“Back to Vilamendhoo for 7th visit”

We stayed in water villa 302 for 6 nights. Everything in the villa was in working order. Azmeel worked very hard to keep the villa spick and span. We were blessed with good sunny weather, with rain appearing only on our last day there. We were well taken care of by Thauheed at the Ahima restaurant. He frequently checks in on us and remembers our preferences. Zin Zin also gave us a good impression. We were invited by the housekeeping team to watch the inter department football final. It was a great experience. Another great experience was the full moon bbq buffet on the beach. Seafood, especially the lobsters, were delicious and fresh. Among all the resorts that we have been to in the Maldives, I still think Vilamendhoo has the best house reef in terms of easy access and vibrant marine life. The staff from Euro Divers were friendly and helpful. I had to rent fins from them as mine broke. They were patient and gave me valuable advice for snorkeling. The guest services staff can afford to be more friendly and approachable, they can perhaps learn from their f&b counterparts. A push factor for Vilamendhoo is the seaplane transfer. This is frustrating due to the discomfort on the plane, unpredictable schedule, high cost and long waits for the flight. Our departing flight from Male was at 12 noon but we had to leave the resort at 7am. When we arrived, we had to wait for 3h at the seaplane terminal.

“Always an enjoyable stay”

This was the 5th visit here and never fails to disappoint. From the very warm welcome we received from the staff and managers on arrival to the departure, it was all excellent. We had the end JWV which again was awesome with unspoilt views. The food was very good and all we needed. A big thankyou as always to Nishad in Ahima who we enjoy catching up with on each visit and our waiter for this trip Misbah. The resort is clean, all the staff friendly and welcoming. Weather could have been better but as we had a great room and communal areas were good we were still happy. Snorkelling is always fantastic too. Our room service on one occasion was a huge disappointment. No cutlery or napkins and the food arrived cold and that was paying a 15usd fee for delivery to room. Would have appreciated this refunded from our end bill?? Aside of this we had the most wonderful time.

“THE PERFECT RESORT”

This was my second visit and my wife’s third to Vilamendhoo. She visited in the mid 1990s when the resort was minimal. We returned in 2013 and loved it, staying in a water villa. We said if we came back that next time we would stay in a beach villa to experience being on the actual beach. We booked a jacuzzi beach villa this time and were allocated 211 on the north side of the island in the adult section. It was a fantastic different experience and one that I felt I enjoyed more than the water villa. Being on the beach surrounded by foliage but 20 meters from the beach is brilliant. Your own numbered sun beds are right in front of your villa on the beach. Powder white sand beckons you and even though the resort was at 97% occupancy you hardly saw many people at all, and there is masses of space on the beach. The reef is great and snorkelling eye opening. It’s an amazing resort giving you all you want and need. It’s not over fussy but still gives a little luxury. We Literally spent two weeks wearing no shoes day or night even when it rained! We were all inclusive and found the buffet restaurant great with good choices for all over the two weeks. We also ate in the Asian Wok restaurant and again it was good quality food and a lovely location. The villa has tea and coffee and a mini bar with all manner of drinks (including milk), chocolate and crisps and nuts in it that are all on the all inclusive list so easy to fetch when in the beach. We had a two day trip on Gomafolou, the resident Turkish yacht and swam with whale sharks, manta rays, turtles and spotted dolphins. Had a lovely BBQ on the beach arranged by the crew and visited a local island. I know it’s closing for 6 months for works from March 26 to Nov 26 but from what staff are saying it’s to upgrade and improve the island. We will be back again as we could have easily stayed another two weeks on top of the two weeks we did. Don’t think about Vilamendhoo…….just book it as you will not regret it!
