I've visited several Jamaican all-inclusive resorts as Jamaica and its people remain one of my favourite islands to visit. The Jewel Grande stands out as a tall, clean, and spacious property, though some areas lacked air conditioning and resorted to large fans. The steakhouse offered the best steak I've had in the Caribbean, though it's not quite Chicago-level. Yes, the beach has some sea grass but is pleasant to walk on, and there are ample chairs and cabanas, though staffing was sometimes stretched at the cabanas. The manmade barrier made the waves enjoyable and re-entering on waves in the hobie cat fun. Restaurant quality was generally good, especially for Jamaican cuisine, but menus were limited and items frequently unavailable; the Italian restaurant had long wait (just under 2 hours from sitting down to food). More attentive, never asked for drinks during any meal other than steakhouse. Also more late-night food options would be welcome. Food access during the off times is more restrictive than other places. The jerk chicken made every day on a grill/smoker on the beach was so good and cabana attendant brought us this every day for lunch. The resort had a lively cultural atmosphere with many Jamaican families (ex-pats and current Jamaican residents), and the staff were friendly and hardworking, though occasionally seemed understaffed (Italian kitchen staff and cabana especially)—special mention goes to Winston at the cabanas and our excellent butlers, Lennox and Toby. Drink quality was really good and not as watered down as other resorts where I have had to insist upon some alcohol in my drink. Our multi-bedroom oceanfront room was comfortable, despite minor issues like insufficient hot water to fill the large tub and missed fridge restocking, however our butler Toby took care of restocking and many items along with Lennox. Housekeeping could improve consistency as they only cleaned once and would left clean towels. In their defense we had do not disturb in mornings but no checks later in day and we never had turndown service (which I don’t really care for other than restocking towels and beverages). Only odd interaction I had was with a security guard while waiting to go to sister resort via golf cart to the ATM (Please get an ATM on your property)…he just said I should give him $20 because he called the golf cart. I laughed that off and just said no. Weird, but people are people and don’t know his situation. He didn’t press our make me feel uncomfortable or try to press. We were celebrating for our trip there so the floors and champaign was so well done...rose petals everywhere. Other items: Resort excursion options felt limited but private snorkeling excursion to doctor’s cave reef area was great. The room key bracelets were great but sometimes fell off small wrists. Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall experience was positive and again for me I really loved having so many Jamaican families there and Jamaican food. The large villas at the beachfront and ones I believe I saw in silver palm courtyard look fun and filled with large families enjoying their time. I would consider returning, possibly for a family reunion. Thanks again Lennox, Toby and Winston for making it extra special. Read less

My family and I went for cousin 50th birthday celebration, so I was about 50 family and friends. From the time we enter the resort everyone was so welcoming and sweet. We was greeted with good morning by everyone we saw. This is my 3rd time to Jamaica and this resort had the best employees, they was so friendly, all of them up bit smiles on their faces. I love the fact that this resort was not crowed. We got the room with butler service which was the best thing ever, I was so happy that we paid for it. Our room was an apartment, we had 2 rooms, 2 bathroom, washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, lost of closet space, we had 2 balcony, living dinner room and kitchen. We stated in Building B which had it own coffee cafe with a view, which you get fresh coffee and pastries everyday, so you did not even have to go breakfast if you a light eater. The pools and beach was empty for most of day, you can get seat in shaded areas. Don't forget about the Jamaican ice-cream, my son and I had it 2 or 3 times a day, we tried every flavor they had. Their so much more about the resort that I love, you just have to go and enjoy it for yourself. The only bad part of this resort the do not have any restaurants or snack bars open after 10 pm, but the do offer room service. But if you have a butler the leave a 8 pm the can leave food in your room for you or order outside food for you before they leave. Also, I did not like the type of rice the served with the rice a peas. I just need to give a big shout out to our amazing butlers Chantell and Alpochino, especially our girl Chantell, from the day we met her she was so sweet and warm to us. We connected with her right away. She was so helpful on everything we asked about, she even helped out 2 others rooms who had butlers. they both made sure text us, in the morning when they get to work and before the leave. Chantell would meet us everyday in the morning before she left. If you got there please request her as your butler. PLEASE CHANTELL NEEDS A RAISE AND SHE NEED TO BE RUNNING MANAGMENT OR SOMETHING AT THE RESORT SHE IS THAT GREAT! I will be booking this resort again. Thank you for a wonderful peaceful vacation! This was my third time staying at Jewel Grande, but unfortunately the worst! My son and his 2 daughters (16 and 4) was vacationing with me to celebrate my birthday 7/18/25. Our stay was from 7/15-7/22/2025. Don't get me wrong, the service from my 2 butlers Toby and Lennox who were assigned to my suite, was excellent! I had superb service from my waiter Daniel, for my Ocean Gazebo birthday dinner, (which ended up being set up on the boardwalk in the blazing hot sun at 5pm, instead of the Gazebo which of course is covered). The dinner time was changed to 7pm, but we were not served dinner until after 9pm..... because they had Daniel walking from the Boardwalk to the restaurant (Waves) located near the lobby, which is quite a long distance WITH NO ASSISTANCE! ONE WAITER on foot going back and forth with large trays in each hand. This was absolutely ridiculous!! RUINED MY BIRTHDAY DINNER!! Not to mention the very hard grained rice and peas that was served with Jerk Chicken at US$120 per person!! The appetizer shown on the menu I chose, was changed without anyone saying a word to me. I could have gotten a much tastier meal at the buffet in Orchids where we ate everyday without any complaint about food. The only problem with Orchid, inside the dinning area the air conditioning was not working, so we would eat in a sauna!! The workers were sweating, the conditions were horrible, but the food was off the chain at Orchid. The managers Sherri-Lee and Asari did their best to compensate by offering me another day to have my dinner actually in the Gazebo, but that did not turn out too well either. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THEY WERE VERY SHORT STAFFED. Even at the Cabanas, which I have always rented and had my own "butler" as advertised by the hotel, this trip the first day (July 19th)there were 2 butlers serving 8 cabanas, and the second day (July 21st) there was only ONE butler serving all 8 cabanas. MANY OF THE ACTIVITES THAT I LIKED WERE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. THE SOFT ICE CREAM BAR WHICH I KNEW MY 4 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WOULD HAVE LIKED, WAS OUT OF SERVICE. ONE OF THE TWO ELEVATORS SERVICING GUEST IN BUILDING B where our room was, WAS OUT OF SERVICE AND YOU WOULD FEEL LIKE YOU WERE IN A SAUNA IN THE ONE THAT WAS WORKING WHENEVER IT EVENTUALLY CAME!! Too many things were not functioning on this trip without any form of monetary compensation! It was very disappointing as my visits before had me boasting to my son and others, how great this resort is. I was told it is now under new management. If that is so, I'm sorry, I need the previous management back on board!!! I think I will try another hotel for my next visit. Me and my family were not the happiest of campers this time around. My family and I just returned from our second stay at the Jewel Grande. We had the 2BR OF deluxe suite. THE GOOD: The staff does a wonderful job at keeping the grounds immaculate. Our suite was spacious and cleaned daily. There were several different onsite restaurants to enjoy and a lot of variety. We found the food to be delicious. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Shout out to Shameka in dining and Andre in the gift shop. They were both very helpful and polite. THINGS TO IMPROVE: There were plumbing issues from the start. The water pressure was too high and the toilets were running (probably due to pressure). We did not have hot water one night. The faucet did not reach over the sink far enough, so the entire sink area would get wet. We had to constantly ask for face cloths (staff should leave at least 2 per day/guest). TIPS: Review & Book restaurants/excursions upon arrival. Before heading to the beach, ensure you have towel cards issued by the front desk to pick up towels from the towel hut located by the main pool. Read less
