A ‘get-away-from-it-all’ retreat, Goulding’s Lodge is seriously secluded. But that doesn’t mean you’ll be short of things to do. Its central spot in America’s ‘Grand Circle’ of national parks and monuments makes it an ideal motel-style base, with freebies like parking and WiFi. Opened as a lodge in the 1920s, movie crews soon flocked here to make Westerns in the surrounding Monument Valley, inspired by owner Harry Goulding: in fact, the likes of John Ford and John Wayne slept and ate here. Today, its museum’s filled with movie mementos, alongside reminders of its trading post and Navajo heritage. For a true taste of Navajo culture, there’s the gift shop’s rug room, and the Stagecoach Dining Room, where local Navajos rustle up home-style dishes – served with Monument Valley views.

I checked in to the campground with my Airstream an hour ago. I reserved the site months in advance based on the reviews.I WOULD AVOID THIS CAMPGROUND ENTIRELY. They charge resort price yet several sites are uneven. For a trailer this is work- to level your gravel site. My picnic table was old and I had a dead tree with no shade at least the spot next to me had a tree. The sites are parking lot close with picnic table as spacer. The wifi does not work with rv wifi. My system will work with filtered wifi but not theirs. There is some kind of block. When I asked about it. The woman said, "oh, that is probably the system for our office equipment- All the signals show as Goulding's Lodge- none work (Airstreams are like faraday cages so good wifi systems are a must for good signal) I was told wifi was from the motel so I could walk there and use my phone at the motel down the road- unacceptable for resort pricing. In a state park or national park I expect a more rugged site with few or no hookups but not somewhere over $100 a night to camp. Review written using starlink.

First off I will say to just stay somewhere else-like anywhere else. This place is old, rooms smell weird, and it could be a decent place with some renovations. The view is not all that great; as their gas station and retention pond are in front of you no matter the room. The main issue is the homeless animals on the property. If you’re an animal…

The view is not all that great; as their gas station and retention pond are in front of you no matter the room. The main issue is the homeless animals on the property. If you’re an animal lover like I am, this REALLY bothered me. We only found out this was an issue AFTER we arrived and my husband asked about a few dogs he saw. Indian Reservation or not - this should be addressed as was not only upsetting to me, but others we met. We’ll never stay here again - I should have extended my stay in Moab.

The villa had everything you needed to be self suffcient if you wanted, grocery store and resturant nearby. It was clean and the linens were fresh and good quality complimentary bathroom toiletries. The porch was an ideal place to sit with a bottle of wine in the evening or a cup of tea to watch the sunrise over the monuments in the morning.
The staff at check in and the resturant were lovely and the food was great to.
Sad we could only secure one night here if you are visiting the monuments this is a must place to stay and if you can get this specific villa even better.

I'll tell you they ruined the place when they built that incredible monstrosity of a hotel
I went long ago in the nineties three or four times camped out in the campgrounds for nothing, ate in the Goulding's restaurant.
Took lots of pictures hiked a few places
That was a time to be alive
No big ugly hotels
No $450 per night rates
Friendly…

We got the last room available it was down at the “convenience store location “ I was disappointed the room was need of work. The toilet was running when we checked in. Call the desk phone network was down. I had to go to the office three times before a maintenance guy finally looked at and said he would write it down for replacement tomorrow I shut the water off so we could sleep. As fir the phone we will look at “tomorrow “.
The water running in the next room made noise and we could hear them opening and closing doors.
Curtains were hanging off their rods usb ports were inop and the place needs cleaning. The car wash next door just added to the experience of the truck engines as they fueled up at the station in front.
I had a steak it good
FYI I am in the room as I write this
