A great location for us as 1st time visitors to NYC. Convenient to subways, walkable to highline, Rockefeller center, 5th ave if you like shopping, theaters, Times Square, and Madison square garden. I have no complains about the room, it was clean and comfortable, we were on the 44th floor and the views were awesome and we did not hear street noise at night. There was no fridge or microwave though. The hotel allows you to store your luggage at the hotel on the day of checkout so if you have a later flight as we did you can still enjoy your day and come back to get the luggage later. The required $40 destination fee is ridiculous but likely typical. We were given a $20 room credit to use each day but we never did use it because it is not cumulative , you only have the $20 per night and if you don't use it you lose it. My sister in another room did end up going down and getting a $12 coffee a couple mornings which the credit covered. I probably should have tried to at least get a dessert or something each night to bring back to the room but I didn't. If we ever get back to NYC I would definitely consider staying here again. Deeply disappointed with our stay this time around. We came back after 14 years and didn’t even look for other hotels. Back in 2010, it was nothing short of amazing experience. This time around, totally opposite. Wall paper peeling, ripped chairs in the room. Looks like the management doesn’t care. The concierge was the worst. Making faces for… Read more

I’ve stayed at this Westin before and had a great experience, which is why we chose to return. Unfortunately, this stay was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived. As soon as we stepped off the elevator on the 14th floor, we were hit with a strong mildew/mold odor that persisted throughout the hallway and into our room, which was located near the elevators. Once inside the room, we noticed that the carpet was stained and that there was only one hand towel provided. We had a dinner reservation, so we quickly dropped our luggage and mentioned the towel issue to the front desk on our way out. They assured us towels would be sent up right away. Five hours later, when we returned, there were still no towels. When we approached the same front desk associate, he deliberately avoided us—even turning away and walking off as we called out to him. Another employee had to stop him and point us out. He gave no indication that he remembered our earlier conversation, and we had to remind him of the towel request and complain about the mildew smell. He walked us over to the night manager, who was unapologetic and dismissive. She claimed there was nothing she could do about the smell, refused to accompany us to the floor to investigate, and said that was a housekeeping issue. When we asked to be moved to another room, she said the hotel was sold out. She eventually offered to take my phone number and said we would be contacted the next morning as soon as a different room became available. That call never came, and we were never moved. We spent three nights in that room with the persistent and overwhelming odor, which seemed to be irritating our eyes and skin more each day. On the second day, I spoke to someone in housekeeping who said they’d “see if someone could come spray air freshener” on the floor. That obviously wouldn’t solve the underlying issue, and of course, nothing was ever done. I genuinely expected better from the Westin brand, especially based on our previous experience here. But the lack of responsiveness, accountability, and concern for guest comfort on this visit was truly disappointing. We’ll be choosing a different hotel for our next stay in New York. Read less

While the room was good and the location was great I had a poor experience that created a poor end to my stay. While the room was good and the location was great I had a poor experience that created a poor end to my stay. The day before I had talked to the front desk to try and combine my daily food credit from the high destination fee. The breakfast is 40 a person so even on a 5 trip you can only get a single poor quality breakfast for 2. While it was promised that this could be done when I went to check out the very confrontational manager Jorge was unwilling to budge. Even saying that yes even though the employee said that it was allowed. We would have not spent the ludicrous $80 plus tip and tax for such a simple make your own waffle breakfast buffet had we not been told earlier that we could combine credits. Read less
