Secrets Maroma Beach Review – May 8 – 15, 2025 This review is for our May 8-14, 2025 trip to Secrets Maroma Beach (SMB) and in a word it was incredible!! This is our fourth time to SMB going back to 2015, 2023, 2024 and 2025. Every year it gets better! While the overall resort is awesome and many reviews detail the facilities – from the restaurants, pools, beach, rooms, etc. –what makes SMB the best is their staff! Going back to 2015, the staff impressed us well beyond our expectations. And in 2023 through 2025 it has only gotten better! Our first impression this year came as we went to the pool our first day and we recognized several of the pool/beach concierges and waiters from prior years and they remembered us! Same with the entertainment team. This occurred many times through our week everywhere we went. What makes SMB staff stand out is they genuinely care about their guests and work hard to make sure we have the best experience possible. Many stand out, but the best include Bramdon head concierge at the pool/beach, Edy our pool concierge who set up our pool chairs as he saw us approach and kept us hydrated with bottles of water between cocktails. The pool food and beverage lead concierge Lucia went out of her way to get fresh blueberries for my blueberry mezcalita drink when the bartender said they didn’t have any. She checked on us every time she was in our area. Of all the staff we interacted with Bramdon without a doubt made the greatest impact on our 2025 SMB experience. While he was a very busy man, he always made time to talk with us (and others) to ask how he can make our SMB experience the best it could be. And did he ever deliver! We can’t thank you enough Bramdon!! The entertainment team also engaged with us throughout the day. Sebastian did a great job of leading the team of energetic and enthusiastic people, including Leo, Hector, IXchel, Uriel, and others. Always smiling and encouraging us to participate in all their activities. The restaurants are incredible and one of my favorite parts of SMB. Our favorites are Portofino, Bordeaux and Himitsu for dinners, the breakfast buffet and the barefoot grille for lunch. Jessica leads as food and beverage concierge, Rodrigo with the chefs and restaurant staff, and together deliver a truly outstanding culinary experience. I am a foodie and had the good fortune of entertaining senior executives at some of the best restaurants in the U.S for over 20 years, so I know great food! And Jessica and Rodrigo and their teams deliver night after night! We had the good fortune of experiencing some of the best their chefs create for 7 nights and wow are they awesome!! I would also like to acknowledge Jessica for how she also worked hard to make our culinary experience the best it could be and wow did she deliver! Thank you Jessica!! There is one other person I want to acknowledge and personally thank and that is Carmen Salinas. Carmen is a server in the lobby bar and the Theater (and sometime Coco Café). We first met Carmen three years ago and she has an amazing positive vibe that is friendly and genuine. She brightens whatever room she is in! Like us, many people have the same connection with Carmen. You see many guest hugging her wherever they see her. Thank you Carmen – never stop being you! That’s our review. My husband and I have just returned from the most amazing holiday at Secrets Maroma Beach hotel. We arrived late evening to be greeted by the hotel staff. Our luggage was swiftly taken away and nothing was too much trouble. We were personally taken to a reception desk and seated to be checked in, where we were offered an alcoholic beverage of our choice. Our room overlooked one of the garden views. Well where do I start, our hotel room was immaculate, with a queen size bed , a stocked mini bar, a balcony with a corner couch. The bathroom had a double whirlpool bath. Oh yes how can I forget the 24 hour room service with just a phone call away.. we didn't spend much time by the poolside - as the only downfall was too many rowdy Americans, but why would you when there's a beach with the whitest sand and the crystal waters. Towels are provided and the beach beds are free to use. Nothing was too much trouble for the waiters and waitresses by thd beach, particularly Anna. Beverage service was provided to your beach bed throughout the day. There is seaweed in the water but I was so impressed that the hotel actively works to try to minimise the amount. You have a choice of restaurants to choose from, and you don't have to book. The food is very good, varied from Asian, Mexican to European. The hotel is remote but it suits us perfectly. There is evening entertainment - the silent disco and karaoke was such a laugh, but there is also excellent high standard entertainment - check the 'sundial' link on your ipad provided in your room. I would highly recommend using the Amstar reps to book excursions. They ard based in the hotel lobby during the daytime. The Catamaran excursion was good but it does take you to a commercialised island. Thank you for such a memorable stay.
