Phoenix Park Hotel

Washington DC, USA

Star rating

The hotel

Its stately setting on Capitol Hill is just the start of the ‘grandeur’ you can expect at Phoenix Park Hotel. A historic property that’s been treated to an $8 million makeover, this has all the sharp styling you’d expect from a hotel right at the heart of this modern metropolis, just a block from Union Station and a stroll from the top sights and shopping. The splendour starts the minute you step inside, with its elegant lobby dressed in mossy greens, uplifting blues, and the sparkle of its shimmering floor, chandeliers, and gold-daubed sweeping staircase. The dining here is more rousing than refined though – with its snug Irish pub, The Dubliner, outfitted with bottle-green walls and emerald leather bar stools, and bringing you all the classics, including fish and chips, Irish Beef Stew, Guinness, and even the odd Irish ‘jig’.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating incredible hotel, conveniently located with an exceptional staff

it is always a pleasure to stay at this hotel. It is conveniently located across the street on the train station. And nearby too many of the historical monuments. The staff is always extremely pleasant, courteous, and professional. The restaurant is also a big highlight. Highly recommend the Phoenix hotel.

Most everything about my Phoenix Park Hotel experience was minimal except for the room description and price. My room, marketed as Superior King Room, was small and largely taken up by the bed. It had one small window looking out on a brick wall a few feet away and was furnished with a small table and one armchair. In the absence of a desk and chair and too few electrical outlets, it was not suitable for much beyond sleeping. The bathroom was devoid of hooks, towel racks, grab bars and countertop. An additional $32 per day Daily Facility Fee was charged to cover WiFi, a welcome drink, bottled water, and coffee but not breakfast. On the positive side, the location was quite good, the bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. Overall, don’t expect too much. Read less

Good hotel, great location. Clean and comfy bedding, good sized room. Cheap parking nearby if driving. Only downside is the $32 amenity fee for some mediocre coffee. Seems a money making policy rather than offering true amenities.

Great Staff, I love The Dubliner, and spotless room👍. I have stayed here 3-4 times and it is the only place I will stay when in DC. I rode Amtrak and walked across the street to the hotel- perfect!

This hotel had very comfortable beds, but a small room with tight spaces. It's in a great location and felt very clean inside and out.
