Dubai for families: A suggested one-day itinerary
Start your day with a trip to one of Dubai’s action-packed leisure parks. If the desert heat gets too much, head to Wild Wadi Waterpark, with a range of refreshing and thrilling rides that are a sure-fire way to entertain the kids all morning. If theme parks appeal more, check out Dubai Parks and Resorts, which opens in October 2016 with three brand new parks – the movie-inspired motiongate™ Dubai, the world’s first Bollywood-themed park Bollywood Parks™ Dubai and the family friendly LEGOLAND® Dubai.
Spend the afternoon exploring the city’s world-famous mega-malls. Start at Mall of the Emirates and head straight to the Middle East’s first indoor ski slope and snow park Ski Dubai, where the little ones can enjoy tobogganing, sledding, ski lessons and penguin encounters. Next, make your way to The Dubai Mall, home to interactive edutainment centre Kidzania and indoor theme park SEGA Republic, which features 15 exciting rides. Don’t miss the dancing Bellagio-style Dubai Fountain just outside the mall. Shows take place daily every 30-minutes from 6pm to 11pm, with lunchtime shows at 1pm and 1.30pm (2pm on Fridays).
When the sun goes down, head to Global Village. One of Dubai’s top family entertainment venues, the park (open November through April from 4pm to midnight during the week and 1am on weekends) presents 30 colourful pavilions representing different countries. Spend the evening dining on international cuisine, shopping, and going on rides at Fantasy Island. There’s also an exciting schedule of stage shows, concerts and fireworks displays to discover.
