Typical top notch Iberostar experience. Extremely efficient and friendly staff. Hotel is a little dated and the rooms show it - but overall OK. Lots of activities and loud around the pool and during nightly entertainment. But if this is your thing you'll enjoy it.
Grounds are well maintained - some minor construction going on when we were there but it didn't disturb us at all. Food at the buffet was varied every day and very good. Lots of meat and fish, as well a good variety of vegetarian, gluten free, and children fare. The chef (I believe his name is Dwight) knows his art. We only ate once at the Greek a la carte restaurant - there are 4. Food was spotty but service was extremely professional. The restaurant manager Dianne has everything under control and our server Sophia was wonderful. The fitness center has to be seen even if you are not a gym person. Extremely large for a resort and outfitted with Techno Edge equipment, bags, free weights, bikes etc. Classes every day.
On the negative side: the beach doesn't have much shade because the fixed palm canopies were torn away by the hurricane. Unless you're up at 6 to claim a lounge with a towel - on the beach you're out of luck for shade. Also the water is full of sea weed so swimming or even 15-20 feet from shore is uncomfortable.
This is a very good resort for families with younger children
