We stayed 13 years ago and it gets better each time. The decor is beautiful, food is gorgeous, entertainment is wonderful, rooms are lovely and spacious, but most importantly the staff from the management down are the best you could have in our opinion. They are so attentive and make you feel so very special. We can’t wait to visit again hopefully for my 71st birthday. I would love to name some staff that stood out, but as all the staff we met were so lovely the list would be too long. Thanks for the best holiday ever. Read less

Wow! We decided to get married at this venue and we couldn’t have chosen better. Staff 5 star. Accommodation 5 star. Beach 5 star. Food 5 star. It’s hard to know how our experience could be bettered. Maybe a little less rain, but even with that the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Staff training must be awesome because the EW staff achieve that mixture of individual service without being over familiar. Now a few do’s and donts Don’t fly BA from Gatwick business. It’s a complete and utter customer nightmare. No choice of food on an old rickety plane. Try complaining to BA and you’ll be answered by a ‘bot. Shocking service shocking customer support. Plane staff onboard embarrassed. Save your money Airport to hotel shuttle- during the day 1-25 duration ish If you arrive on the 10 am Garwick flight you’ll have a 2hr plus trip through traffic after you arrive at 1510. Castries is a traffic nightmare. But East winds is a must if you’re in the 40 plus age bracket. It’s quiet and tranquil. If you’re after a boom boom disco pool time this isn’t the place. Try Sandals. As Arnie said ‘I’ll be back’ Read less

We spent a week here after spending a week in another hotel on the south of the island. There was a completely different vibe at East Winds - very peaceful and relaxing. As mentioned in other reviews, the clientele is mostly retired British couples. In our late 50s, we considered ourselves to be younger than many of the other guests. There were however a few much younger couples including one on honeymoon, who, despite the obvious age gap, appeared to be having a great time. The other young couple, we heard were influencers, invited there by management. The hotel has very recently refurbed and the furniture and soft furnishings are fresh and colourful. Sadly, the old furniture is currently being stored in the gym meaning the gym is out of action. We had the sense the hotel is currently at a cross roads, negotiating which route to take for the future. Do they continue to cater for the retired Brits, many of whom come back year after year, and do not want the hotel to change or do they look to attract a new future client base?. To stay successful inevitably means a business has to evolve and adapt to changing customer needs. We, in our late 50’s, are the potential returning customer base of the future, but, like many of our age, we value our fitness and seek opportunities to exercise regularly, but with the gym closed and no exercise classes my only outlet was getting up early to swim lengths in the pool before the other guests were up. Some days I couldn’t even do this until after breakfast as the pool was ‘closed’. I would love to introduce my children (in their mid- late 20’s ) to this lovely hotel, but I know they too would want a working gym and/ or fitness classes to be available. The hotel could maintain its calm tranquillity at the same time as providing more opportunities for those who wish to exercise and this might attract a new customer base Positives Fresh Fruit and yogurts at breakfast with Lovely cappuccinos and lattes made to order Afternoon tea and cakes / biscuits served from 4-5pm Great bbq with local lobster as it was in season and a fun cocktail competition despite horrendous weather that evening Nikita ran the twice weekly pilates class - she just took one look at everyone and accurately diagnosed any joint issues - The Second time around, we were the only couple there so she focussed on our own particular strengths and weaknesses which was great Damien, Devon and Joe- the water sports staff- seemed happy to take us out on a hobie , wind permitting, in the morning if we asked them. This was a highlight for us Lovely beach- not long enough for taking walks along but lots of space for the hotel guests with enough loungers and plenty of shade and a nice and welcome breeze from the sea. Pool area with serve yourself bar. Pool big enough for swimming lengths in if desired Negatives First night- our dinner order had obviously been forgotten and we didn’t get any food served despite couples seated after us being served 2 courses. This was rectified once we pointed it out The Gym was closed as it was being used to store old furniture- this was a great disappointment for us. I really hope they dispose of the furniture and refurb the gym sooner rather than later. In the meantime extra exercise classes in the gym pavilion would help compensate. The multi-talented water sports staff could help out here at no extra cost to the hotel e.g. by hosting aqua aerobics, small group guided kayaking or fitness classes Pool opening times not advertised . On several occasions, I wanted a swim before breakfast and couldn’t as it was closed for cleaning. On one of these days, a member who was sweeping around the pool told me it was ok to go in the pool but once in the pool, another member of staff told me to get out. The pool needs to be open from 6.30 am daily please to cater for the needs of the mainly British guests who wake up very early due to the time difference. The Fridge was not restocked with white wine- when we asked for more, a non chilled bottle was supplied an hour later so we couldn’t drink it before dinner as we had hoped to Would we return- yes probably if the gym has re-opened Read less
