The hotel

Like a beautiful, glass puzzle box, this newcomer to Seattle’s luxury boutique hotel scene stands just a block away from Pike Place Market and the waterfront. As such it commands disarming views of Puget Sound through to the distant Olympic Mountains from The Nest – the Thompson Seattle’s urbane rooftop bar and outdoor living room – and many of its rooms and suites – through pulse-quickening, floor-to-ceiling windows. Decorated with elegant materials given quirky contemporary life through an understated colour palette, the look and feel is very much 'comfortable luxury residence'; something that’s only enhanced by a 24-hour fitness centre, complimentary WiFi, and California Kitchen, a restaurant that turns the finest locally sourced ingredients into dishes that become lifelong memories.

Honestly a great place to stay. Good location, friendly staff and a great room. Some room for improvement (tv has no apps and no Airplay…etc), but would stay here again. Can’t beat the views from the room and and the bar upstairs. The gym is great too, has all the basics you’d need + extras.

The staff is amazing…friendly, attentive and they anticipate every need! The decor is beautiful, aesthetic and inviting. The rooms are small but well laid out and apportioned. House cleaning is world class…. Every day the room is made and the bathroom spotless. I came for business but could definitely recommend to couples. This is simply a great place to stay in Seattle, from the first glass of champagne and cookies they offer at check in ( or anytime you go to the front desk) to the friendly doorman that always gets the door for you… the Thompson Hotel is a cut above. Keep up the amazing work! Read less

Very pretty view. As a business traveler this hotel isn’t great. 1) walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbor’s every sneeze 2) room service doesn’t start until 7am and delivery was at 7:45am - those of us who wake up at 5am need morning coffee! I’d recommend doing a happy hour here but stay elsewhere
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great location, disappointing room and common areas

Great location makes it easy to access many good attractions and restaurants on foot. The people I dealt with were pleasant and helpful, particularly at breakfast and valet. The room was dreary and small. Lighting was poor, small window with a terrible view. I imagine some of their more expensive rooms are better, but I paid well over $300 for… Read more
Great location makes it easy to access many good attractions and restaurants on foot. The people I dealt with were pleasant and helpful, particularly at breakfast and valet. The room was dreary and small. Lighting was poor, small window with a terrible view. I imagine some of their more expensive rooms are better, but I paid well over $300 for this tiny room. The bed and shower were good quality, but the room was not good for much else. One of the big selling points, and something that could help make up for the depressing little room, was supposed to be the rooftop bar. Despite multiple attempts at different times, I never could get the elevator to take me to the roof. Downstairs common areas were also small and cramped. Read less

Stayed here recently and the experience was just OK. The rooms are quite small and clearly remodeled years ago from its former old hold in the downtown area of Seattle. That means they did as best they could we reconfiguring old pipes and floorpans to make them acceptable to our modern times. As a result many things have been sacrificed. The room size is on the smaller size as compared to modern hotel rooms of today. The bathroom itself is small and compact placing modern fixtures on old pipes (eg takes a while for hot water while fully twisting the knob several times), the lifts run super slow and can only accommodate 6 people comfortably. The windows are super thin which means I was able to hear most activity throughout the night from the homeless population on the streets and alleys. The light switches, are old and out of place and there are few available outlets. I honestly wouldn't stay here again as a result as my standards are a bit higher. I am well traveled and have the highest tier status with Hyatt which did absolutely nothing for me except get me a free breakfast in their small cafe in the lobby which doesn't even open until 7A. They have a bar/cafe on the roof with a gorgeous view but the menu is super small. The photos on the site make it look super modern but definitely not the same hotel. Read less
