Jamaica Inn

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Star rating

The hotel

Whilst staying at Jamaica Inn, Winston Churchill swore the light was the best in the world for his watercolours. Jamaica Inn is one of the loveliest small luxury hotels in Jamaica. Now over 60 years old, it retains a gracious air of colonial Jamaica and attracts individuals and couples (some famous), who return on a regular basis. There is a wonderful, natural tranquility about this hotel and it has a lovely location on a private 700 ft white sand beach. Dining is on an outdoor terrace that adjoins the bar terrace. A more romantic setting is hard to imagine, and in keeping with the ‘Noel Coward’ lifestyle, there is a live band most nights. There is a cocktail terrace with a magnificent view and in step with its elegant classic approach, there is a dress code after dark. Bordered by an exquisite 700 ft-long beach, the hotel is in Ocho Rios on the tranquil North Coast of the island. All guest suites face the beach and the turquoise water. Each suite has a verandah or a balustraded balcony and many guests opt to leave the air-conditioning off and allow the sea breeze instead to do the work.

Over 40 years ago., and long before the internet, we found our perfect honeymoon destination in a Caribbean guidebook. Over the years we have returned many times and the Inn has remained true to its long tradition of understated elegance and luxury. There is no better place on earth for a luxurious relaxed beach vacation. Excellent food and drink always served by friendly professionals who truly seem to enjoy their jobs. Calm and warm ocean water suitable for even the most timid swimmers. Sam, Ash, Patrick and Williams on the beach made us feel like guests in their private home. George provided many in room meals served as if in a 5 star restaurant. Sadie and Nodia kept our room spotless throughout always with a smile. Thank you all for providing a respite from an otherwise turbulent world. See you next year! Read less

We did the ocean combo with Danesha and Kenneth at the spa, they were the best!! The gazebo’s by the ocean are definitely a plus too. Ask for the lemon grass drink, it’s really refreshing with the fruits bowl. Love love love it here! We’re definitely going back soon.

Marcia the receptionist is a wonderful welcome to the spa and is so kind with the best smile. Kenneth’s facials and massages are the best rejuvenating experiences you can ask for especially on vacation. Absolutely marvelous experience that felt magical in every way.

Christopher made sure that the four of us had a perfect spot on the very non-crowded beach, Ashaleene and Samantha kept us hydrated and seemed to know what we wanted before we did. Ashaleene was also a fun croquet teacher/partner! Patrick and William also made sure that we had our special requests granted. Sadie and Nodine kept our rooms more comfortable than home and included special unexpected details. George provided the most elegant and professional in room lunches and dinners. This was our third visit in 17 years and we will be back next year. Don't change a thing! Read less
