Booked here on recommendation of colleagues. Was a little nervous after reading a couple of the reviews. Fortunately, the exterior renovation was completed. I loved my room. It was quite spacious, including a leather sofa. Room was clean . .some of the furniture is a little 'tired'. Best part is the balcony! The french doors slide open and there were 2 chairs and a table out there. Loved the fresh air that came into the room. Beautiful views of mountains . . .There was an air purifier in my room (some of my colleagues didn't have one though) and it was the perfect 'white noise'. It was quiet during my stay. I'd say the only minor complaints was no mini-fridge or coffee maker in the room . .and they allow smoking in their patio off the bar area. . . including cigar smoking. Gross.
Pool area was also nice but I didn't really have time to use it. Walking distance to Rodeo Drive shopping and super close to restaurants. Felt like a relatively safe part of town.
And all the employees I encountered were very friendly.

Especially ROBIN who went above and beyond to help us with our every need. He was so hospitable, knowledgeable, and made sure our stay was everything we had hoped it would be. Eating in the restaurant is a must! I also have to mention ODUWA. She was lovely with such an ingratiating smile and made us feel special. I believe the Cameo Hotel is so lucky to have Robin in their employ!
We love the cameo and highly recommend!

Charming Hotel with Personality, Though a Bit Past Its Prime

We were upgraded to a Signature Suite, which was a pleasant surprise. The room was beautifully designed—elegant furniture, a large bookshelf with stylish coffee table books, and sleek sofas, chairs, and tables that gave the space a refined yet comfortable feel. I didn’t have time to try the in-room jacuzzi, but it looked great. The bed was very comfortable. The only downside was the balcony—it was a bit small and slightly sloped outward, which made it feel less usable.
The front desk staff were impeccably dressed, articulate, and exceptionally friendly. The valet team was also warm and welcoming.
Breakfast was decent, and I’m looking forward to trying their Southern Italy–inspired dinner next time.
A couple of things detracted from the overall ambiance. The fake trees and artificial grass near the pool felt out of place, and the gym—located underground—lacked atmosphere, even though they did have a large fan running to improve air flow.
Overall, this hotel has personality. It doesn’t feel like a cookie-cutter luxury property—it has charm and some distinctive design touches. That said, it also feels like a place that may have seen its prime a few decades ago. Still, it was a very enjoyable stay.
