th Ave – but the comfort of the bed and plush of the pillows let me sleep right thru all of it. The room I had was definitely big enough to work out of for 3 days while visiting old friends & coworkers – and with a giant table and sofa I could have hosted them in my room and plenty of others.   The bathroom was definitely not an after thought as is the case in so many other NYC hotels – plenty spacious.   Also – housekeeping here was amazing – every morning they were there to clean my room when I ran out to get coffee and a bagel and did an amazing job. Plenty of accessible outlets as well to plug in all of your devices.   The only downside is the god forsaken destination fee – there is no way to win with the $20 F&B daily credit and the Starbucks credit is only one time – not a credit for every night you pay the destination fee. Its unclear how many times you’re supposed to ride the NY Waterways or see a comedy show. They should just advertise a higher daily rate and stop this destination fee nonsense. Read less
