While it has a nice location, good reputation, and helpful Hilton (Curio) affiliation, I was disappointed. Biggest problem was the noise, and that is exacerbated by the architecture of each room opening to an open-air (as in outside) courtyard. So there are weatherproof heavy room doors slamming shut seemingly constantly, most hours, and causing vibrations to other rooms as they do. And young kids and barking dogs loudly cavorting, assuming they're outside and it's okay. Us oldsters may have been used to that in our younger days on family trips, but this atmosphere hardly makes for a relaxing getaway nowadays. The resort is showing signs of wear and tear. One elevator nearest the room (south/west end Coconut wing) was out of service much of the first day, no posted signs, no apology, just didn't work. And flaky a second day. . . . And in the fancy lobby building, the showcase staircase upstairs from the main desk has carpet that's not only noticeably worn but even a little stained. Hardly what a showcase should be. In-room television not satisfactory at all. I realize people don't go to a beach resort to watch a lot of TV in their rooms, but darn it, business and public-affairs oriented guests ought to be able to catch up on the news with the ABC network affiliate without being blocked because of a spat the resort's provider (Dish?) is having about licensing fees. (And CBS froze up a couple times that first night, too.) The Calusa Restaurant is not cheap, but excellent. And staff there invariably helpful and pleasant. Elsewhere in the resort, staff attitude varied. Very first person encountered after arriving -- at the gate after a multi-hour drive -- may have not intended it but seem to act bothered and borderline hostile for a few seconds. Hardly the welcome one wants. Good location, good reputation, and a lot of us love the Keys. I'll just try something else next time. Read less

We have been here before 11 years ago and came back with two kids. Just as good as before. Great service and check out Culusia for dinner. All in all a good experience quite close to Miami. Family friendly with kid activities such as fishing and water sports.

The activities and service make this resort a favorite of ours that we come back to year after year. Our kids have so much fun, exploring the property and participating in the games and fishing that we can relax at the same time. The location is also great!
