If Jewel Grande is your first all-inclusive resort, you might find it impressive. However, if you’ve experienced true luxury all-inclusives before, you’ll quickly see why this resort should probably drop the word luxury from its branding. Let’s start with the positives: the grounds are beautiful, and the staff clearly work hard to maintain the aesthetics. Our check-in process was smooth, and every interaction with staff was pleasant — you can tell they genuinely want to help. Unfortunately, they’re limited by the resort’s infrastructure and management. I stayed in Room B1002, a two-bedroom, three-bathroom suite. While it sounds impressive on paper, it didn’t live up to expectations. Upon arrival, we were happy to get into our room early, but the issues were immediately obvious. The fridge door wouldn’t close properly, one of the safes didn’t work, and the master bathroom sinks had major plumbing issues: the left wouldn’t drain and the right had no hot water. These are things housekeeping should’ve caught — assuming they actually cleaned the room before our arrival. We had to wait for maintenance to address the issues, and I reached out to our butler to reschedule our 6 PM dinner reservation. It was 5:15, and the crew was still working, so we needed time to get ready. Unfortunately, we were told that if we missed our reservation, we wouldn’t be able to reschedule during our stay. That was frustrating. Maintenance finished at 5:30, and we rushed to make it to dinner at Pierside for hibachi. I wasn’t prepared for the dining experience. Pierside is a small beachside space with no air conditioning — and with an open flame, it was sweltering. We only ate the steak; the chicken and salmon had been sitting out without any ice, and I didn’t want to risk food poisoning. That said, the chef was entertaining and brought great energy to the meal. We enjoyed the food despite the conditions. Throughout our stay, we realized none of the restaurants or common areas had air conditioning — including the elevators. I know it’s the Caribbean, but the constant heat and mugginess were overwhelming indoors. The buffet food was decent, but the drinks were mostly sugary with very little alcohol. Unless you want to pay for top-shelf liquor, expect a sugar high instead of a buzz. The beach staff were amazing — constantly running back and forth and always kind and helpful. Our butlers, Tyrone and Jody-Ann, did their best to make up for the hibachi situation, and we appreciated their efforts. We also paid extra for a private in-suite dinner arranged by the concierge, Issac, that was hands down the best part of the trip. The chefs and server delivered an exceptional experience with authentic flavors and warm service — absolutely worth the splurge. Back in the room, it took around 10 minutes for the hot water to reach the upstairs bathrooms, so we had to plan around that. The beds were uncomfortable, and housekeeping was inconsistent. Towels were hard to come by, bath mats were often missing, and small details were frequently overlooked. I should add that after I complained about not being able to reschedule our dinner due to the maintenance delay, the resort did offer a complimentary beach cabana as a gesture of goodwill. The beach itself is calm and beautiful, and I enjoyed the water — until I overheard guests openly encouraging their kids to pee in the ocean instead of walking to the bathrooms. That was a real low point. It’s also worth noting that this resort isn’t well-suited for elderly guests or those with mobility challenges. There are lots of stairs, and the property is very spread out. Would I return to Jewel Grande? If I were traveling with kids, possibly. But for a couples’ getaway or anyone looking for true luxury, I’d look elsewhere. Read less

I just got back from a 5-night stay at he the Jewel Grande Resort in Montego Bay. Please, do not waste your money and time. The day we arrived we waited hours for our Villa to be ready. Waited around the hotel in the heat until after 4:30pm, only because I spoke up asking why it's taking so long. Second day there we notice my husband's gold chain was missing. It feels like we spent our whole vacation asking the staff about it. Our housekeeper opened our door a couple times and just walked in while we were inside getting ready - no privacy at all. The day before leaving we took our kids back to our villa to use the bathroom while the housekeeper was cleaning our villa only to find her walking around with one of our toothpicks in her mouth. I could not believe my eyes. No one should be going through our belongings. Later that same day I noticed 2 of my kids' sweaters missing. That's when I realized this was not all a coincidence and too many items had gone missing. I filed a report with the hotel and now I'm back home waiting to hear back from anyone at the resort. Food was mediocre and very limited options. We paid a lot more than we imagined with over $4k in items missing. Would not recommend to anyone. Read less
