Mondrian South Beach

South Beach, Miami

Star rating

The hotel

Tucked away in a quiet residential area, the Mondrian South Beach offers the perfect mix of home-like comfort and luxurious hotel service. This all-suite hotel is a stunning example of Modernist architecture, with interiors designed by the bold and innovative Marcel Wanders. The post-Minimalist style features a sophisticated palette of gold, black, and white, with an emphasis on sensual comfort both indoors and out. The pool area is a showstopper, surrounded by sun-soaked lounge pillows and winding pathways that lead to hidden seating areas. With views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline, the scene feels like it’s straight out of CSI Miami. And because the hotel faces west, you’ll enjoy spectacular sunsets—best savored with a mojito from the bayside or private rooftop bar.

We left having higher hopes for this hotel, only to have them crushed after the first night. This is an average hotel at best. The only reason I gave it the 3 stars is because the location and views are great. You are within 20 minutes walking to Ocean Dr, Lincoln Rd + Espanola Way. The views of the bay and Star Island are great from the balconies and the pool, This is where the praise ends for us. The rooms (we stayed in a one bedroom deluxe) are telling before you even get to them. The hallways are wafting a heavy damp/mildew odor. Inside the rooms they are in need for a refresh, the lighting is awful (this is also true in the hallways), cracked tiles throughout the bathroom, mildew along the edge of the shower. The bed is not the most comfortable. but not awful either. The rooms are not cleaned. They clean they every 3rd night of your stay (which was not made clear to us until our 2nd night when I asked about it) We were told they would "refresh" the room each day, meaning empty the trash and replace towels. This was not done. I had to ask multiple people multiple times each day to get towels and empty trash. We had piles of dirty towels until I physically had to hand them to the staff when they finally came to bring us clean ones. The hospitality is not existent here. No one was forwardly helpful. No one trued to make any experience better. The "guards" to get to the pool (which honestly offers you nothing special) that monitor your bag for water bottles or beverages leave a lot to be desired in the kindness department. The front desk was no better, when we asked about using the house car to go a few miles to Ocean Drive we were told that they will check. 20 minutes later I checked back with them on the status to which I was told, "I can't help you" by the same person. When we checked out we were asked "How was your stay" to which I replied "Well not so great" The man at the front desk looked at me and said "Would you like a copy of your bill" Literally no follow up to my response Bottom line is you have so many options of places to stay in Miami Beach, There is absolutely no reason to choose this one Read less

Great location and insane views. Beach club is a lively vibe but that suited us. We got let down by our car hire company that we booked elsewhere and Luis looked after us whilst we waited.

Most amazing experience, extreme professionalism. The staff was the best part of our stay. My friends and I stayed at the Mondrian for 5 nights to celebrate a bachelorette party. We absolutely loved our experience and would definitely stay here again! The hotel is beautiful, the pool is stunning and offers a beautiful view of the sunset. The location is excellent, with only a 15 min walk to the beach and close to many great restaurants, cafes, clubs/nightlife in South Beach. The lead concierge, Charlie Phynes, was especially amazing to deal with while planning our stay and during our time there! She is very responsive, helpful and really went above and beyond to help us make our stay so memorable. Thanks again and hope to see you soon! Read less

Great views from our hotel room & luxurious pool area. Provides a great base for exploring Miami & valet parking is available for $50 per night. However, the rooms could definitely be cleaner & ours wasn’t serviced every day (when it should have been).
