A wonderful 3 night stay at the W Hotel, South Beach - a lovely hotel in a great location. We were welcomed and checked in on arrival by Ilhom. He was friendly, courteous and polite offering us a drink whilst checking us in and ensuring throughout our stay that we were happy with our room and making sure our stay was exceptional. The room was spacious, very clean with a beautiful view of the ocean. We would watch the sun rise every morning. All staff were friendly and housekeeping would check our room every day and then call by early evening to leave water and see if we needed anything. We ate out in the evenings in Miami, however the breakfast in the hotel was excellent and arrived hot and fresh. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk to the art deco district which is reached by walking along a palm tree lined promenade that runs along the side of the beach - all very pretty. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Read less

We booked a 1 bedroom residence at the W through a third party, so I can only speak to the pool/beach/drinks/dining amenities. We stayed 6 nights. The location is north of south beach is a very nice area. Lots of walkable restaurants/bars nearby. The free trolley stops nearby and Ubers are relatively cheap and fast. We booked a 1 bedroom residence at the W through a third party, so I can only speak to the pool/beach/drinks/dining amenities. We stayed 6 nights. The location is north of south beach is a very nice area. Lots of walkable restaurants/bars nearby. The free trolley stops nearby and Ubers are relatively cheap and fast. The elevators at the hotel were not all working which resulted in delays going up and down. The beach is beautiful and the service at the beach was stellar. Jose was awesome . The main pool was very nice, but full of children. Babies in the pool in diapers and crawling around. Love kids, but not the vibe we needed for a couples vacation.Service was very poor. First order was taken, but not one person stopped by to ask if we wanted to reorder. This happened a few different days. One morning, the pool was dirty, with cups and straws at the bottom. We actually ended booking a resort pass to another hotel ...down on 5th...and that was amazing. The adult pool- which is much smaller - is located next to children's playground and did not seem to offer service- we were there 4 hours. The Grove restaurant was ok. We ordered two hamburgers one night, with two cocktails and bill was over a hundred bucks. The ice machine on 10th floor not working. I am confused with the 20% service charge. Is it the tip and does that all go to the servers? This is all over Miami Beach. I had such high hopes for the W, but was not impressed. I'm am perfectly happy paying top dollar when the service is superb. This was lukewarm, at best. Read less

Mediocre experience

Long wait at check in. Room was not ready at 4pm check in with no estimate on availability. Was finally ready at 5p. 2 of the 4 elevators were not working which led to long waits. Many items not available on last day of room service: all the soups, half the salads, no chips/guacamole and many snacks. Not sure if there was a supplier problem.
