The hotel

Like a beautiful, glass puzzle box, this newcomer to Seattle’s luxury boutique hotel scene stands just a block away from Pike Place Market and the waterfront. As such it commands disarming views of Puget Sound through to the distant Olympic Mountains from The Nest – the Thompson Seattle’s urbane rooftop bar and outdoor living room – and many of its rooms and suites – through pulse-quickening, floor-to-ceiling windows. Decorated with elegant materials given quirky contemporary life through an understated colour palette, the look and feel is very much 'comfortable luxury residence'; something that’s only enhanced by a 24-hour fitness centre, complimentary WiFi, and California Kitchen, a restaurant that turns the finest locally sourced ingredients into dishes that become lifelong memories.

This hotel has a lot going for it — the location is excellent, and the boutique feel is stylish and well thought out. It should be a great stay. It is very easy to get an Uber from this location. The only positive was the fact that my room was ready early, this was very much appreciated. I didn't experience noise levels that others described, it was fairly quiet on my floor. Unfortunately, the service experience really missed the mark. The room service menu is extremely limited — no white wine, no dessert options, and a surprisingly small selection overall. My Americano from room service was simply awful. Others commented on this before, but 7 am breakfast start is unacceptable for business travelers. Housekeeping was exceptionally poor: dirty glasses weren’t cleared from the room on any of my 3 days of stay, and nothing was replenished — not even basic coffee supplies. I know that the sheets weren't changed. The Nest bar seemed to be constantly overtaken by events — during my stay, a large group of interns dominated the space, making it impossible for actual guests to enjoy. It felt more like a club venue than a hotel bar. Last note - many people wrote about this but the A/C is a huge issue. I didn't think it would be an issue given the weather in Seattle. However, the room is simply not cold enough, particularly in rooms facing West (there is sun shining directly at your room till 9 pm in the summer - bring masks with you if you are traveling from the East Coast and need an early night). I gave up on the A/C after a day... There’s real potential here, but it’s clear that guest experience isn’t being prioritized — especially for those who actually booked a room. I hope they course-correct, because the property itself deserves better. Read less

The location is great across the street from Pike Market Place. Very nice boutique hotel for your stay. We were in the 7th floor with a view of the ocean, Pike Makret, Farris Wheel, etc. The down side is the room gets a ton of sunlight. The AC was on full blast but didn’t really feel the room cold until sunset. Overall, great despite the AC and… Read more

Room left something to be desired. Paid for a view of the bay and it was amazing! But had a few shortfalls. Thompson is right next to the market and prime location to visit multiple areas easily.

Oscar inside The Conversation gave us above and beyond service. He was very knowledgeable about the wine selection and made sure everything was perfect. Sophie at the front desk was very welcoming.
