A ‘get-away-from-it-all’ retreat, Goulding’s Lodge is seriously secluded. But that doesn’t mean you’ll be short of things to do. Its central spot in America’s ‘Grand Circle’ of national parks and monuments makes it an ideal motel-style base, with freebies like parking and WiFi. Opened as a lodge in the 1920s, movie crews soon flocked here to make Westerns in the surrounding Monument Valley, inspired by owner Harry Goulding: in fact, the likes of John Ford and John Wayne slept and ate here. Today, its museum’s filled with movie mementos, alongside reminders of its trading post and Navajo heritage. For a true taste of Navajo culture, there’s the gift shop’s rug room, and the Stagecoach Dining Room, where local Navajos rustle up home-style dishes – served with Monument Valley views.

It is an older hotel, but well maintained and clean. The room was small and cozy. It had a nice balcony with a view of Monument Valley. There was an onsite restaurant. The staff and service were good, and the food was adequate. It was dog friendly, and there was a path to RV area to walk a dog. Guests should take advantage of visiting the…

We stayed in the "villas" portion of the property which means each person or couple had a private unit with parking space. We had a kitchen, bed in the common area, plus another bedroom which was separate. Very comfortable and pleasant. A/C affected the separate bedroom and bathroom more than the rest of the unit - i.e. they were cold. Table…

Bad customer service!!!

We arrived around 1230 and we were told that check in was at 4 pm, we were given a map and told we couldn’t use pool until check in time. Not much to do in the area. We called and politely asked for a refund, which they declined. Beware if traveling to this area/hotel the area is desolate other than the views of Monument Valley.

I checked in to the campground with my Airstream an hour ago. I reserved the site months in advance based on the reviews.I WOULD AVOID THIS CAMPGROUND ENTIRELY. They charge resort price yet several sites are uneven. For a trailer this is work- to level your gravel site. My picnic table was old and I had a dead tree with no shade at least the spot…

I checked in to the campground with my Airstream an hour ago. I reserved the site months in advance based on the reviews.I WOULD AVOID THIS CAMPGROUND ENTIRELY. They charge resort price yet several sites are uneven. For a trailer this is work- to level your gravel site. My picnic table was old and I had a dead tree with no shade at least the spot next to me had a tree. The sites are parking lot close with picnic table as spacer. The wifi does not work with rv wifi. My system will work with filtered wifi but not theirs. There is some kind of block. When I asked about it. The woman said, "oh, that is probably the system for our office equipment- All the signals show as Goulding's Lodge- none work (Airstreams are like faraday cages so good wifi systems are a must for good signal) I was told wifi was from the motel so I could walk there and use my phone at the motel down the road- unacceptable for resort pricing. In a state park or national park I expect a more rugged site with few or no hookups but not somewhere over $100 a night to camp. Review written using starlink.

Better off coming for the day

First off I will say to just stay somewhere else-like anywhere else. This place is old, rooms smell weird, and it could be a decent place with some renovations. The view is not all that great; as their gas station and retention pond are in front of you no matter the room. The main issue is the homeless animals on the property. If you’re an animal…

The view is not all that great; as their gas station and retention pond are in front of you no matter the room. The main issue is the homeless animals on the property. If you’re an animal lover like I am, this REALLY bothered me. We only found out this was an issue AFTER we arrived and my husband asked about a few dogs he saw. Indian Reservation or not - this should be addressed as was not only upsetting to me, but others we met. We’ll never stay here again - I should have extended my stay in Moab.
