The hotel

The Roxy Hotel Tribeca is located on the border of SoHo and TriBeCa, two of downtown’s most affluent residential neighbourhoods, where cobblestone streets and historic cast iron buildings give way to the most exclusive boutiques, restaurants, and galleries. The Hotel’s triangular shape gives the property its inimitability, most evident in its interior’s soaring eight-story atrium. The expansive Church Lounge with low-lying furniture is an ideal place to lounge, meet, or work by day and the perfect place for cocktails with friends at night, and nightly shows at the Django cellar club, as well as the art deco cinema, are sure to keep you entertained.

Always love the Roxy. We rolled in with our puppy and two kids and Derek and Tedene were there to help with everything. Made it so easy for a trip that could have been very hectic.

We had a wonderful stay! The hotel is perfectly located. The staff is excellent. Special mention for Derek who went out of his way to help me and my two year old while we situated the car. Thanks again Derek

I feel completely confused about all of the raving reviews of this hotel. It was just OK at best and cost almost $500 for one single night stay. On check in, the very arrogant receptionist with blonde hair and a beard literally laughed at my partner for inquiring about the free valet parking summer special as advertised on their website and wouldn’t even help her get the valet at all. Not sure if he didn’t realize we are paying guests or…? For that kind of snotty attitude, I would expect the hotel to be spotless— or at least one equipped with a single housekeeper? Didn’t seem to be one in sight. Enjoy the disgusting photos I’ve attached. The rooms are dark, which was expected, but the windows are absolutely filthy and you can barely see out of them from grime. Only one functional elevator for the whole hotel; other one is broken, so expect a headache every time you want to get back upstairs to your room because there will be a line. The music is indeed VERY loud but fortunately we were lucky enough to be housed off the main atrium. Would have been miserable if we had been on a lower floor or facing the atrium (which appears to be 80% of the rooms). The rooms are absolutely filthy, like think dust and grime balls coating the legs of the furniture, previous guests’ hairballs on the floor, dirty shower curtain, etc. There is a “mini bar” equipped with things like $20 vibrators and $35 Andy Warhol playing cards. Have at it if that’s your vibe, but don’t expect to store any of your own refrigerated goods because the dirty Smeg mini-fridge (so posh) is completely crammed full of wildly overpriced liquor. The cinema downstairs was cute but seating was very uncomfortable; nobody even checked for our tickets! We just walked in and had to politely ask other people who had clearly walked in without paying to move from our seats that we had actually paid for. Furthermore, all of the railing is bent outwards leaving a very dangerous opening between the railing and a plummet 8 stories high. I would never consider bringing my children here- my 2 year old could have literally fallen through the openings! Don’t be fooled by all of the glowing reviews. This glorified motel is just a tourist trap. The staff seem very satisfied with themselves and won’t bother to show you any kindness or hospitality. Come for the jazz band if you like that sort of thing, but don’t stay in the hotel. There are so many other choices in Manhattan at this price point that won’t have you sleeping next to a disgusting nightstand with mystery stains. Read less

The glass of champagne from the front desk upon arrival and the water bottles as we needed them were helpful also! The hotel definitely had a cool vibe. Very retro and dark. We didn’t go the movie theater downstairs but it does show movies daily (maybe more independent films??). The hotel lounge was nice with plenty of couches, pool table, smaller tables. There was jazz in the lounge that ended at 10 so if you go to bed early expect there might be music outside your room. The room was clean and comfortable. Location was great. Walked to soho, Chinatown, little Italy. Walked to lower east side but that was a 30 minute walk. Would definitely stay again if visiting nyc. Read less
