She accomodated my requests for a room in Block 1, as it was my 3rd visit.Room service was exceptional throughout my stay, thanks to Shamai. On Saturday I had supper at the Japonese Resto. Kevin, the cook, was exceptionally funny, which made the experience very nice and entertaining. I tried the Italien resto the food was acceptable. The hostess, Kerrian, was helpful with the choice of meal. Due to the many renovations ongoing at the resort, there was a shortage of staff in several areas. At the Buffet, Marsha, Priscilla, Natalee, only to name a few, were always very friendly and polite. The staff preparing the meals were very professional. A special note to Kenisha who was always cheerful and polite, notwithstanding the heat in that area. I understand that because of the last Hurricane, there was a shortage of fresh fruits. I met the employees of the Marketing Group, namely Peta-Gaye and her supervisor, Marcia. Very nice ladies, attentive to your requests. Again, I enjoyed my stay and I will consider coming back for a 4th visit. Thanks to your team. Read less

I stayed at the Catalonia hotel with 16 other family members, and not ONE of us would ever stay there again or recommend the hotel to anyone. While the ground staff are very pleasant and helpful, the middle and upper management of the hotel is very poor. Myself and my husband had to change rooms due to lack of warm water in the shower, and several of my family members had to change rooms, some multiple times, due to lack of warm water in the bathroom, and a mouldy smell due to lack of ventilation in the bedrooms. When a plumber was called to 'fix' these issues, he would share that he comes to these rooms frequently, and management are aware of the issues but yet keep placing customers in those rooms, perhaps hoping that they won't bother to complain and change rooms. These issues were particularly concentrated in and widespread throughout Block 4. My family members were constantly going to the front desk due to issues with their rooms, and myself, my husband and my mum spent (wasted) much time arguing with the front desk because bottled water was repeatedly never put in our fridge, even though this was agreed to as compensation for having to change rooms. The CATalonia hotel has many stray cats roaming around, and when we were eating in some of the hotel's restaurants they would jump onto adjacent tables and crawl around your legs looking for food. This made eating in their restaurants very uncomfortable. I also saw one toying with a mouse. Even if you are a cat lover, you don't want stray cats all around when you are trying to enjoy your holiday. Overall I would recommend that you don't waste your money at this hotel. When we all booked it was the Holiday Inn Resort, and between booking and flying out, ownership changed to the Catalonia and it was evident that the conditions of the hotel considerably declined from there. It was too late by then for any of us to change our booking without paying £100s. It was a disappointing start to mine and my husband's honeymoon, and the fact that I'm writing this review months after staying there shows just how memorable our stay there was, for the wrong reasons. Excellent hotel. Very safe and clean. Kids club staff - Serena, Elsa and Pauline are wonderful. Rose, the housekeeper was excellent. Food is fantastic. All staff are courteous and helpful. Pool is great, they have laundry service and a gym. Beach has clean clear water that you can walk out very far. Would come back.

Ahhh the stay was okay. Check in guy was great, I can’t remember his name but I know it started with a “D”. Bellman (Michael) was very helpful and informative. The pool was a nice temperature and the beach was okay. Some games around the pool would’ve been nice rather than at the stage. I loved Kev and Anthony the lifeguards, very funny, level headed and entertaining. The music was a little boring at least for my taste. We stayed in building 3, the room itself LOVELY. But the elevator area (by the Nurses’ Station) had a scent. We chalked it up to the Reno’s. On to my two issues.. -My child asked for a grilled cheese like the white man in front of us got before. The young man working there said he couldn’t do that for us and the grilled cheese is up there pointing to another snack bar. I said “you cannot do what you just did for that man?” He said “no, they are not allowed to”. So my friend asked what’s the difference between that man and my child. He said the man got it from the other snack area and brought it down for him to grill it. If that’s the actual truth, that’s unsanitary and gross. How can you walk up and down with food (as the guest) and bring it into a different prep area. That sounds like no one has done food handler training. At one point, I could see a bunch of bartenders and other support staff gathered together and all talking and looking at us. It’s pretty clear the story was being relayed hence the stares but I guess you can’t really complain about people hawking at you. What I interpret it as is the $3000 Canadian dollars I paid was not the same as the more conventional looking tourist but that’s neither here or there. We also had issues with the buffet staff not necessarily waiting on us. At one point, we had 9 plates stacked on the edge of the table and nothing. SPECIAL SHOUT OUT Big up Deane that was working at the Terrace. He made my child feel so special on her birthday. Very funny and just seems like he really enjoys the job. Catalonia has a lot of potential and I can’t wait to see what it’s like a year from now. Read less
