The hotel itself was lovely, clean, and inviting. There is a warmth to the space that makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive.
The gentleman who checked me in was wonderful, and though I unfortunately didn't catch his name, I genuinely appreciated his warmth and attentiveness during what was a brief one-night stay. Room service was equally impressive — the woman who answered the phone was a delight, the food arrived quickly, and the overall experience was seamless. That same evening, a lovely member of the housekeeping team knocked to offer turndown service. I didn't need it, but she kindly left me a few extra bottles of water, which was a thoughtful touch I genuinely appreciated.
The following morning, I visited the front desk to get change for a $20 bill. The male staff member handled it promptly, and I inadvertently left my room key behind. I walked only a short distance and spent roughly ten minutes standing at the bottom of the nearby staircase speaking with colleagues, well within eyesight of the desk. When I returned to retrieve the key, the same gentleman handed it back without a word. I'll be honest: that was a missed opportunity. A simple "Excuse me, you've left your key" would have gone a long way, and given how close I was, there was ample chance to do so. It's a small thing, but in a hotel of this caliber, those small gestures make a meaningful difference.
Before checking out, I had breakfast at the Clocktower Restaurant and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is dark and moody in the best possible way, and the photographs lining the walls feel like a genuine time capsule, a real character to the place that you don't find everywhere. The staff were fantastic throughout.
Checkout was handled beautifully by a member of the front desk team, professional, warm, and efficient. She left a lasting and positive impression.
Overall, this is a hotel with genuine character, excellent food, and staff who mostly deliver at the level you'd expect. A small lapse aside, I would return without hesitation.
