Our holiday to the Maldives had been cancelled due to the Middle Eastern conflict . We had just a month before the departure date to find another holiday. We decided as things were , it was better to go west and head to the carribean, but being that late in the day , resorts were booked, and flight prices were going up . We wanted an adult only resort ,so choice was limited. We have stayed at Sandles resorts before but thought we would try couples as they had great reviews.
We were understandably upset at our dream holiday being cancelled, but we were looking forward to seeing how couple resorts shaped up ! We were not disappointed. We had booked a garden room with partial sea view . The rooms were well laid out and clean . The bed is so comfortable. A good size shower room (no bath) has shower gel ,shampoo, soap and hairdryer. Also, they supply little extras like shower caps , make-up remover pads, etc . There are plenty of clean towels. A bathrobe each is also a nice touch . The room also has a safe ,iron, and ironing board. Flat screen t.v ,although you really only get a couple of channels, and the sound is terrible! Veranda is small but functional with two chairs, a table and a place to hang wet swim stuff, etc .
I should, of course, mention the full-size bottles of spirts and wines ,which were replaced when asked.
Four restaurants and bars , which were amazing. We tried to eat at different ones for variety, but the grill and Lychee restaurant were our favourites . Make sure you book the a la cart restaurant early as it can get booked up very quickly . You can only book up to two days in advance.
The beach was gorgeous, which they raked every morning, and the sea was crystal clear and so calm. We didn't use the main pool but used the smaller diving pool when quiet .
My husband is an experienced diver, and this is where there was a bit of a negative experience. Although my husband has been a diver for many years and trained SAA club diver in the UK waters , the dive team would not accept his certificates. He had to pay for a course ,which was $400 . This was very unfair as his diving credentials and experience were only partially recognised , he therefore had to effectively go back to school !!
He did, however, take full advantage of the free diving and enjoyed two dives every day. The guys at the dive centre were fantastic.
There were two complementary snorkelling trips a day , which I took advantage of, which were brilliant, and we saw some amazing marine life.
Evening entertainment was very good .
The staff were all so friendly and polite.
All in all, this was a fantastic resort, and we met some lovely people . We will definitely be back in the future ❤️
