The staff are world class. From the warm welcome of Ainsworth upon arrival to the attention and care from Shana, Marvin, and my Haitian brother in Calusa, we were right at home the whole time. And extra special thanks to the bartender who created the perfect Hemingway Adquirir.

Good Points: Great Location, Suite was spacious with a great view of the water, Hammock side of the hotel was very quiet with a lovely dog friendly private beach and calm waters for relaxing. The restaurants were good and were able to accommodate my gluten and dairy allergies. Bad Points: Paid $1,000 per night for a very mediocre room. The suite had very mediocre furnishings with dents and scratches and rust. Felt very much like a 3 star hotel with a 5 star price. On one of the three nights we stayed we did not get a room cleaning service and we had a Palmetto bug (American cockroach) in our shower. The service (friendliness & efficiency) of the staff was inconsistent. 50% of the staff we encountered were friendly and efficient, 25% were just friendly, and 25% were neither friendly or efficient. We had a great time at the resort. Deann, who was wonderful and so helpful as we checked in. We arrived early and was able to check in. Our room was in the Coconut Wing. There are two wings; Hammock and Coconut. Both central to resort. The Hammock wing is quieter and closer to pool. This side is more in the mangroves and shaded area. The higher rooms have view of ocean. Rooms will overlook mangrove or parking towards pool. The Coconut Wing is closer to beach area with tiki bar. The view is mostly of beach/ocean. Lots of activity in this area. As the night goes it gets quiet. We found with back slider door closed the noise was minimal. We loved Coconut wing and was glad that is what we had. Our view overlooked tiki and beach. Made it an easy access to restaurants and beach. Sunsets are beautiful and they offer champagne or Shirley temples to enjoy on the dock! Loved it!! The beach had lots of chairs and never had a problem finding one. Tip: The trees provided majority of shade in afternoon. The kids enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks. So much fun and easy to share. Never had a problem to use them. There are couple large square floats/docks for all to use in the water. Restaurants: Calusa and Dry Rocks. Calusa is where you have breakfast/dinner. Tip: when booking try to use option to include breakfast. Well worth it! We had breakfast everyday. They also have dinner and we ate there twice. The second time was fish we caught from a fishing charter. They let you select sides to go with fish and how you would like it. It was amazing! Our server was super helpful and the manager checked in on us several times. Loved the resort it is small but has nooks to enjoy. There was several wedding so expect on weekends. They have two beautiful rooms for weddings that overlook sunset and the bay. Great location for a wedding. We had lunch at the beach each day at the resort. Marvin was our guy all week. Marvin is awesome. Always with a smile, super nice and very busy. We liked the fish sandwich and chicken nachos. Favorite afternoon drink was Miami Vice. Because service was so good, our kids thought it was like an all inclusive so our bill was high for lunch. LOL! Things to do: they have list of activities each day. Our kids are teens so too old for most of the daily events. But they enjoyed paddle boards, kayaks, pool table, ping pong table. There is coffee truck in lobby during morning. Super cute! Tip: please provide green tea or lattes for tea drinkers as option. (Calusa only had Jasmine tea (tasted like flower) that they kept giving when requesting green tea. I settled for lemon and honey but would have loved green tea) The pool is set back behind rooms. It has nice set up with two different sides: adult/ family side. Plenty of parking in both sides or you can do valet. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Read less

The room is dated and can use a better cleaning and a few minor repairs, but overall the view and the resort itself made up for any shortcomings. Please get the young man tending bar during the day some help! He was very calm, but could not keep up with the lunch crowd. There should be two bartenders during busy periods. Dinner service was outstanding at the onsite restaurant. Read less
