“Great stay at south coast”

South coast is out on a limb and transfer is around 1 hour 30 mins but worth the travel. Nice beach, good restaurants and bars. Service on the whole has been good. Watersports activity team very good special shout-out to Othneil, Byron, Tyefe, Bailey, Jermaine, and Khanrick—they truly are a credit to the resort.

Review of Sandals South Coast We stayed at Sandals South Coast recently and while there are some positives, unfortunately the negatives overshadowed our experience. Positives: • The grounds are absolutely beautiful, very well maintained and scenic. • The food and restaurant service were excellent, and we really appreciated that most restaurants don’t require advance bookings. • Our room was spacious and comfortable. Negatives: • Front Desk Support: This was our biggest disappointment. We repeatedly asked if we could upgrade to a butler room or split our stay between South Coast and Sandals Negril. Each time, the front desk staff told us to call British Airways, despite BA directing us back to the hotel. We were promised call-backs multiple times but never received them. Staff changed constantly, and each time we were told someone would follow up – but nothing happened. We were also told they would contact Sandals Negril about availability, but again, no one ever followed through. Out of frustration, we spent $200 on a taxi to Negril to ask in person, only to be told we had to go back through South Coast. Even when I raised the issue with Ricardo, the butler manager, who took my details, nothing came of it despite following up twice. Very poor customer service. • Pool Loungers: Another major issue. Butlers were reserving loungers the night before, so by 6am every lounger at all three pools was already “taken.” Many remained unused well into the afternoon – one day we counted 16 people in the main pool but over 40 loungers were reserved. This was incredibly frustrating. • Air Conditioning: Our unit was noisy and leaking water throughout our stay. I reported it four times, and each time we were told it had been fixed, but it never was. The noise made it impossible to sleep, and the leaking water caused me to slip on the tiles. Despite raising this repeatedly, no solution was offered and we weren’t moved to another room, even though occupancy was apparently only 65%. • Diving: Diving is advertised as free, but we were told we couldn’t dive for a few days unless we paid $900 each to join the “Sandals Elite” diving team. That’s $1,800 just to dive – which is completely misleading and unacceptable when “free diving” is advertised on the website. Overall: While the property itself is stunning and the restaurants are very good, the lack of support from the front desk, the unfair pool lounger situation, unresolved maintenance issues, and misleading diving policies made our stay very disappointing. Based on this experience, I’m not sure we would return to this resort, and I dread to think what the lounger and diving situation is like during peak season. We expected better from Sandals.

Staff friendly and helpful. My husband is disabled and was able to manage with assistance (shower chair, etc.) There are some maintenance issues that need addressing but the GM is on it!
