Ocean Coral Spring Resort is, in my view, a 4-star all-inclusive that delivers value, warm service, and a fun, modern resort experience—just not a true 5-star luxury stay. And that distinction matters.
The Rooms & Resort Condition
The rooms are modern, spacious, clean, and clearly recently built. Everything felt well made and thoughtfully designed. Outside of two important caveats (more on that below), the rooms were quiet and comfortable. There was very little visible hurricane damage—all restaurants were open and operating normally, and we experienced no issues at all related to that.
Service & Hospitality
This is where Coral Spring really shines. The staff was consistently friendly, welcoming, and genuinely warm. You truly feel Jamaican hospitality here—service felt natural, not forced. It’s the kind of experience that actually makes you want to get out and explore Jamaica more on a future trip.
Beach & Pools
The beach is on the smaller side, but it’s white sand with calm water and is conveniently located steps from the pool and restaurants. It works well, but don’t expect a massive beachfront.
There is one large main pool for the entire resort. It functions fine, but compared to other resorts with multiple pools, this was a drawback. Securing loungers was also frustrating—chairs were often saved early or already taken, which became a daily annoyance.
On the plus side, the resort has excellent water features: water slides, a lazy river, and plenty to keep young families and groups entertained.
Food & Drinks
There are lots of food options, smoothie bar, cafe, and the restaurant designs are modern and well done aesthetically. The food was good enough with solid variety, but this is where expectations need to be set properly.
If you’ve stayed at true 5-star resorts—the food here falls short of that level. Nothing was bad, but it wasn’t memorable or elevated. Interestingly, many guests who ventured off-resort said the local restaurants had excellent food and they felt safe doing so.
Bars were a highlight: several good options including the main lounge, sports bar, plus a bowling alley, theatre, live music venues, and the café. The gym was also a perfect size, floor to ceiling windows and well equipped.
The Negatives (Worth Knowing)
• Check-in was far too long and felt disorganized, which was a frustrating way to start the trip. Waited far too long for our room.
• We were given a room with an adjoining door, and even with the door closed, we could clearly hear conversations next door. Not good. If you’re a single family or couple, request a room without an adjoining room.
• UPDATED: The Room Safe didn’t work. It said it was closed but I opened it right up. Good thing as I see other recent reviews where money was taken from the safe. Not good! We didn’t bring a lot of cash and we kept our valuables with us so we were okay. But they had better fix this issue or many won’t return.
• Pool chair availability, all beach chairs were taken early in the morning and there is only one main pool setup, noticeable drawbacks having to reserve chairs or find extra chairs.
Overall Verdict
Ocean was Spring Resort is a very good 4-star resort, not a 5-star—and that’s okay if you go in with the right expectations. Clean, modern rooms, strong amenities, great entertainment options, and truly standout Jamaican hospitality make it a worthwhile stay.
The service alone made us want to come back to Jamaica and explore beyond the resort next time—which, honestly, says a lot.
Bottom line: If you value friendly service, modern accommodations, and a lively resort atmosphere more than gourmet dining or ultra-luxury, Ocean Spring delivers decent value and a genuinely enjoyable experience. Highly recommend supporting Jamaica especially post hurricane!
