Visiting Toronto for the first time we would like to stay near the city center where we could walk around and have easy access to the food, shops and attractions. Me and my friend’s family embarked on our first visit to Canada’s biggest city via VIA Rail from Montreal where we also visitied. I would say its a pretty big, modern, developed city and has its own unique charm and interesting places to offer. We were looking for a nice hotel and lucky we found a very affordable 2 nights stay via Trip at Holiday Inn Toronto Downtown Center. We booked a Standard Double room for 2 nights with breakfast at just 400 SGD++. They allowed 4 adults to stay at this room at 18 sqm with 2 massive Double beds and a toilet with Tub this is one of the most affordable stays we have at Holiday Inn right at the middle of Toronto Downtown. The hotel is close to Yonge street, the main artery of Toronto the starts from Lake Ontario travelling downtown to Lake Simcoe. It passes thru the main commercial, entertainment and touristic distric of the city where all the food, stores, shops, attractions, buildings, and historic places are located. Holiday Inn is just 3 mins walk from Yonge street that’s why we decided to stay here. Were close to the big grocery Loblaws, different restaurants/cafes/stores and big malls like Simons and Toronto Eaton center plus the best Jollibee restaurant outside Phils in town especally the Palabok noodles!!! Nothing could get better than this location!!! Also, the day trips we booked pickup is just behind us in nearby Marriott hotel. Taking Uber is also easy but since its the central location all sorts of people are here so just be weary of your surroundings!!!
Checkin was fast and smooth and they have 2 entrances but they collect deposit from us of about 100 CAD for 2 night refundable upon checkout. We were booked at 12F with city view . The hotel lobby was very modern and elegant with lounge area/cafe/bar and I loved that they have security with them to check on peole using the lift. The hallways embody Holiday Inn’s interior, aesthetics and colours of Off white, Grey and Neutral tones for the Walls and Ceilings. The floors are carpeted of Brown and White Patterns. Our room was ready when we moved in and its very clean and neat. Despite 4 of us the room has enough space for each of us to move - in fact the Double beds feel like Queen beds that’s how big it is. My godson love IHG hotels and he knew the beds are the star of our room - embodies a true 4 star hotel with its massive Double beds, Right firmness of the Mattress, Fluffy and Soft Double Pillows, Thick and Comfy Blankets and Cushioned Headrest for protections - truly a Holiday Inn quality and standards!!! The Beds are the favourite part of their room. My Godson jumped right away upon entering the room that’s how goods the beds are!!! There is a bed table in between and we could not bring them together. Bed lamps are at the center and power outlets as well. They provide enough space on the window and the toilet side for our luggages and stuff which is a clever idea!!! The windows have plastic blackout roller curtains. TV is wall mounted with lots of local/cable channels but not smart TV. The mini-bar is quite small located at the TV area and they provided us bottled waters/paper cups and coffee maker with capsules. If you need Water Kettle you may request as well as hotel slippers and toiletries. They have mini fridge provided as well but contrary to the high quality of the other furniture and facilities they only provide paper cups. WIFI is fast as expected.
Next is the Toilet/Tub area near the door. There is a huge Grey open wardrobe first beside the TV area with compartments/fridge/safety lock/clothes hangers/ironing board/iron provided. This is a big space to place your things and luggages as well. The toilet/tub area is also admirable. I loved their Dove toiletries all provided up to Handwash and Body Lotion. The powdery scent of Dove is truly a timeless classic. Water heating/pressure is working perfectly, easy to control and strong. There is a huge wall lighted mirror on the sink and they provide clean/soft towels. The tub is quite low but easy to drain/fill with water. The hotel also has an indoor heated poiol and a spa/fitness center but we didn’t use them due to our short stay maybe next time. Finally, other than our room the best part of our stay at Holiday Inn is their breakfast buffet!! We looked forward to it every morning and they have the finest selections of Western breakfast like the bacons, sausages (my fave), potatoes, scrambled eggs, french toast, assorted breads and pastries, fruits, yoghurt, cereals, assorted cheese, coffee/tea/milk/juices, beans, granolas to name a few. The breakfast was held at their THIRTY restaurant & lounge which has modern and cool dining vibes. We especially loved their Xmas tree and we were always seated at the round white table by the Xmas tree which makes our breakfast even more delightful and appetizing!!! It really was the most wonderful time of our stay at Holiday Inn Downtown Toronto!!!
