The hotel

Is there anywhere better for shopping than Manhattan? You’d be hard pushed to find so. And if shopping is your reason to visit New York, then this is a great base to do so. Branding themselves as a ‘micro’ boutique, the Arlo SoHo offers far more than this. The rooms are designed to be compact, but trendy, just like the neighbourhood it sits in. The communal library turns from a chilled place to check your emails, and read a book by day, to a buzz of conversation, board games, and chilled drinks as the evening comes in. And if it’s a nice day, why not move out to the courtyard with your refreshments, although you also don’t want to miss the views from the rooftop bar as the sun is lowering and the NYC lights come alive. The rooms are effortlessly cool, with a homely feel, and will have you rejuvenated for another day of hitting the shops or walking by the Hudson.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating The best hotel I’ve stayed in in NYC

I’ve been coming to NYC for 25 years and stayed in dozens of hotels…..this one is my favourite! The rooms have everything you would need and it’s well worth paying extra for a city view. The hotel is quiet, modern and the staff are truly fantastic. The beds are huge and so comfy and it really feels like luxury. As for people saying the rooms are… Read more

The hotel is quiet, modern and the staff are truly fantastic. The beds are huge and so comfy and it really feels like luxury. As for people saying the rooms are small? This is New York, rooms are never going to be huge. I’ve stayed in 5* hotels with the same amount of room. In fact I thought this was in the more spacious side. Special shout out to Moises who was more than helpful and always greeting everyone with a smile - a true credit to an already wonderful hotel. I can’t wait to be back! Read less

I had an excellent stay at Arlo Soho in August 2025. The location is perfect—close to great restaurants, cafes, and shops, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful. The rooms are modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed, making great use of space. Staff were warm, professional, and always ready to help, which made the experience even better. The… Read more

The rooftop view is stunning, especially at sunset, and the overall vibe of the hotel feels chic yet welcoming. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting NYC. Read less

Image of the Tripadvisor rating This is a low service pod hotel near the Holland Tunnel

Aug 11, 2025 ktw26 New York City, New York

If you need a pod room directly next to the Holland Tunnel and don't care if the room is lame (falling apart, cheap sheets, so small you can't walk aroound the bed, no coffee) or that the staff are dismisssive and rude this could be your place. It is very convenient. Be aware though booking at the the lot the hotel uses is much cheaper if you… Read more

What I liked most about the Arlo SoHo was the aesthetic and design of the shared spaces, the lobby, lounge, restaurant and rooftop bar. The cool design touches didn’t extend as far as the hallways which were like any tired business hotel. The room design was minimalistic and small (as expected), the length of the bed was the width of the room. While the bed was very comfortable, your outlook is everyone else’s bed up against the windows. The shower felt like I was in a hospital (maybe it was the curtain). The small under bed storage space didn’t leave much room for two suitcases and backpacks other than on the floor. Two sets of rubber Arlo slides priced at $14 each took up valuable storage space in the room. The location is directly across from the Holland Tunnel entrance and several major traffic roads. It’s a 15 minute walk to the SoHo shopping district on Broadway and to get there you need to cross several major busy roads. It’s a short 5-10 minute walk to Spring St and Canal St subway stations. As a tourist I felt like everywhere was an isolated walk. I wouldn’t stay again. Read less
