We really enjoyed our stay at the Washington Hilton. The location felt safe and clean, and it was about a 20-minute walk to Dupont Circle and the Metro, which made getting around Washington, DC easy.
The absolute highlight was the staff. We had the most amazing woman check us in. Unfortunately, I can’t remember her name, but I do have a photo with her and I really hope management sees this review because she deserves a bonus! She was such a lovely, friendly person and made a great first impression.
We had a high-floor room facing the rear of the hotel rather than Connecticut Avenue, and it was surprisingly quiet. The room itself was small but very clean, with a comfortable bed, excellent shower water pressure, good counter space for toiletries, a safe, and a Smart TV, which I really appreciated.
A couple of things worth knowing: not every room has a mini-fridge, so we had to request one and have it delivered. Also, this was the first hotel I’ve ever stayed at that didn’t leave an extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom 😂 — definitely something I noticed!
There were lots of e-scooters and bike rentals around the terrace and lobby levels, which was convenient for anyone wanting an alternative to walking or taking the Metro.
The lobby had some nice touches too, including lemon-and-cucumber infused water and afternoon trail mix stations.
Food service was the weak spot. We tried Four Oaks and, while the food itself was decent, the service was not good. We also ended up leaving McClellan’s because there was only one server for a completely full restaurant, so understandably things weren’t moving. The restaurants could definitely use more staffing during busy periods.
Overall, though, the hotel itself was excellent, particularly for a conference or business stay. The staff were genuinely wonderful, our room was clean and quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the location worked well for exploring the city.
Pro tip: If you’re sensitive to noise, request a higher floor facing away from Connecticut Avenue. Our room was wonderfully quiet. And if you happen to get checked in by the lovely woman who helped us… tell her she’s amazing! ❤️
