The hotel

Nestled in the heart of a coconut plantation bordering one of the island's finest beaches, La Pirogue is built in the style of a fisherman's village with each room housed in thatched cottages scattered throughout the beautiful spacious gardens. The hotel boasts a fantastic range of facilities for all the family, including a 1,000sq m infinity pool with a floating Jacuzzi, a spa, sumptuous dining options and a daily supervised kids' and teens' club. When evening hits, Le Morne beach bar offers live entertainment or DJ's, and alongside the roaring bonfire, this makes for an excellent spot for a nightcap.

Where is it

On a dazzling white sand beach at Flic en Flac on the island's west coast. Transfer time from Mauritius International Airport: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Please note that if taking a seat in coach this may be longer depending on how many hotel stops are en route.

Garden Bungalows face the resort's lush coconut grove, with patio and 1 king-size bed (plus extra bed if required), sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.

Board basis options

Half Board option: includes buffet breakfast at Wolmar. Dinner at Wolmar, Coconut Café or Magenta Seafood Restaurant (food credit of Rs.900 per person). Complimentary daily golf initiation and unlimited green fees. Complimentary access to Ile aux Cerfs Leisure Island including complimentary boat transfer from Pointe Maurice.

Full Board option: includes buffet breakfast at Wolmar. Lunch at Le Morne, Coconut Café and Magenta Seafood Restaurant (supplements may apply for certain items). Please note: All Inclusive is available from 2pm on day of arrival until noon on day of departure. Selected drinks and dishes, including shell fish at Magenta, may incur a supplement. Golf equipment/balls, private lessons and shuttle to the jetty for golf initiation at Ile aux Cerfs not included.


Room upgrades

Premium Garden Bungalows are unique semi-detached bungalows set in the gardens, with sea views, espresso machine (replenished daily), bluetooth sound system and 1 king-size bed, or twin beds, and sofa bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.

Beach Pavilions are larger single pavilions each with their own private terrace, located only metres away from the beach with uninterrupted views of the lagoon and the sea, with 1 king-size bed or twin beds, a single bed and a sofa bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Garden Family Bungalows are two connecting Garden Bungalows, each with their own private facilities. Includes amenities kids, such as kids bathrobes and bath products, special mini-bar items, and a bathroom step. Family Bungalows sleep a maximum of 5 people.(2 adults max)

Deluxe Beach Family Pavilions are connecting rooms, with twin or king-size beds, each room with a private terrace, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 3 children.

Duke of Edinburgh Suites have 1 king-size bed and a private terrace, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Complimentary boat shuttle transfers are included from the private jetty of Pointe Maurice to Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club.

Wolmar (open-air buffet restaurant serving breakfast and dinner). Magenta (seafood restaurant open for lunch and dinner). Coconut Cafe (light meals and beverages, open for lunch and dinner daily). Van Der Stel (wine bar offering light bites). Medine Bar (open 10am-11pm daily, with live music and entertainment in the evenings). Le Morne (beach bar open until late, serving a la carte lunch, as well as light meals and drinks, with live entertainment and DJ's at night). Guests on All Inclusive basis can enjoy lunch at Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club. Pirogue guests have access to the restaurants, bars and facilities at 5* Sugar Beach next door.

Thank you all ☺️ The holiday was truly special in every way! We booked after lots and lots of research and we are so glad we chose La Pirogue 💛 we will never get over the place - the sunsets are literally etched on our hearts for always! There are so many staff at La Pirogue without feeling that any of them impose on you at any time - this is surely a skill in itself - literally anticipating your every move so you really are in holiday mode and don’t have to lift a finger! Such special souls working tirelessly with beaming smiles - I hope we’re right in thinking the company treat their staff well as this was felt during our stay. We were treated so, so well by everyone - our ‘stand outs’ were ‘Jimmy’ ( from Madagascar) who we had the pleasure of being served by at Wolmar (La Pirogue buffet) Mare Mare (Sugar Beach - Al a carte) - beautiful & happy soul, Vijay - who served us with his big smile & big heart from Coconut beach bar & from the Medine bar; James & Jake also - with his lovely spirit - as I’ve mentioned all staff went above and beyond and make this place ✨ In summary; we loved the style of the rooms - comfortable & traditional & cleaned to a very high standard. Bed was extremely comfortable & we slept well every night! The complimentary toiletries included were lovely too - thank you! We thought the food & drinks available on all inclusive was incredible and to a very high standard! We ate mostly in Wolmar buffet restaurant but had experience of Mare Mare (Sugar beach) and Coconut Cafe (La Pirogue)- both fabulous. We also ate at the buffet restaurant at Sugar Beach - only once - we feel La Pirogue service (over all but particularly at Wolmar) is a touch above despite it being higher star rated! Rose & sparkling wine & cocktails available on all inclusive all great options. We loved the ‘catch of the day’ & ‘tiramisu’ & the pizzas (Wolmar & Medine) and crepes (available 3-5pm at Medine bar) all fabulous! Also the fact you can order a snack bar menu from your sun bed is a great option! We loved the all inclusive option & although did not work out to the button if it was completely worth while we don’t like ‘penny pinching’ on holiday & we like to have what we want, when we want it & so this option worked well for us. Also drinks were expensive from the menu & so would easily add up even if you’re a none alcohol drinker (my husband and & little girl enjoyed the mocktails & soft drinks available). We had some additional supplement cocktails & had the fresh coconuts on the beach but only a token payment. The facilities and activities are endless here and mostly included! We did plan to do more here but got swept away with the relaxing spirit of the resort instead! We used the gym a handful of times - had all we needed- we joined in on a sound bath healing experience which was amazing! & we used the cold plunge & steam - which are included at Glow spa but need to be booked. We had treatments at Glow Spa which you could say were pricey but worth every penny! I had the body scrub and polish on arrival & hubby & I had the Couples Mauritian full body massage which were out of this world! 😌 I also treated myself to Ocean healing with Elodie which was literally life changing & stunning - to be massaged & offered healing on the beach in a hut with the sounds of the ocean was bliss! She has very powerful energy & I would highly recommend! We also made use of the boat house for stand up paddle boarding, pedalo & glass bottom boat - all included & booked the catamaran from the hotel stall which was cheaper than the holiday rep quoted and we loved it- think it was about £60 per adult with transfers, bbq & drinks all included. We also hired a car locally & travelled to the Hindu temple, Port Lois & Grand Baie - all worth a look! I know this is a lengthy review and I could say way more! I always say I’ll write reviews and never do but this hotel is worthy of the love! Thank you La Pirogue from the bottom of our hearts ♥️ We were husband, wife, 11 year old daughter & my mum sharing 2 x rooms next door to each other - booked with Emirates holidays as a package & loved it! 🥰 Mauritius has left an imprint on our hearts & we are so glad we chose La Pirogue 🫶🏽 Read less

We had a great 10 day honeymoon at La Pirogue. They were very accommodating at the beginning and end of holiday giving us a spare room to shower in. The food every day was incredible. Cocktails lovely. No extra hidden charges. We played crazy golf and used the sports facilities too. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon!

Great times there, thanks to all staff kindness and great facilities, the location is also fantastic with amazing sunsets. Did not get a chance a drop a thank you card for the lady making the tasty pancakes in the morning, always smiling and checking on us, please give her a raise 👌😁

Great, friendly service. daavinen made us try local rums which was very fun. Beautiful beach side location. We had main course and dessert.ain was ok, dessert was fabulous.
