Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

We absolutely loved our stay! The resort was breathtaking. We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite which was amazing. The service was outstanding and the food….the food was so tasty. We absolutely loved our stay at Secrets Maroma. The property was beautiful and very well maintained. The service was excellent and CONSISTENT (we have had excellent service at other resorts but it was very inconsistent...) We were already aware of ongoing construction/renovations at the resort, so we were not bothered/surprised by the noise. (We were actually quite impressed with how well the “noise” was covered up by the loud music being strategically blared around the construction site!) Roger, our personal concierge in building 26, was AMAZING! We have travelled to many Secrets locations and our private concierge has been hit and miss. Roger was definitely a hit. He addressed any and all issues/request immediately. Additionally, he would follow-up to make sure this or that was taken care of appropriately. His communication via text was prompt and CONSISTENT! Roger certainly prides himself on making sure that guests have a wonderful, overall experience at Maroma. We truly cannot sing Roger’s praises enough! David, at SeaSide Grill went above and beyond for us. We met him the day of our arrival and he was quick to make sure our first lunch was exactly what we wanted. Grilled fish tacos are our favorite thing to have for lunch, but we have found most menus only offer fried fish tacos. So, we always have to request grilled fish tacos. (seems simple enough, right? But we have found a few resorts that wouldn’t meet our requests.) Anyway, when we requested our fish tacos be prepared on the grill, David smiled and answered an emphatic, “yes,” without hesitation. He had Peter, the chef at the grill, prepare our lunch to order. The tacos were fantastic! We saw David every day for lunch, except on his day off. David had Pearlita, another chef at the grill, prepare a huge, grilled spread of food for us the second day. It was unbelievable and so delicious. The third day David had our grilled fish tacos on order, and then surprised us with customized coffee mugs and T-shirts boasting a photo we had taken with him the day before! Now, we make “friends” at all of the resorts we travel to, and our friends often give us gifts or special treatment, but this was a first for us!!! David was so thoughtful and put forth so much effort to make sure we felt special! David was one of the best waiters we have had at a resort, and he deserves so much praise and recognition! Carolina, the SeaSide Grill manager, also did an excellent job supporting David and the chefs as they worked together to ensure an enjoyable experience. Ruben, the chef at Barefoot Grill, is also someone to celebrate. We actually had met Ruben during our stay at Akumal last year, so we were pleasantly surprised to find him again at Maroma! Just like at Akumal, Ruben gave is the royal treatment! He prepared two (off-menu) amazing lunches and delivered them to us beach-front and poolside! We could certainly tell Ruben put in extra time and effort to make these lunches for us, and we truly appreciated everything he did for us. He also served us a spread of chocolate-dipped strawberries our last day! Ruben is quite “extra” and made our stay extra enjoyable!!! We enjoyed our dinner at El Patio so much we ate there twice. Miguel was our waiter both nights and he was wonderful. He was so personable and playful, which we really value since we like to get to know staff members. Miguel gave great, honest recommendations about certain dishes. Additionally, when I expressed my disappointment in the dessert menu not offering tres leches cake, Miguel spoke with his manager, Veronica, and arranged for the pastry chef to bring us tres leches cake!!! Miguel made the same dessert arrangements the second time we dined at El Patio! We really enjoyed our dinners with Miguel and thank him, Veronica, and the pastry chef, Berenice, for the wonderful experience. A few more special people to note: at the Preferred Club restaurant, Lorena (hostess) Alfredo (waiter), and Fernando(waiter) were awesome and made our breakfast so easy and enjoyable. Patricia, in housekeeping, did an amazing job in our room! Alberto and Rene were fabulous servers on the beach… they were so attentive, probably some of the best beach wait-staff we’ve encountered. Eby, beach butler, took good care of us at the beach and poolside. Roberto, a bellman, did a great job of holding down the luggage situation. Our masseuses at the spa, Xochitl and Grecia, were awesome! (We are picky about our masseuses! These ladies were fabulous!!! Request them!)
