The hotel

Whilst staying at Jamaica Inn, Winston Churchill swore the light was the best in the world for his watercolours. Jamaica Inn is one of the loveliest small luxury hotels in Jamaica. Now over 60 years old, it retains a gracious air of colonial Jamaica and attracts individuals and couples (some famous), who return on a regular basis. There is a wonderful, natural tranquility about this hotel and it has a lovely location on a private 700 ft white sand beach. Dining is on an outdoor terrace that adjoins the bar terrace. A more romantic setting is hard to imagine, and in keeping with the ‘Noel Coward’ lifestyle, there is a live band most nights. There is a cocktail terrace with a magnificent view and in step with its elegant classic approach, there is a dress code after dark. Bordered by an exquisite 700 ft-long beach, the hotel is in Ocho Rios on the tranquil North Coast of the island. All guest suites face the beach and the turquoise water. Each suite has a verandah or a balustraded balcony and many guests opt to leave the air-conditioning off and allow the sea breeze instead to do the work.

A step back in time to a beautiful property which is meticulously maintained. Peaceful and quiet. A great place to rest and relax in luxury. Friendly and courteous staff.

Everything about the Inn is perfection, but the spa is beyond belief. If you want the best massage you have had anywhere on the planet, ask for Ann, Sharlene, or Daneesha. You won’t be sorry.

Reading reviews is a mixture if unrealistic expectations and people that dont have kids. Before staying, I did a little bit of research. I was looking for a classic Jamacian resort, away from mega resorts like Sandals. I didn't think they would give me the laid back, old fashion Jamacian relaxation. The Jamacian Inn marked all those boxes and the rooms had AC. The resort offered quietness and solitude. It had a variety if from choices and you get what you pay for. Cottage 3 was a wonderful experience. The first night was humid and reminded me of leaving Alabama. Thankfully the 2 ACs had the room to a blissfull temperature in no time. But if you prefer an open air experience and sweat...well, the room had 4 trifold doors to the outside to listen to the waves. Outside we were met with full ocean views with a sunset view. On the main level, there were 2 Adirondack like chairs in shade overlooking a private pool which can be heated. A dinner table outside for roomservice and 2 reclining chairs for relaxation. On down the patio, 2 more Adirondack chairs in shade looking out to the ocean. There is a stairway to the ocean where there is another patio in shade with steps to the Caribbean. Hanging from a tree was a swing in the water. If you dont like sand, you could be in the cottage. An outdoor shower is also there for easy access. The resort has a nice beach, shaded seating, and plenty of water items to use if wanted. The staff is all friendly and helpful. Each day they provide an activity ir education lesson. Learn to play crochet...easy enough, but be forwarned...the staff is pretty good at it. Dining is what you would expect from the resort. It was all good, even though some might be overpriced. Can have stonefired pizza on the beach. Dress up for dinner. There is a spa to relax and get a massage....favorite part of my wife. No complaints with the spa. So if you want a smaller resort with an Ole time Jamacian feel, this is a good place. I wouldn't have changed a thing. 5 stars. Read less
